FLDS Parents Could Face Charges for Abandoning their "Lost Boys"
KCPW News ^ | February 14, 2008

Posted on 02/22/2008 9:11:12 AM PST by Zakeet

They're called the "Lost Boys," the teenagers kicked out of their homes and communities by leaders of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to ensure there's an ample supply of single, young women who will one day become plural wives. Representative Lorie Fowlke (R-Orem), is running a bill to make this abandonment a felony.

"Estimates are that we've had more than 1,000 children - primarily in southern Utah - thrown out of their homes," Fowlke says. "What we were trying to do with this bill is criminalize this behavior and send a message to this community that they can't just throw away their children."

H.B. 23 adds child abandonment to the definition of child abuse, and makes it a felony crime. It also adds an enhancement if a parent or organization benefits from the child's abandonment to further an illegal enterprise, such as polygamy. This is the case with the FLDS church, says Roger Hoole, a lawyer who represents some of the displaced young men and sits on the board for the Utah Association for Justice. He says the church benefits from kicking out young men who would compete for plural wives. This, he says, has devastating consequences.

"There's a huge impact that's coming, like a tsunami, that's going to hit the state of Utah, when these boys get a little older and realize what has happened to them and get angry," Hoole says. "There's a real problem here."

Fowlke's bill gained unanimous support in a Senate committee this morning, and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

No one really knows the detail on some of those marriages and since then it been “he said” vs “he said” and only the Lord knows.

But I do know there are marriage for “time & eternity” and marriages for “time”, and marriage for “eternity”.

So unless there are offical document and not just accusations like the McCain/NYT affair it has no legs with me!

Re. Joseph marriages were sanction by the Lord ... Adultery has NEVER been sanctioned by the Lord.

That's not the half of it!

According to the Mormon scholar Todd Compton, in this LIST of Joseph's 33 plural wives:

The last time I checked, the LORD has never sanctioned adultery, OR swinging, OR pedophilia, OR statutory rape, OR incest.

Joseph also repeatedly lied about his sexual practices. And the last time I checked, the LORD had some rather harsh things to say about bearing false witness.

I have no clue what Foxy reason was for leaving the Church the Lord knows.

Your original comment didn't concern greyfoxx39; it spoke to why "most of those who leave the Church," about whom you made accusations concerning why they left. And you weren't speaking in "general terms," you listed specific reasons as to why "most left." And that accusation was made without support except for them being of your opinions, ONLY, which you earlier denied being the case.

Then best you don't speculate about "sins".

As I said I was speaking in gerneral and there is enough situations like that and many have said why they left.

Jesus also said dust your feet off with those who kick against the Church!
________________________________________________

No Jesus never said that...

He didnt mention any church

Jesus was talking about those of us who preach His Gospel

“And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words: when ye depart out of that house or city shake off the dust from your feet” Matthew 10:14

“and as many as may not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them” Mark 6:11

“and whomsoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them” Luke 9:5

The multiple marriages of Joseph Smith, from what I’ve seen, are documented and recorded. That means, it’s not “’he said she said’”. It’s a fact that while Joseph Smith was married to multiple wives, multiple times over he committed adultery by “marrying” women who were still married to other men who were alive.

That is a heck of a list, were all of those women really his wives? Has anyone tried to estimate how many women and girls Joseph Smith had sex with before he created his religion versus after he got it started?

I don't recall if it was Zakeet who originally posted that list....but I had never seen it before. But Zakeet may likely know more information concerning your questions.

But.......I guess, as someone noted earlier....."if you're at the top of the food chain....." you can do whatever you want and change the prophecies or whatever.

That is a typical attempt at deflecting from the sins of Joseph Smith.

Then best you don’t speculate about “sins”.

I never said anything about sinn about you or anyone here so stop with the insituations, and don’t try to include yourself in a general obsevation, because I speak from what other have choosen to share.

Plural was an ordinance that was sanctioning in the scriptures you can not erase that, and from the pattern in the scripture it happens with each new dispensation.

I’d offer some of my special banana pudding I just made, but you’re too far away. LOL Getting interesting though. OH Resty is on a roll tonight. She’ll get reinforcements soon enough. Spinning adultery is a nasty game though ...

For an interlude, here's the recipe for instant naner puddin' ... good stuff!

One Instant Banana Pudding mix, two cups of Vanilla Yogurt, two bananas cut up thick, eight crumbled shortbread cookies. Mix the yogurt and pudding then fold in the banana chunks and crumbled cookies. Top with two crumbled shortbread cookies and press the cookie pieces down into the pudding. Chill for one hour and grab a spoon ... forget a bowl, it won't last that long.
