Metmom has had allergies and food allergies her entire life. In the last few years they have gotten steadily and progressively worse. Foods have been dropping out of her diet until she reached the point she is at now and can only eat rice, chicken, lamb, and venison. Anything else causes her to react rather destructively, debilitatingly.
The problem is that the repeated continual exposure to the few remaining foods, could lead to a sensitivity to those as well, which has just happened to two foods she had been safely eating since October.
There are options for nutrition should she start to react to all foods, but they are used only in the most dire situations. She's concerned about reaching that point--and frankly has been feeling more than a little discouraged by all such.
She has undergone extensive medical testing which has all been inconclusive. Almost everything comes back normal or negative, and the few things that she does test positive for arent what causes her the most problems.
She is attempting to get into a regional medical center for more specialized medical evaluation to see if they can determine the cause and possible treatment, if any exists.
She has been prayed for and anointed numerous times over the years, however, she would appreciated continued prayer for complete healing.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND HER PLIGHT with as much empathy as you can. She's been through a 1,001 suggestions and tried a LOT of different things. She's been through the Henry Wright seminar and prayers extensively. I don't think she is quite up to handling any more suggestions currently. Those who've been through such can understand such a feeling. She just greatly would appreciate your understanding and PARTICULARLY YOUR CARING PRAYERS.
This summary is per my understanding and might be stated somewhat differently were she writing it herself. I believe she'd affirm the truth of what I've said but these are essentially my words.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR PRAYERS.
AMEN! AMEN!
THX THX.
Thank you for the update, metmom. I will pray for you.
A few years ago when I was deathly ill for about a year with a mysterious illness the docs could not diagnose, I was sitting outside vomiting bile on the ground, utterly dehydrated, DH was gone working, and I felt I could just lie down on the ground and die.
When I got to low points like that, I would pray “Dear Lord, what is the lesson You want me to learn now?” and generally the answer would come into my heart right away.
The answer that day was “Die before dying”. I knew that to mean “Die to my own will, my own plans, my own egocentric desires etc”. To depend completely on Him, whether the outcome was “good” or “bad” in the standard of worldly enjoyment or whatever.
Suffering doesn’t mean God isn’t protecting you.
Lifting prayers for a safe trip and that the doctors will be able to offer you some remedy for this very difficult situation you are in. God bless you metmom.
Daniel 3:14-1814Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?
15Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
You hang in there girl; for your FRiends are going to do more than just sit and stare at you for days!!
Carest thou not that we perish?

Lord; open the eyes of my servant...
Prayers for your safe travel, and that the doctors will be able to figure out, and correct, your eating problems.
You have a lot on your plate. I cannot even remotely imagine.
Here are some thoughts, so take them in the loving spirit they are intended:
1. First, obviously when the body is suffering (in pain, etc.,) so much of our energy goes to battle that component that we do not have much left with coping mechanisms so we can get depressed, cranky, etc. (gee, how do I know all this? ; )
2. Don’t think of the others as heartless. It would be like a person using their eyes to walk about the room while you are sitting there as a blind person. They have no idea how hard it is and, like you said, parties are about food. You need to make a choice - go and suffer (which you do) or just stay home (and that’s a form of suffering as well).
3. I have recently had to help myself with this last one. Do not build an altar to your suffering. I am not saying that you did (or are) but God recently showed me that I was doing that very thing about a struggle I was going through. Be careful. It is easy to do when the pain and suffering are too much to bear.
Child of God, you know HE loves you. I have just lifted you up in prayer to Him again. I truly pray you will be healed. Keep us posted on your progress so that we may continue to lift you up.
Meanwhile, with all that you go through, you are blessing many of us with your upbeat attitude, in spite of your trials. And remember that we are closest to our Lord when we suffer for he himself was the suffering servant. And please don’t think I like to suffer, because I don’t.
Cheering and praying for YOU!
What words of wisdom little jeremiah. I am going to take those words you just wrote and keep them in my heart. I think they might be very useful indeed.
I have a friend who having completed Chemo for her cancer will live for the rest of her life taking the majority of fluid and food through an I.V.
Here insides were destroyed but she is alive.
It sucks but she is a very energetic woman and generally happy. Even though her boss was that fake Indian at Boulder University.
She carries gluten free popcorn and occasionally munches on it and some other things.
Might this be a sucky solution for you?
Please be safe and prayers for you.
Thanks, Elsie. :)
I had no idea that popcorn could contain gluten, but apparently if it is processed in a plant that also processes wheat, there can be cross-contamination.
Safe travel, good prognoses, the a Merry Christmas to you and yours.
I actually don’t anything about gluten but she did say something about the brand being insurance against it.
I guess it is processed in a very specific way and in a protected environment.
I keep reminding myself of that and think about Job a lot.
God had a purpose Job didn’t understand and God cannot be put into a box.
As others who have been through worse situations than I’m going through have said, it gets down to one thing.....
God is in it and God is good.
My senses tell me otherwise, Satan would have me believe otherwise, but that’s it in a nutshell.
My not dying yet does....
Yes, I know that they’re really not eating heartlessly.
And yes, going was my choice and I did not expect it to be easy. But it was harder than I expected. If it were a matter of going somewhere where there was food and it was not so obvious that I wasn’t eating or eating differently, it would be far easier.
I do understand about point 3. I’ve been aware of that danger.
Thanks for your prayers and concerns.
It’s still snowing and we have about 10 inches on the ground now. Time to shovel, again.....
I’m not looking at my insides being destroyed like that, but if (when?) the last of the foods go, as everything else has, that’s my next option.
I do realize that there are plenty of people out there who are suffering worse than I.
If the doctors gave me a timeline, that would be easier to deal with than this. So far the reactions have been manageable, but should I have a severe one when no one is around, ......
At this point, I don’t know when the other shoe is going to drop.
There’s a source of flour and other grains in a nearby city and they do sell gluten free items, but cannot sell something as gluten free that they have to repackage because of the risk of cross contamination since they are not a certified gluten free dealer.
So, apparently they exist.
For anyone interested in gluten free, there’s a thickening agent that can be used in place of flour or cornstarch for gravies and such called arrowroot. We use it for gravy, not because it’s gluten free but because it makes killer gravy.
