BYU doesn’t accept federal money.

It also is the direct beneficiary of research grants, including $1.2 million from the Department of Education for BYU's new Center for the Study of Europe, which opened in September."

I stand corrected. It appears that research grants for individuals doing research and Pell grants and student loans to students constitute accepting federal money. Applying that same logic, I guess my local grocery store is on the federal dole because it accepts federal money via food stamp payments by customers.
