Metmom has had allergies and food allergies her entire life. In the last few years they have gotten steadily and progressively worse. Foods have been dropping out of her diet until she reached the point she is at now and can only eat rice, chicken, lamb, and venison. Anything else causes her to react rather destructively, debilitatingly.
The problem is that the repeated continual exposure to the few remaining foods, could lead to a sensitivity to those as well, which has just happened to two foods she had been safely eating since October.
There are options for nutrition should she start to react to all foods, but they are used only in the most dire situations. She's concerned about reaching that point--and frankly has been feeling more than a little discouraged by all such.
She has undergone extensive medical testing which has all been inconclusive. Almost everything comes back normal or negative, and the few things that she does test positive for arent what causes her the most problems.
She is attempting to get into a regional medical center for more specialized medical evaluation to see if they can determine the cause and possible treatment, if any exists.
She has been prayed for and anointed numerous times over the years, however, she would appreciated continued prayer for complete healing.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND HER PLIGHT with as much empathy as you can. She's been through a 1,001 suggestions and tried a LOT of different things. She's been through the Henry Wright seminar and prayers extensively. I don't think she is quite up to handling any more suggestions currently. Those who've been through such can understand such a feeling. She just greatly would appreciate your understanding and PARTICULARLY YOUR CARING PRAYERS.
This summary is per my understanding and might be stated somewhat differently were she writing it herself. I believe she'd affirm the truth of what I've said but these are essentially my words.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR PRAYERS.
Yes, he’s started me on an anti-histamine program and wants me to let him know what that does for me.
There are other things to try, but I want to get this testing done first to give them a baseline or what’s going on.
Thanks for the thoughts.
Prayer is practical enough.
No kidding. It gives you some kind of idea of what to expect and what to know to try.
For all these years of getting advice about what to do, check for leaky gut, probiotics, "don't eat what you react to" (thanks a lot), try this, that, or the other supplement, etc, none of that is going to be effective if it's not addressing the right cause, which it isn't.
If this were really typical IgE mediated allergies, yeah, a lot of that stuff could help. But it's not. It's a waste of time trying to treat a condition that you don't have.
Just saw this, many prayers to you metmom
Thank you for the update. Prayers continue.
Continued prayers for a speedy return to good health and vitality.
” Like when you go to the ER and they ask you if you’ve ever been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. “
Metmom: “ Not until TODAY! “
;-)
Prayers to continue.
I will keep praying for you for sure!
Keep hanging in there!
Return???
That would imply that I was ever healthy. I’ve had varying degrees of this my entire life.
Thanks, hope it’s helping, still praying here. Love, Joya
Oh thank goodness...something to try to get around..something to try to get TO!
Something to TRY!!!!
Prayers for you- and more prayers.
Yeah. It sure is a nice feeling.
I can only imagine how you’ve been feeling for so, so long.
So discouraged, so confused, so completely helpless to do anything to effect any change!
That’s got to be the worst feeling.
And, I’m so sorry you’ve been having to deal with it~
Since first reading your post- I’ve been trying to remember to be thankful for just being able to eat.
I’m a quite overweight person, which is also discouraging.
However, I have so much to be thankful for- starting with being ABLE to just eat.
I appreciate that you shared your story so that we could include you in our prayers, but also so that I could be reminded to be thankful for the little things that are SO HUGE if they’re not working properly.

Thanks for your prayers.
It gets so easy to take things for granted. I used to be able to eat about anything with minimal problems, just a rash on occasion. This has gotten progressively worse over the years. Sometimes what makes it hard is smelling all the good food and remembering eating it and how it tastes and how good it would taste again....
But I do thank God that I live in a time and place where this can be dealt with and there is food accessible that I can eat.
And cutting wheat out of my diet has helped me lose a LOT of weight. And my cholesterol has dropped like a rock and my BP wonderful.
All in all, I’m really pretty healthy for my age- except that I can’t eat hardly anything.
Here’s a link to a video presentation by the doctors in Boston who deal with mastocytosis.
http://www.tmsforacure.org/video.shtml
This explains it pretty well. There are three parts to this video presentation.
MCAS also explains why the typical cures offered don’t work, like allergy shots. Neither does this have anything to do with leaky gut, probiotics, yeast infections, etc. because this isn’t an allergic reaction through the usual IgE pathway.
I’m actually not allergic to the things I react to. It’s the mast cells themselves which are defective.
THX THX.
Continued prayers.
Still, there are things that work ~ in the meantime enjoy that sheep meat and rice ~ I envy you since I can't stand sheep enough to bite into it.
We have you over getting prayed for in one of the Novena threads ~ plus this one ~ these Catholics we hang around with on this board are a praying bunch of people (praise God).
Actually, I’m on chicken and oats. I can’t do rice. I react to it too much.
I have to try lamb again when I can get some that hasn’t been aged for flavor. I’ve heard of where I can get some locally, but need to get hold of my friend again and rattle her cage about it.
Mine are apparently just the messed up ones.
I’ve had a gastro biopsy for mastocytosis and that came back negative (thankfully as usual this time)
