How do I know what is going to “provoke hostility” in someone else before I send it?
thank you just read this!
Sky I had trouble about this when I was not LDS and so do many folks when they ponder it!
And why is my 4 gone while 3 and 7 are still there?
Put yourself in your correspondents’ shoes and reread your comment before pressing “post.” If it needs to be toned down, then do so.
Your post #4 would have been inappropriate for a “caucus” - since the thread label has been changed, I will restore your comment.
My most humble thanks.
jesus-is-lord.com and jesus-is-savior.com are not allowed on the Religion Forum at all because of their Chick references.
I always see references to the Bible in Mormon literature to prove a point but nowhere do I see the Bible mentioning the Book of Mormon to prove itself ....
Thanks for the info.
No. They’re all there. My Bible is only missing the books that didn’t qualify as scripture, like the Book of Mormon
Why does anyone believe what they believe?
Nothing is missing...

"God is in control in the world"
God will not interfere with free will The Lord will inform His servants but the game of scrimmage of good vs evil being played out here on earth and the Lord is our protector but we are still mortal.
the Scriptures inform us that in Eph. 6
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
21 But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:
22 Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.
23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
Also the scriptures tell us
Eph 1
Saints foreordained to receive the gospelGospel to be restored in latter-daysSaints sealed by Holy Spirit of PromiseThey know God and Christ by revelation
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Really than why did they Crucify our Lord and kill of his apostles and change His word as Paul stated in the Lord told Paul to warns Timothy about to be on the look out that no other gospel be taught!
The Lord is concern that is why he informs his servants!
1 Tim 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
While the books of the Bible contain references to scripture that is currently unavailable, there are also many different versions of the Bible which contain different books. It is a false notion that the Bible has been and is a fixed set of scripture. Various editors have removed and added books to their version of the Bible based on their beliefs. Further the text of the Bible has been altered by copyists over the centuries. That is purpose of the field of NT textual criticism, to create a version of the NT that is as close as possible to the original text.
A good popular book on the subject is: "Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why"
but then that ASSUMES the bom to be factual - which it isn't and therefore ANY missing books are as bogus as the bom already is.
The mormon church also has a prophet who could add to their canon at ANY time - yet doesn't. Ever wonder why - this is the result of one of these "missing" scriptures that they added to their canon
I am sure my viewpoints are at odds with more than just some scriptures. Just like you cannot legislate common sense, you cannot get millions of believers to agree what exactly the Bible says.
This thread is about the Christian Bible...
THe Bible is believed and adhered to by Christians..
As a Christian and a reader and believer in the Christian Bible for the past 50+ years, I feel that I am being excluded from a thread about MY religion and MY Book of sacred scriptures...
