Ever seen something like this?
Have you ever seen something like this in the Bible - God saying, "Go meet with the Baal worshippers' and arrange a huge rally, an ecumenical service - talk about honor and integrity and family values.. and you can pray to Me, of course, and they can pray to Baal - in fact, hold the priest of Baal's hand as he prays.. that will be such a nice touch.. and its quite ok with me.. I, the Lord your God, the holy One, really don't mind.. that's because it will show so much love to people and it will open hearts to My religion and everyone will so appreciate you not being closed minded elitist bigots. It will do wonders for people's view both of you and of Me. Go do this in My Name."?
Ever seen that? Even a hint of it? No? Me neither. - JS
Passover begins on the 15th day of the Jewish month of Nissan. As the Jewish day begins at sundown the night before, for the year 2010, the first night of Passover was March 29th.
Passover is the 8 day observance commemorating the freedom and exodus of the Israelites (Jewish slaves) from Egypt during the reign of the Pharaoh Ramses II.
Easter in 2010 was celebrated on April 4th only six days after the start of Passover.
Pesach or Passover had nothing to do with the resurrection of Jesus.
Sunday April 4th does however come after the March 20, 2010 date of the vernal equinox which is the date set for the celebration of Easter set by Semiramis.
And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth [Easter] (Jdg. 2:11, 13).
Then the children of Israel did put away Baalim and Ashtaroth, and served the LORD only (I Sam. 7:3-4).
Again the problem is Glenn has made it about religion.. he called it a revival, his main point is Faith, and he weaves Mormon doctrine neatly into his history lessons.
I am a member of the tea party.. but I will not se God or the Christ of scripture mocked.
On his television show,he taught the Mormon history of American history.. even the LDS has been unable to verify this teaching of Joseph Smith with DNA ...
Thanks for saving me a click or two. My reaction was "huh?" as well and almost went to see what I had missed.
If one reads the bible it makes perfect sense..and the article was posted for the biblically literate on a Christian blog
"I didn't know that the rally would be on the same day that MLK gave his 'DREAM' speech!"
-- Glenn Beck
Seems like a fellow can do NOTHING without it landing on the same day as when some OTHER fella did something!
The article was sarcastic, snide and intentionally, I believe, ignored what the rally was about. It was not a church service. Beck's goal is to not to water down any faith with a "ecumenical inter-faith service". Beck lifts his themes from the founding era, mainly from the DOI. He is attempting to replicate the unity which transcended religious differences John Adams spoke of in 1813 letter to Jefferson:
Who composed that Army of fine young Fellows that was then before my Eyes? There were among them, Roman Catholics, English Episcopalians, Scotch and American Presbyterians, Methodists, Moravians, Anababtist, German Lutherans, German Calvinists Universalists, Arians, Protestants, Deists and Atheists; and Protestans qui ne croyant rien. Very few however of several of these Species present. Nevertheless, all Educated in the general Principles of Christianity: and the general Principles of English and American Liberty.Could my Answer be understood, by any candid Reader or Hearer, to recommend, to all the others, the general Principles, Institutions or Systems of Education of the Roman Catholics? Or those of the Quakers? Or those of the Menonists? Or those of the Methodists? Or those of the Moravians? Or those of the Universalists? Or those of the Philosophers? No.
The general Principles, on which the Fathers Achieved Independence, were the only Principles in which that beautiful Assembly of young Gentlemen could Unite, and these Principles only could be intended by them in their Address, or by me in my Answer.
And what were these general Principles?
I answer, the general Principles of Christianity, in which all those Sects were united: And the general Principles of English and American Liberty, in which all those young Men United, and which had United all Parties in America, in Majorities sufficient to assert and maintain her Independence.
There is nothing in what Adams described or Beck promoted at the rally which tells anyone to worship "Baal", water down or give up their faith.
What historical event has he taught that did not happen?
Oh no, I think I agree with you on something.
Have you read the Bible at all? Even a little bit?
>>Pesach or Passover had nothing to do with the resurrection of Jesus.<<
>Have you read the Bible at all? Even a little bit?<
You obviously disagree with my original comment.
Are you trying to imply that the Jewish passover was a celebration of the resurrection?
It’s Beckumenical!
IF this was a political gathering, I have no problem... but it was not..Glenn called it a revival.. a revival of what ?Faith in what?
He made this a religious revival not me.. and as a religious revival I have no interest in making nice with Baal or praying with pagans
A revival of the spirit of 1776 which allowed Christians who often hated each others guts and non-Christians to put aside their denominational differences and unite to fight for their liberty because they all believed in inalienable rights given by their Creator.
The Jewish passover was the celebration of God saving the Jews from Slavery.
Jesus was crucified to save those that believe from slavery to sin.
The final meal celebrated by Christ and the apostles was the passover meal..
So Easter and passover usually fall at about the same time of the calendar
Given that there is no Biblical reference to Easter in conjunction with the resurrection of Jesus, or any where else in the Bible, it, to me, is obvious it is connected to the celebration honoring the goddess Estarte, which was pronounced Easter. God cautioned strongly to not celebrate the days of the pagans. I choose to stay as far away from even appearing to go against God’s word in that regard.
the word revival has a specific meaning to Christians... again in a POLITICAL rally I can put aside differences..BUT Glenn stressed this was NOT A POLITICAL rally it was a revival .
He is the one to read sermons, to invite preachers. He has said he is not interested in SOCIAL issues, that he is about FAITH. He is the one that had the "black robes"...so by design this was a religious gathering not a political one.
Glenn and I have different gods, the Imam that was there and I have different gods.. so even when we speak the same words..like "creator" we do not mean the same thing
We can not "pray" in unity because we are praying to different gods.....
2Cr 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
2Cr 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
2Cr 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
2Cr 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you,
2Cr 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Congratulations. That’s the craziest bunch of crap I’ve ever read from a newbie. Really nuts.
We may soon know!
btw: Why, when disagreeing with someone, do you on the left always need to include some form of pejorative?
