Brigham Young University has denied an appeal to award a diploma that the creator of a Mormon beefcake calendar says he earned.
Chad Hardy's diploma was withheld by BYU last fall after he was excommunicated from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which owns and runs the school. Hardy was excommunicated during the month between completing his courses and graduation ceremonies.
Hardy appealed and met with Dean of Students Vernon L. Heperi on Feb. 13. In the meeting, Heperi sought to determine whether Hardy's life is guided by the school's honor code, which reflects the values of the Mormon church.

You'd lose...
how many of THEM have served in the military?
In other words, to live a good life and serve in other less dangerous capacities is equal to serving in the military in times of war.

INDEED!
We gots a LOT more questionable translations than them!
--MormonDude(But I sure don't think our scripture is anything other that straight from the mouth of GOD.)
So they are Christians now?Not really...
That sentence means that CHRISTIANS are no more patriotic that MORMONS.
(In her opinion - I assume.)
And yet (mormon) Marriott is the largest purveyors of porn in the country. Go figure.
Like many things LDS there seems to be a variation to every story.
But if you are a "member" and never go to church, they will hunt you down like a wanted criminal no matter how many years it has been since you darkened the door of a mormon church.
I have two adult children that were baptized mormon when children, one was called after dozens of years of non-attendance and actually joining another church, to tithing settlement.
The other child is middle-aged, hasn't been in a mormon church for decades, and recently was hunted down and even though he threw the bishop off the property and told him "no contact", the mishies are knocking on the door with regularity.
And as far as the mormon excuse, "if someone just requests "name removal" through the "proper channels", that is all that's required, that is merely an attempt of the mormon church to control the situation.
Many people don't know that once a local "authority" is notified of your resignation, you are LEGALLY a non-member and further contact is harrassment.
She was either seriously misinformed or lying. I served with a number of Mormons during my nine years in the Navy.
Here's what Mitt had to say about it:
"My sons are all adults and they've made decisions about their careers and they've chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard. One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I'd be a great president. I respect that and respect all those and the way they serve this great country."
BYU doesn’t accept federal money.
I never heard that, but if it were in time of war, maybe she was embarrassed because most of the young men she knew were off on missions instead of in the military serving their country.
I don’t know if it comes from the tithings or from those who donate for the other needs of the Church any no matter where it comes from it assist the students greatly
You know what amaze me is that this calendar was light porn and inply same sex, which this young man was trying to taint the Missionires I think the Church had every right to tell him to get scram!
Those "pure" young men did it for the MONEY!
"BYU indirectly receives millions of dollars in federal funding each year in the form of Pell Grants and student loans given to students. It also is the direct beneficiary of research grants, including $1.2 million from the Department of Education for BYU's new Center for the Study of Europe, which opened in September."
And a new one is rising from the ground in downtown Indianaplois even as we type...
Only TWO choices?
