Old-Earth Creationism

by Henry Morris, Ph.D.

Many evangelical leaders today, unfortunately, have capitulated to the evolutionary timescale of modern unbelieving geologists and astronomers. They feel that they must somehow reinterpret the Genesis record of creation to allow for billions of prehistoric years, which the evolutionists must have in order to make cosmic evolution and biological evolution seem feasible. This compromise is necessary, they say, in order to win scientists and other intellectuals to the Lord...

"Not one creationist has answered with concrete proof what us “evos” have asked them to answer."

And not one evo groupie here has ever present one shred of proof of their assertions either, although thousands of useless sketches, diagrams and retouched photos of simulated skulls have cluttered our threads.

Who or what type of creations is not discussed. Yes death came by Adam, yet in the book of Jude it mentions angles who had left their first estate which can be interpreted as leaving their heavenly bodies and are now in chains. Who are these angles and why did they want to take on flesh? When it says that the sons of God which has been interpreted as being angles wanted to and did couple with the daughters of man. Some believe that demons are disembodied spirits from the pre Adamic age. Who knows.

Companies have projects to look all over the place in nature for medicines. Aspirin was found from tree bark. Cyclosporin, the anti-rejection drug was from a fungus in a dirt sample that a Sandoz (now Novartis) employee collected on his vacation somewhere in Norway. The company encouraged employees to collect samples of fungi and plants while on vacations.

I highly doubt that it was as he said. If he really had a “flesh eating” bacterial infection that widespread, it wouldn’t clear up in 3 days and would cause damage that wouldn’t clear up- look up pictures on the net (they are pretty gruesome).

From the Wiki article on allicin, it looks like research is being done, but if it gets into widespread use, I believe that resistance will arise eventually. It takes a long time to test if it is safe, actually works, and works better than what is out there.

I do think that garlic may be a good insect repellent. When I grew up in NY state, I got eaten alive by mosquitos every summer. Now that I have lived here in CA, I honestly not been bitten by a mosquito or tick on hikes in areas where others get devoured. I do like putting garlic salt on dishes and speaking to someone else that doesn’t get bit, he said he also likes garlic. maybe I don’t smell or taste good to them.

Dev,
i don’t have a DEVeloped strategy on this matter. Sometimes I like to poke holes in the 7-day arguments. Sometimes I like to show how absurd the undergraduates have gotten in their evolution philosophy.

Gould believed the emergence of man was random and accidental. It would be expected that a non-Theist would develop that philosophy. But he was more than a little haughty about it.

And Homo erectus was not a man. The semiotics/linguistics is improper.

I don't know of the scripture that records the "when" of that happening. Please educate me.

I don't know either, but we are not completly in the dark. If Satan was created, it would be between Genesis 1:1 and the meeting with Eve in the garden. Of course there were other things that would have had to happen in this time frame. Do we need a gap or gaps and if so where would they be?

Revelation 12 says "his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven." The stars were made on the fourth day so if the stars are the fallen angels, that might suggest they were made on the fourth day.

Perhaps you already see a problem here. Genesis 2:3 seems to distinguish between "created" and "made" and nothing was created on day four.

The details in scripture give us much more than we recieve. Look closely at the details.

I'm headed out right now we can discuss more later if you like.

His hand was truly gross!

As for alicin, it works astoundingly well, but it isn't stable in its natural form, so it can't be stored to use in concentrated solution. There is a Co. in Texas, Premier Biogenics, that makes a stable dry form, that has to be taken as capsules, that is effective on the tough internal infections like bladder, ear, and sinus infections, but it isn't of any use for topical application.

The really fabulous thing about Alicin is that its only side effect is a foul odor, and after centuries of use, no resistant bacteria have raised their heads. Our worst Mosquitoes are night biters in California.

If you want to believe the Ice Cores represent 700,000 years, go ahead.

As for me, I don't buy everything that science claims.

We have several myths about the modern scientific community. They include:

  1. Scientists are unbiased and open minded. I've already pointed to the Global Warming Hoax as one example. Any scientist who dares to mention that he believes in Creation or Intelligent Designed is blackballed by the establishment. Any student who expresses those beliefs is weeded out regardless of their scholarship.
  2. Ideas and Hypotheses that are contrary to the establishment view are considered and tested on a timely basis. The actual record shows that repeatedly scientists who discover major advances in science are often ridiculed, and frequently it has taken an entire generation for the scientific community to embrace the new ideas even when the evidence was clearly in their favor.
  3. The Peer Review process always improves science. It does often improve the quality of scientific publications, challenging assumptions, looking for flaws, etc. But when something is at odds with the establishment view, it often serves as to censure instead of simply challenge. And conversely when something agrees with the establishment view or expectations, it too often gets a pass without an adequate challenge, allowing junk science to get published.

I've read interpretations of these passages. That Satan wanted to pollute the human blood line and his angels had relations with human women and this was one of the reasons God chose Noah and his family and flushed the rest away. It could be but it is still conjecture at this point.

The message still is the same from Genesis to Revelation. Obey God's Word. This guarantees eternity with Him. Doing otherwise has less than pleasant repercussions both in this life and the life to come.

Actually if you read in Gen about Noah God said he was perfect in all his generations. the word perfect there is the same word used in describing the sacrificial animals. Being perfect with out spot or blemish. Noah's bloodline had not been corrupted. If Satan had been able to corrupt the entire human bloodline then there would not of been anyone to whom Jesus could of been born to.

If Satan was created, it would be between Genesis 1:1 and the meeting with Eve in the garden.

The record in Genesis deals with God's creation of our physical world (universe) culminating with the crown jewel - humans (created in the image of God). It does not specify that He created the angels during this time. Perhaps He had created the angels much before (and heaven as well). Was there the passage of time before God created it in Gen1:2?

The fact that Revelation states that stars were cast down I don't believe refers to our physical stars that were created on day 4 but rather that they are heavenly beings. Much like the dragon in that same passage is not a physical dragon but Satan himself "who masquerades as an angel of light". In Isaiah, there is a reference to the morning star and how he said in his heart I will ascend to heaven, I will raise my throne above the stars of God (Isa 14:12). This is in reference to Satan pridefully boasting to be more important than the other angels and so much so that he will be "like God". These star references are not our physical stars but angelic, heavenly beings. There is a lot of metaphorical, pictorial depiction in Revelation and I get confused as to when it is literal and when it is metaphorical. This is one of the passages I really don't think refers to literal stars.

If the above is true, then there is no problem in maintaining the integrity of a 6 day creation and the concept of sin/death being introduced through Adam and subsequently to us, his seed.

>>>==Obviously not. Why not enlighten me? How does the Biblical water cycle differ from the scientific one?<<

One big difference is the level of math, science, technology and history available to current observers. Shepherds without the math for the time scale or the chemistry or biology did the the best they could to understand but they were limited.
