Survey: Americans don't know much about religion
Associated Press ^ | 28 Sept 2010 | RACHEL ZOLL

A new survey of Americans' knowledge of religion found that atheists, agnostics, Jews and Mormons outperformed Protestants and Roman Catholics in answering questions about major religions, while many respondents could not correctly give the most basic tenets of their own faiths. Forty-five percent of Roman Catholics who participated in the study didn't know that, according to church teaching, the bread and wine used in Holy Communion is not just a symbol, but becomes the body and blood of Christ. More than half of Protestants could not identify Martin Luther as the person who inspired the Protestant Reformation. And about four in 10 Jews did not know that Maimonides, one of the greatest rabbis and intellectuals in history, was Jewish.... On questions about Christianity, Mormons scored the highest, with an average of about eight correct answers out of 12, followed by white evangelicals, with an average of just over seven correct answers. Jews, along with atheists and agnostics, knew the most about other faiths, such as Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Judaism. Less than half of Americans know that the Dalai Lama is Buddhist, and less than four in 10 know that Vishnu and Shiva are part of Hinduism.

LOL! You're whining because you got your ever-lovin' "christian" ass kicked by some "vile" cultists who know more about the supposed leader of your religion that you do.

And I am talking about Jesus Christ if you're too dense to give my drift.

Follow the leader, perhaps???? All good cultists do as they are told. While I think the leaders might be right in regards to Obama, it is scary to wonder what might happened if those leaders ordered their members to, oh say, massacre a wagon train, or drink the kool-aid.

I really love your post! Too funny. Yeah, Mormons just do what we are told. uh huh.

So when it comes to obeying the Bible & worshiping Jesus -- do Mormons do that? No, they overwhelmingly don't (with a few exceptions).

Yep, Mormons (except a few) do not obey the Bible. Especially the 10 commandments. right? In fact Mormons obey the bible less that any other religion major or minor. /sarc

As for worship Christ? The fact that ordinances are done in His name is meaningless right.

Sheeeeeeeeeesh, what a stretch.

Well all this time I thought you were a Mormon. But since Mormonism teaches that there are three gods acting as a troika, your comment on The One God shows me I was mistaken, you’re not a Mormon. Might explain some of your posting methodology, too.

Careful there, your ignorance is spewing out all over the thread for everyone to see. Jesus is not the ‘leader of a religion’, friend, He is the Savior. Men make religions, Jesus makes people members of His family.

Your implication is that Mormons are racist.

Quotes are the damnedest things!

Quotes are the damnedest things!

But first...

Care to explain why Mormons are more conservative also?

Oh no!

They DEFINITELY mean something!

(One of the ten mentions 'taking His name in vain' I believe.)

Because we SAID so!

You KNOW that's how MORMONism works!

So ordinances in the name of the “Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost” are against the 10 commandments? In your opinion?

LC, back in the '50's many Christian denominations had separate churches for blacks and whites....so using your all intelligent logic members of those churches are all racist.

You just keep playing that race card when your argument is losing.

Sorry; but Mormon SCRIPTURE has the RACism embedded in the verses.

Only MONSON can make THAT fact go away!
