7 When you pray, dont babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Dont be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, --New Living Translation 7And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking. [I Kings 18:25-29.] 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. 9Pray, therefore, like this: 15But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their [j]reckless and willful sins, [k]leaving them, letting them go, and [l]giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. --Amplified Pray with Simplicity 5"And when you come before God, don't turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat? 6"Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. 7-13"The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They're full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don't fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: 16-18"When you practice some appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God, don't make a production out of it. It might turn you into a small-time celebrity but it won't make you a saint. If you 'go into training' inwardly, act normal outwardly. Shampoo and comb your hair, brush your teeth, wash your face. God doesn't require attention-getting devices. He won't overlook what you are doing; he'll reward you well. |
Mark Kirby: O Mother of Good Counsel, I am all thine, Most Holy Mary, There is no part of my life that is not open to thee, I want to be completely transparent with thee, Praying in this way, I can be at rest, |

Yep. Faith requires and bestows courage.
They don't disagree with me at all, they had no idea of what I would write or say! I wasn't living in their times :-)
Many of them were not really "humble" at all. That I disagree with some of what they say should not surprise anyone...they were promoting and expounding upon traditions that cannot be traced back to the Christ Jesus and His Apostles. The flowerly words that they used and the insistance they pushed are not "humble" in any sense of the word - worldly humitity is a cover-up.
Do you think you think God reveals things to you that were not revealed to Saint Irenaues,Augustine,Aquinas, Pio etc...?Do you believe God gave you intellectual gifts above these people. I'm not seeing this at all
I'm not in the habit of judging the intelligence of anyone; I leave that to God. As to how those individuals used their intelligence is something else; one can test the spirit by which they speak and write to see if it is conformity with what the Holy Spirit inspired men who wrote the Gospels and Letters of the Bible - if their works don't, then I question the way they used their intelligence. The spirit uses ones gifts regardless of their intelligence to bring forth the truth, and that should be tested by the standard God has revealed in the Scriptures. So, no, I don't believe God has given me any more intelligence than anyone else - we work with what we were gifted with, be it intelligence, insight, language, perseptiveness, or whatever.
ME: "Nothing I said about the teachings of Catholicism was wrong..."
I disagree with you.Why should anyone believe you? There is nothing much different about you than anyone else that opposes some Church teachings?
That' your choice. I don't aske anyone to "believe" me in anything - I just present what I have found out and let the hearer or reader decide; some decide con, some pro. As for opposing some RCC teachings, well, in testing them I find them way out of conformity with what God has revealed in the Scriptures. BTW, what you quoted from me above is deceiving - you left out the context I was mentioning, which was the teachings on indulgences and purgatory by the RCC: That's sort of important, right?!
Me: "I once approached the Archbishop's office and presented him with a list of things I found that didn't jive with the Scriptures, and he never rejected any of them, which surprised me and my friend who went with me."
What's to stop any nut from presenting a list to any Archbishop? It probably happens often from radicals who think they are some special modern prophet who usually misunderstands the scriptures
Did you have an appointment, because it sounds like you just approached the Archbishop without asking?
Mike, a friend of mine, and I called the Archbishops office and set up an appointment, but Archbishop Roach wasn't available as he was out of town, but the adjunct bishop said he like to hear what we have found wrong with the teaching of the church (we mentioned the topic we would like to get his views on). We visited with him for over two hours a couple of days later! A week after we met with him we received a letter...which I've given part of in some other post. Again, you don't have to believe me :-)
Mike and I were well-prepared for the meeting. We presented a 30 page long document outlining the teachings we found to be unscriptural and why we did so. At the time it was well-accepted by the bishop. But I do have to say I don't know if he passed it on to the Archbisop or not; nor if he saved the document in a file or not. That was in the late 70's and I started a publication directed at informing Catholics of these false teaching which was continued from 1980-1982. Did some Catholics accept them? YES! Did some reject them? Again, YES, which we expected. In fact, many Catholics attended the Home Bible Study groups we started. They seemed to be skeptical at first, but as the Scriptures were studied many changed their minds. Praise God through whom all glory flows!
Time and culture do not necessarily excuse but they mitigate really lousy decisions.
Perhaps from a human standpoint.
What has more authority than the Word of God contained within Scripture?
INDEED. INDEED. QUITE SO.
SCRIPTURE teaches us
as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
God keeps him in perfect peace who’s mind is
FIXED ON . . .
GOD.
Another focus yields different results.
AMEN! AMEN!
Yeah, welllll . . .
As Scriptures have noted . . . God spoke through another donkey once.
LOL.
HEEEEE HAWWWWW!
AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!
PRAISE GOD FOR HIS AND FOR YOUR FAITHFULNESS.
Tradition......
The Catholic church claims it is the only one true church because they say that God told them they are, and if you don’t believe them, you are a heretic who is going to burn in hell.
So there.....
INDEED ABSOLUTELY.
If the magistrum is the definer of what scripture means they are the author of those poor hermeneutics
I heard Sr Angela say on her show yesterday there are many ways to interpret the bible but we will not understand them until we are in heaven ... poor sister admits on television she does not understand what scripture says..hey but thats ok as long as she will in heaven
What a church failure when a nun can not understand the word of God..because it is that very word that leads to eternal life..the fact she can not understand it means she will never get to heaven
If you can not read the bible with understanding then SAYING it is the core means NOTHING because you do not know what the Holy Spirit is saying in it..
Pauls letters were a part of the FORMATION of the church ..and they were scripture
If the scriptures were chosen to support the faith, they PROVE how far the catholic church has fallen from the original faith of the apostles and disciples..
In the scriptures YOU HAVE LIFE a failure to understand them means you are dead
For instance, two people can walk into the Sistine Chapel and have the same physical, visible reaction - but one is in awe of God inspired by just being there, and the other is an idolator enthralled by the architecture, art and luxurious appointments.
The following, for instance, has two different readings:
The other reading, which I perceive, is that God made the heaven and earth so don't think your help comes from the hills (creation.)
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. - Psalms 121:1-2
In sum, we must examine ourselves and invite God to help us keep our priorities straight.
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of [that] bread, and drink of [that] cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many [are] weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. - I Cor 11:28-32
ABSOLUTELY.
ANOINTEDLY WELL PUT.
THX.
If the Roman Catholic Church claims to have written the Bible, then why did it neglect to put those primary teachings of Jesus in it? Whyd it waste its time with the less important stuff?
Do you really expect to get an explicit or direct answer to those questions? I never really expect such a thing, although I do hope that maybe one of the members of the RC/Latin led church slips up and tells us the true facts.
I believe this fact is very important as people try to use scripture to support their positions on what to me often seems to be political matters.
That belief seems silly. Are you suggesting that G-d's Chosen people
shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach
did not exist until the the days of the King James bible ?
