that the Koran is the infallible, inerrant, exclusive Word of God, perfect in every detail, mechanically dictated by God and passively received by the sacred writer.

It's the mechanically dictated that differs from the Christian view. I was always taught “infallible, inerrant, Word of God, perfect in every detail, inspired by the Holy Spirit.”

It's utterly amazing that inherently unprovable historical theories such as the documentary hypothesis, redaction criticism, and form criticism have conquered all the sectors of chr*stianity except for the "independent Baptist, KJV only" types caricatured in the article.

There is no way to prove any historical theory outside of building a time machine. All these theories continue to exist because "scholars" want to believe them.

Germany may have lost World War I, but its academic theories have conquered the world.
