But God and the Evil One have been locked in this battle for as long as time has existed and beyond.

Satan was already defeated at the cross.. the judgement is just not yet applied...

The battle here is mostly against our fallen nature and God... we are completely capable of sin without any help from Satan ...

Many people fail to understand that Satan has always been under the rule of God and can do nothing without the permission of God ..He is a tool in the hand of God..

I believe our spiritual warfare is against our own sin and against the fallen nature of men

"I believe our spiritual warfare is against our own sin and against the fallen nature of men"

.....and the devil. I say this because of the work I have done dealing in the cults and in those who mask as Christianity. Though I agree satan cannot act apart from God's permissive will...he does indeed influence and act against those who are Christians as well as not. What we see is the outcome of his work in the confused and oftentimes broken spirits of those who have fallen pray to his devices. Or those completely blinded and willingly deceived in light of the revealed will and purposes of God that they know.

More often than not those who fall as this have stopped attending church, turned their back on the truth and followed the lies satan is ready and willing to pounce them with when they do so. This occurs because often they are not grounded in the scriptures....seldom pray except in crisis and or are not satisfied in the church they are attending.......Either or and all these if one turns away from the truth they will in time fall for a lie....and we know who is the author of lies.

We were given a means to defeat the Evil One at the cross, but he is not gone from our midst and wants nothing more than to separate us from God come that judgement. He does this both through day in and day out temptations and roadblocks, as well as sponsoring numerous other “paths” that lead away from God.

Satan will not be gone from us until he is cast into the lake of fire as told to us in the Revelation, 20:10, until that time he is still a danger that must be opposed at every turn, for while he cannot defeat God, he can lead our fellow man away from him, and each soul he gets is a loss.

That he continues to feed on our weaknesses in order to continue his work is of little surprise.
