They have a bout 10 scriptures that they have “interpreted” ..they read them out of context and with out any systematic method
That is why poor Sister Angela can not understand the bible
I was
not
of the impression that
y’all thought those opinions were secret! LOL.
Well, accurately & masterfully put, as usual.
Thx.
Where's the decoder that will automatically translate fine biblical words into distorted Mormonese?
Satan was already defeated at the cross.. the judgement is just not yet applied...
The battle here is mostly against our fallen nature and God... we are completely capable of sin without any help from Satan ...
Many people fail to understand that Satan has always been under the rule of God and can do nothing without the permission of God ..He is a tool in the hand of God..
I believe our spiritual warfare is against our own sin and against the fallen nature of men
I ask myself, If some of these Mormon leaders or members lied, therefore, what? I reject a therefore which asserts or implies that this example shows that lying is morally permissible or that lying is a tradition or even a tolerated condition in the Mormon community or among the leaders of our church. That is not so.Elder Oaks does not justify "lying for the Lord." Far from ithe says that such behavior is sinful and impermissible.I suppose most mortals employ some exaggeration and a little of what someone called innocent after-mindedness. But does this mean we condone deliberate and important misrepresentations of fact in a circumstance in which they are clearly intended to be believed and relied upon? Never! Lying is sinful, as it has always been, and there is no exempt category for so-called lying for the Lord. Lying is simply outside the range of permitted or condoned conduct by Latter-day Saintsmembers or leaders.
So I must amend my previous statement about "lying for the Lord." Except for a speech by Elder Oaks in which he denounces the notion of "lying for the Lord," I have never known Latter-day Saints to use the phrase, much less recommend the practice.
Well your statement alone is enough for anyone to get ignored.... Arrogance of this degree generally is ignored and not taken seriously.
Let me quote just from this one post of yours here... might help you see the problem:
"Here I am"
"I am not"
"I take"
"I find"
"Not me"
"My arguements"
"My arguements"
"I note"
"I get"
"My arguement"
"I engage"
"I was"
"I go"
"I have"
....perhaps you might avoid the I-Me-My syndrome. I addressed your post in the first paragraph with explanation in hopes you might be more understanding of those whose approach is different than others. Your response was all about you and a sort of winney flavor to it and this after you mistakenly qualified yourself above others. Doesn't exactly win friends and influence people.
Hello Quix....interesting thread to say the least...
I doubt the OP
posted it to
BE BORING
. . . perhaps just wanted to lobby for boring.
“However, given that this is my first batch of french fries with my dentures . . . I may need to be extra cautious about coming across annoyed or irritable. LOL.”
Do you normally type with your teeth?:-)
You stopped looking for alternatives. There's one that is above all others. I left tha Catholic Church and found salvation in Jesus. I will never look back at the damage, mind-games, idolotry, control, guilt, dependence and endless works I left behind.
Had anyone mentioned in my early years as a Christian I would in any wise become a bold defender of the truth when called to be so, I would never have seen that coming. But we do grow and become that which He uses with the Spirit He has given us to do so.
I also think as we grow and become more like Christ we acquire the fruit of the Spirit/other gifts as well for whatever the circumstances might require....though certain ones might be dominate...we become stronger in the Lord, more well versed in the scriptures, and therefore available to Him for more diverse situations.
I believe as the final days come into view more of us as Christians will be called to face down the deceptions which are quickly taking hold across our nation. We need to be informed of what they are and those churches, groups and organizations promoting these. Further to genuinely be aware of the enemies devices so we can spot those deceptions.
As that battle rages we will need to discern that it isn't just about leading folks to the Lord, as we have known so well in the past, but also of rescuing, and fighting for those who get caught in the thickets, or on their way, as they stray or are enticed away from the foundations of Christianity. I see this happening often now.
The enemy of men's souls knows his time is short so he is picking up the pace in many areas....while he does so it seems to me the Lord is gathering Christians out of the thickets caught in as the process to integrate the religions appears now to have begun. True believers will not be a part of this “Universal” push for all faiths to become one.
There is simply no other option in Christianity that has any credible claim to being the Church Christ founded. There is no group, formal, informal, etc., that has the Words of Everlasting Life.
I'm either Catholic, or I'm nothing. No other options.
Yeah, yeah, I used to say the same thing. Turns out, I AM NOTHING. But when I gave up all my useless striving and put all my trust to Jesus, everything changed.
I can't believe God got through to my hardened heart. I can't thank Him enough for keeping after me for 50 years!
.....and the devil. I say this because of the work I have done dealing in the cults and in those who mask as Christianity. Though I agree satan cannot act apart from God's permissive will...he does indeed influence and act against those who are Christians as well as not. What we see is the outcome of his work in the confused and oftentimes broken spirits of those who have fallen pray to his devices. Or those completely blinded and willingly deceived in light of the revealed will and purposes of God that they know.
More often than not those who fall as this have stopped attending church, turned their back on the truth and followed the lies satan is ready and willing to pounce them with when they do so. This occurs because often they are not grounded in the scriptures....seldom pray except in crisis and or are not satisfied in the church they are attending.......Either or and all these if one turns away from the truth they will in time fall for a lie....and we know who is the author of lies.
By considering it’s just someone’s opinion, instead of studying it out for yourself in prayer, you will keep yourself stuck with the same old mindset.
Renew your mind using HIS Word and you will find it is TRUTH and not just someone’s opinion.
More partial quotes that don’t tell the whole story from these guys? Imagine that. They often ask for examples of where they misrepresent. The last couple of days have provided a bevy of such examples.
Most of these guys are actually pretty bright folks and I believe good people. It’s a shame they feel the need to resort to these kinds of tactics, rather than a civil, reasoned discussion that would benefit all.
The ends must justify the means, regardless of what the means entail. Sad really

It is as if, in the past, barely rooted Christians had the time to wallow in intellectual agnosticism - but no more.
In these battles, the doctrinal differences among us are not at issue - but rather forming a bulwark against the onslaught of the spirit of anti-Christ, protecting the vulnerable "young" Christians. We don't know who they are, but we know that they are. We know there is a final cause for the work to which we have been drawn.
And, as you say, God has equipped all of us with gifts of the Spirit which are up to the task. Indeed, I am humbled by the effectiveness which can only be attributed to His grace.
He has brought together in this great debate philosophers, scientists, attorneys, mathematicians, preachers, writers - bound by a common love of God and Spiritual language.
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned. - I Corinthians 2:14
