On the Laura Ingraham show today she had Raymond Arroyo on again and they were talking about the election and the Bishop's meeting that he attended.
Laura Ingraham: Here is the problem, how many of the bishops voted for Obama.
Raymond Arroyo: ...The bishops I spoke to say that maybe half of their brother bishops if not more voted for Obama. Because they thought the symbol of Obama would overcome racism and be a great healer and unity.
This of course is total hearsay and not verifiable. If true, which I suspect it is than it certainly explains a lot. How in the world can we be surprised if 45 percent of Mass attending Catholics voted for Obama if that percentage or more of the Bishops did. Though even if this was ten or five percent it would still be scandalous.
Though to look on the bright side maybe the number of Catholic bishops voting for a pro-abortion candidate is down from previous years. The Bishops were certainly much more vocal this year with a large segment making statements on the election. Though as Raymond Arroyo also said we can't really expect the statements to make much difference when they come out just before an election and the animals have already escaped the barn with people being indoctrinated with culture of death beliefs from the time they are a child.
But I don't want to be all whinny about the bishops when some have been quite active and forceful in what should be our reaction to protecting life. American Papist covers some of the statement here.
Cardinal George's address to the USCCB was an excellent response in addressing these issues.
Though creating a true culture of life is certainly not on just the bishop's shoulders or the parish priests either, but on all of us to live the faith and to defend life.
Ping!
if I said what I was thinking.....I’d have to head back to confession.
This makes me ill.
Pope Benedict needs to clean house.
I can understand your pain and resentment, but you must resist the temptation to leave the house of God because of sinners at the pulpit. I too have been faced with confronting the populist feel-good vote-your-conscience sermons and there is one place during the mass that these people can be called out - during the petitions for public prayer. Stand up and pray out loud: “Lord please let your truth be known among our clergy that it is a grave sin to preach the heresy of relativism in our churches and “voting your conscience” is relativism.” Life is all that matters and as Jesus said: “You will always have the poor among you.” Care for them yes, but first give them life.
A “Clean Sweep” in my opinion, followed by a “purge” of the laity that isn’t really Roman Catholic.
While I can empathize with your reasons (I've been there far too often), the one you hurt most is God. If you are not comfortable in that parish, find another. I battled liturgical abuse at my former parish ... and won. But I did it for God, not for me. There are other options (freepmail me if you wish to discuss). In the meantime, check out the videos at this site.

That would be an interesting thread.
They are all the same here, I still have my Faith. I just refuse to enable the wicked who are running and ruining the American Church. I send them no money and will not grace them with the temple that God has given me to live within here on earth.
It would be most interesting to know how many of the bishops appointed or elevated by Papa Ratzinger voted for the baby killer. My suspicion is few or none. The direction of the episcopal body is a good one, because the current Pope takes his responsibility to “feed My sheep” seriously.
Just curious, but hasn't the vast majority of these bishops come in under the tenure of John Paul II and Benedict, two admittedly conservative popes?
Even if you performed a purge and put new kids in charge, what guarantee do you have that the new batch will vote differently then the old batch? Once they put on the mitre ... its like black robe disease on the US Supreme Court.
Pope B. said that the church may have to be smaller in the future to keep its adherence to the teachings of Jesus. Dismissing all the bishops who voted for 0bama would be a good place to start. The RCC needs to decide if it is serious about enforcing its teachings or if it is just a place where people come on Easter, Christmas and to be married and buried.
It was actions such as this that caused me to stop tithing years ago. I came to the conclusion that to fund the Bishops was to cooperate in evil. We do give donations but only to organizations that actually help people (Catholic orphanages for example) and the few collections that don’t fall under Parish Share.
No excuse for the laity to lose the Faith!
We have all the means to stay the course, including good Bishops and preachers.

“The bishops I spoke to say that maybe half of their brother bishops if not more voted for Obama. “
Why am I not surprised by this?
