FLDS Parents Could Face Charges for Abandoning their "Lost Boys"
KCPW News ^ | February 14, 2008

Posted on 02/22/2008 9:11:12 AM PST by Zakeet

They're called the "Lost Boys," the teenagers kicked out of their homes and communities by leaders of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to ensure there's an ample supply of single, young women who will one day become plural wives. Representative Lorie Fowlke (R-Orem), is running a bill to make this abandonment a felony.

"Estimates are that we've had more than 1,000 children - primarily in southern Utah - thrown out of their homes," Fowlke says. "What we were trying to do with this bill is criminalize this behavior and send a message to this community that they can't just throw away their children."

H.B. 23 adds child abandonment to the definition of child abuse, and makes it a felony crime. It also adds an enhancement if a parent or organization benefits from the child's abandonment to further an illegal enterprise, such as polygamy. This is the case with the FLDS church, says Roger Hoole, a lawyer who represents some of the displaced young men and sits on the board for the Utah Association for Justice. He says the church benefits from kicking out young men who would compete for plural wives. This, he says, has devastating consequences.

"There's a huge impact that's coming, like a tsunami, that's going to hit the state of Utah, when these boys get a little older and realize what has happened to them and get angry," Hoole says. "There's a real problem here."

Fowlke's bill gained unanimous support in a Senate committee this morning, and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

You are not God MHGinTN, Joseph marriages were sanction by the Lord and you have no say!

There were some mighty fine souls to enter the earth during plural marriage.

Adultery has NEVER been sanctioned by the Lord.

which leads another to reply why the X-er’s left and when it was pointed out why most left, it was called being judgmental

One supposes to KNOW why others leave the mormon church, making accusations of "wanting to sin"...

well, I "wanted to sin" by drinking a glass of iced tea, a cup of coffee, a glass of wine with a meal, wanted to wear any darned underwear I chose to wear, pay my tithe to a church because I wanted to honor God and help my church, not because I was coerced into paying so that I could reach some MAN'S idea of "exaltation", wanted to be able to attend the geographical church of MY choice, not be forced into attending a certain one by church leaders, wanted my children to be able to have their friends and families attend their weddings according to THEIR desires, not be forced to leave some out of the wedding party because they were "unworthy". and if I chose to leave a church, as I have done since, just say goodbye to my pastor and ministers and have my records transferred to another, as MOST Christians feel free to do......Oh, yeah, I wanted to sin all right!

And I ENJOY all this "sinning"...having a cup of nice coffee right at this minute. Beats the heck out of that nasty Postum!

That post was in general and things I have obseved over the 8 years.

So does this mean you have no sources from which to answer my questions posted in #948 which was in response to the accusations you made in your post #947?

In other words, your accusations and claims are only your opinions, your own anecdotal evidence, and/or unfounded?

OH prove that adultery was ever approved or ordered by God. If you can do it you will have cancelled at least one of the Ten Commandments to do so. But more than likely you will just be violating two others in the effort.

Some see apostate mormons who want to leave that oppressive situation as the "Angels of Hell", evidently.

Furthermore, if this statement you made, "That post [as copied below] was in general and things I have obseved over the 8 years," is true, then, what was said by greyfoxx39 in post #945 IS actually, and, in fact, ALSO TRUE concerning the following:

Restornu: "It seems those who kick against the Church know they should be living those ordinances but love the ways of the world more."

greyfox39: "That is YOUR opinion, nothing more"

Plural was an ordinance that was sanctioning in the scriptures you can not erase that, and from the pattern in the scripture it happens with each new dispensation.

Joseph Smith was married to woman who were already married to other men who were LIVING while they were still married.

That isn’t plurality; that’s ADULTERY.

Well, you KNOW that "judge not lest ye be judged" does NOT apply when it comes to really IMPORTANT commandments like the word of wisdom.

My former mormon husband and his father both had to drive a 30-mile round trip every day, just to have their morning coffee in a neighboring town, lest they be seen! FIL gone now, but according to my daughter, Ex is still doing it, LOL.

I have no clue what Foxy reason was for leaving the Church the Lord knows.

As I said I was speaking in gerneral and there is enough situations like that and many have said why they left.

Some don’t and I don’t care to know!

I can only speak of what I do know when members who have left years ago return and tell their story!

That is a heck of a list, were all of those women really his wives?

Has anyone tried to estimate how many women and girls Joseph Smith had sex with before he created his religion versus after he got it started?
