Art Vanick on Glenn Beck and Mormonism
Out of Mormonism ^

Posted on 10/04/2010 12:57:36 PM PDT by Amerisrael

Art Vanick, co-author of The Spalding Enigma, Who Really Wrote The Book of Mormon, makes an appearance on Out of Mormonism to address the Glenn Beck Restoring Honor Rally.

Andy, Art, and Roger discuss the ramifications of the rally from a biblical Christian perspective.

Do Christians understand that Mormonism is different than biblical Christianity?

[ These are two separate "Out of Mormonism" radio podcasts from Mesa, Arizona. Very interesting.]

While Mormonism may not pose the violent / stealth and political threat that Islam does, from a spiritual standpoint, it is just as dangerous.

Perhaps this is not a good thread to discuss polytheism or the right evening, Sandy. I’ll try another day. Have a great evening, Lady.

Worth repeating.

While Mormonism may not pose the violent / stealth and political threat that Islam does, from a spiritual standpoint, it is just as dangerous.

Mormons believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost

Oh Sandy, Sandy, Sandy. Just go ahead and post the articles of faith and go back into a coma. And so forth.

Oh, yes, those LDS Missionaries are dangerous monsters, not to mention Glenn Beck. Evil monsters from hell.

Would you please get a brain and a heart?

lol Saundra that's funny. But you fell into the trap of engaging them. I have done it myself many times and will probably do it again.

Unfortunately it's pointless. They have their blinders on and agenda engrained in their being. It's typically like arguing with a small child or a brick wall.

Hey did you stop beating your wife? Answer the question! /snicker

Since I am not a female homosexual I am unable to answer the question.

But for you it should be easy to answer: which Jesus?

The created jesus or the Eternal Jesus?

"Hey did you stop beating your wife? Answer the question! /snicker"

What a deep, relevant and mature comment. I suspect that since you have yet to address or even reply to the content of the question, behaving like a child is the tactic du jour to attempt to derail the topic?

But then again, when it has been demonstrated time and again that there are only empty hands and words being brought to the "discussion", I can't expect much more than that.

Care to make an attempt at addressing the following?

------

In the Book of Mormon, Jesus brought death and destruction with him to the Cross. In 3 Nephi, Chapters 8 and 9, it details the events testifying of Christ's crucifixion. It describes the desolation of the great city of Zarahemla by fire, and the city of Moroni "did sink into the sea and the inhabitants thereof were drowned... the earth was carried up upon the city of Mornihah...there was great and terrible destruction in the land southward......terrible destruction in the land northward....the highways were broken up....many great and noble cities were sunk and many burned and many shaken till the buildings thereof had fallen to the earth.....all these great and terrible things were done in the space of three hours."

Here are links to the Official LdS BoM chapters that detail these events:

3 Nephi 8

3 Nephi 9

3 Nephi, Chapter 9, tells of further wrath as the Lord also destroyed the cities and inhabitants of Gigal, Onihah, Mocum, Jerusalem, Gadiandi, Gadiomnah, Jacob, Gimgimmo, Jacobugath, Laman, Josh, Gad, and Kishkumen. (a total of 16 major cities) Who did all this killing to testify of our Lord's atonement on Calvary?

3 Nephi 9:15 reveals the murderer of approximately 2 million innocent inhabitants of the Book of Mormon lands, "Behold, I am Jesus Christ the son of God. I created the heavens and the earth and all things that in them are." He adds, (in verse 21), "behold, I have come unto the world to bring redemption unto the world to save the world from sin." I guess the easiest way was to kill almost every living creature; at least the vast majority of that portion of his "other sheep have I." This Jesus was a god of wrath, exercising some form of Old Testament Judgment by the one who was supposed to be the end of the law.

The Biblical Jesus cried out to His Father,

"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

Source: Saints Alive

2 Cor.11:3-5 tells us that there will be those who would teach a different Christ. Paul says of them, "For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ".

It is recorded in the BoM that the mormon christ massacred 100's of thousands men, women and children (possibly millions) and destroyed at least 16, if not more cities.

Yet the Christ of the Bible pleaded for Father to "...forgive them for they know not what they do."?

When He came back, "do not be afraid", "peace be upon you" recorded numerous times in the Bible. No hint whatsoever of Christ going on a murderous and destructive rampage in the ME.

I wonder, were there no evil folks in the ME for the Biblical Christ to destroy? Since the BoM is claiming all those poor souls the BoM christ destroyed were "evil" and without redemption, is it contended that all the folks in the ME were somehow, "special"?

What a deep, relevant and mature comment

Nah it just proves a point. Both questions are stupid. Which Jesus? The only Jesus. There is no "which". Just another game in the playbook of the anti-Mormon.

Have an honest inquiry on the subject? Check out the links I provide constantly and you will find your answer. That is, if you really are interested in the answer.

I have and the answer is clear what lds teaches about jesus. What I find amazing is that you are unwilling to state that you (lds) worship a created jesus rather than an Eternal Jesus. Why is it so hard for you to state that?

There’s an anti-Mormon group of people here that spends a great deal of their time attacking the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They post regurgitated propaganda on an almost daily basis. They have an obsession. You can witness many different tactics employed that you might find quite interesting. The strawman argument is a big favorite and is frequently preceded by cherry-picked quotes or other material. After the “quotation” the attacker will misrepresent what has been said or what was meant and then attack their own interpretation.

yeah sure

Link

As of December 31, 2009, there were 51,736 LDS missionaries serving in 344 church missions throughout the world. Their work, often in cooperation with local members, resulted in 280,106 convert baptisms in 2009.[12] Author David Stewart points out that the number of convert baptisms per missionary per year has fallen from a high of 8.03 in 1989 to just 4.67 in 2005.[13] He argues that the number of converts would increase if Mormon missionaries made greater efforts in meeting new people; he points out that the average companionship spends only four or five hours per week attempting to meet new people.[13]

How terrible it is that a handful of Christians post a handful of threads per week on FreeRepublic to counter the proselytizing efforts of the missionaries and public relations campaign of the mormon church. Don't you just feel SO sorry that the poor, persecuted mormons aren't able to have their message heard?

You “proved” nothing of the kind. Your refusal to even consider the fact that I used official LdS sources in my post to you “proves” a hell of a lot more than your spurious and childish remark.

Where do you think I came up with the information for the post?

I cited information from OFFICIAL LdS resources (the BoM and the Bible) and now it’s your contention that I’m not making an “honest inquiry”?

Pathetic. Absolutely, unequivocally pathetic.

Not as many as should; but if they lurk HERE they will learn just how MORMONism operates these days!
