7 When you pray, dont babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Dont be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, --New Living Translation 7And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking. [I Kings 18:25-29.] 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. 9Pray, therefore, like this: 15But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their [j]reckless and willful sins, [k]leaving them, letting them go, and [l]giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. --Amplified Pray with Simplicity 5"And when you come before God, don't turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat? 6"Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. 7-13"The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They're full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don't fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: 16-18"When you practice some appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God, don't make a production out of it. It might turn you into a small-time celebrity but it won't make you a saint. If you 'go into training' inwardly, act normal outwardly. Shampoo and comb your hair, brush your teeth, wash your face. God doesn't require attention-getting devices. He won't overlook what you are doing; he'll reward you well. |

If Metmom has accepted Christ as her personal Savior, she is in Christ’s church. God prefers tabernacles not made with human hands. A building is not the church.
When you get us all in your little boxes, what then?
That’s what I said, The Church of Whatever MetMom Decides. Just another YOPIOS church, membership one.
Some folks have jobs . . . and/or express things hereon . . . which make disclosing much about their personal lives very DANGEROUS.
That’s the case for me though I’ve posted far more than has been wise.
It is all the worse if I end up a missionary again in Asia.
Some folks also have spouses who are absolutely rigidly firm about NO PERSONAL INFO TO BE SHARED ON THE NET AND PARTICULARLY SUCH FORUMS AS FR.
That is the case with at least one prominently posting Protty.
I believe it is Baptist/Evangelical and then Pentecostal.
I am a Born Again Christian. I was baptized a Baptist and attend a non-denominational church that is very baptistic. The church is called Moody Church named for one of our elders who was a great evangelist in his day, Dwight Moody.
Then I will know better who is demanding information from me and others in the Catholic Church.
Boxes? You think denominations are boxes? I thought they were groups of people who share the same beliefs. Boxes can’t believe anything.
Well put.
lol. The RCC talks out of both sides of its mouth. Continually. And there will always be those who only see one lip moving.
INDEED.
Metmom didn’t decide anything, Christ did. Your theology is once again skewed.
Now Wag, you know the majority of Catholics do not even know the doctrine and even many of those that do are "cafeteria catholics "
You mean the Catholic translation from the greek to the Latin?...Give me the original greek ??

Dangerous to “express things hereon...” That would obtain for Catholics in a large part of Asia. Yet, knowing that, you freely demand that Catholics tell you every little thing about their faith life. If we don’t, you decide it’s because we CAN’T.
If I should go to India, as I’ve considered doing, what would await me there, in some regions? Or the Middle East, as I have been invited to go with a government agency? Wherever I go, I will go as a Catholic.
The “danger” dodge is baloney, quix, and you know it. I cannot imagine JR giving up any FReeper information. And give me a break. You are not that important.
lol, you are the only one demanding information around here
Sigh.
I sadly, must agree.
I have no need to spell it out for the umpteenth time.
Pay attention the first couple of dozen times.
Sheesh.
sorry , ping
INDEED.
THX.
Well, read the REST of the thread. How many times has someone said, “The Catholics don’t answer because they can’t” in the past 500 posts?
Sorry, can’t keep up well with the thread - Has anyone from among the Romans actually answered the question yet?
