Disclaimer: I am former LDS and "anti" mormonism. I post articles from official mormon sources that often relate to current discussions taking place on the forum to provide a means for open discussion in the Religion forum.

FROM THE RELIGION FORUM MODERATOR:

Open threads are a town square. Antagonism though not encouraged, should be expected

Posters may argue for or against beliefs of any kind. They may tear down other’s beliefs. They may ridicule.

On all threads, but particularly “open” threads, posters must never “make it personal.” Reading minds and attributing motives are forms of “making it personal.” Making a thread “about” another Freeper is “making it personal.”

When in doubt, review your use of the pronoun “you” before hitting “enter.”

Like the Smoky Backroom, the conversation may be offensive to some.

Thin-skinned posters will be booted from “open” threads because in the town square, they are the disrupters.

http://www.freerepublic.com/~religionmoderator/

Thin-skinned (emotional, whiney or mercurial temper) posters are the disruptors on open threads.

Hey! You’re supposed to be listening to conference. Here in Southern Utah every radio station within 100 miles is coming in loud and clear.

Also it’s probably time to start getting ready for smithmas so you’re not too far off the mark.

I just got booted from resty’s thread so I’m wearing my ctr badge.

Some research into Ridenhour makes me wonder about reincarnation...he could pass for Joseph Smith with all his scams.

"His primary gift and mission in life seems to be to stir the coals of revival among the charismatic-inclined who are numbered among the various restoration movements. Hence his residence in Independence, Missouri

She never explains why the Rose of Sharon was going around Upstate New York looking for buried treasure through crystals in the bottom of his hat. Not mentioned in the Gospels, IIRC.

What’s life like for non-Mormons in Utah? Especially where you live — in a small, rural town. I love Utah and would move there in a heartbeat. (Lived in Page, AZ for 5 years, so I have a pretty good idea of what it’s like to be surrounded by Mormons.)

Why is it so hard to accept the Gospel as is? Christ came fulfilling all OT prophecies, died on the cross, rose from the dead. You believe and accept his sacrifice in your place by confessing him as your Lord and you are a new creation, declared righteous by faith. No church, denomination, cult or sect can accomplish this spiritual rebirth for you.

There is not another revelation needed. The message is simple and perfect. You cannot earn your way to heaven either through being a martyr, wearing special clothes or following any religious dictates or dogma. God did all the work for you.

Accept it and rejoice in His love and the Christian liberty Jesus won for you. Heed the warning in Revelation 22 - Do not add anything to the Gospel.

Hey, If you've got the hots for prepubescent girls why not start your own religion and make it one of your rules that you can marry as many as you want...Joseph Smith and Mohammed-two of histoy's great religious leaders.

I would expect it’s probably mixed. It really would depend on on the situation. I lived out on the East Coast, as well as the midwest, and I have known many kinds of Mormon, some decent in their conduct to me, and some not so much. I don’t agree with them, but I know where I disagree with them, and it’s as simple as that.

Well we came here for a specific reason although we do understand the culture very well. Our days are filled with visitors from the outside but our contribution to the economy here has been noticed. If we want a good Mexican dinner we go to Page.

It is hard to find reliable employees and services so if you are in the trades you will be treasured.

Most all wage earners are at the minimum.

Come and say hello when in the Mount Carmel Area.
