They're called the "Lost Boys," the teenagers kicked out of their homes and communities by leaders of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to ensure there's an ample supply of single, young women who will one day become plural wives. Representative Lorie Fowlke (R-Orem), is running a bill to make this abandonment a felony.
"Estimates are that we've had more than 1,000 children - primarily in southern Utah - thrown out of their homes," Fowlke says. "What we were trying to do with this bill is criminalize this behavior and send a message to this community that they can't just throw away their children."
H.B. 23 adds child abandonment to the definition of child abuse, and makes it a felony crime. It also adds an enhancement if a parent or organization benefits from the child's abandonment to further an illegal enterprise, such as polygamy. This is the case with the FLDS church, says Roger Hoole, a lawyer who represents some of the displaced young men and sits on the board for the Utah Association for Justice. He says the church benefits from kicking out young men who would compete for plural wives. This, he says, has devastating consequences.
"There's a huge impact that's coming, like a tsunami, that's going to hit the state of Utah, when these boys get a little older and realize what has happened to them and get angry," Hoole says. "There's a real problem here."
Fowlke's bill gained unanimous support in a Senate committee this morning, and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

I've heard this concept in church for a long time; but I cannot find it Scripturally.
Revelation 20:12-15 seems pretty clear: the DEAD is all inclusive. THEY gets judged by what's in BOOKS.
Any NOT in the BoL are out of luck.

That appears to be correct. MHG's post was informative, as well. Thanks for your post, Elsie. My only disagreement with your statement concerns the "'judgment' of believers" part. MHG has stated that part of it the way my understanding of the Scriptures read. If you disagree, I think that would be potential for a great thread for discussing Scriptures and could be beneficial and enlightening. In either event, we all agree on what is most important: if someone's name is not in the Book of Life, they will not enter heaven, which is only through belief in Christ Jesus and accepting Him as Savior. : )
Apparently the church doesn’t agree.
I don’t have to go to those sites. I have a family member who was in the Mormon church for 17 years - he was a Mechelzdik Priest. I know all the about the church - and I also know that many, many members of that church do not tell the truth when you point about what the church stands for. Since he has left the church and preaches against the church you would not believe what he has had to endure from the church.
How do you accept His atonement...What is involved with that?
Even though I will see my Dad on the other side of Glory, his life's end, on this earth, is not a day I want to have to go through.

Ah. Yes, it is. It was also a critical factor in my not voting for Romney. Some might consider that flip-flopping on my part, I suppose, since I was also pro-choice (or pro-murder, if you prefer) at one time. My mom was 15 when I was born, turned 16 the next month, and had a very hard life because of it. When I was much younger, I thought she should have had me aborted. When she was dying of cancer a few years ago, we got to spend much time talking together, and she maintained that abortion had never been an option to her, although it was offered. She said that being our mother (I also have a couple of other brothers) was the best part of her life, and that it made all the rest worth while. Now that I have children of my own, I understand her completely on that subject. My oldest is 16, now, and my conversion on the subject of abortion was made several years before his birth, after another of a string of miscarriages my wife suffered before his birth.
actually should have said “exaltation.” “Salvation” in the sense of resurrection is available to all, but it involves a lot of explanation. In order to gain all the blessings which are available in the Celestial Kingdom, we must have been married in the temple. We will be judged on how we treat our spouses. We expect to be together after this life.
Ah yes. Back to the celestial marriage and the benefits of becoming ‘GODS’ when we die with worlds to rule.
Actually, no it isn’t, because the doctrine and histories and teachings of LDS support these groups.

I am a christian, and belong to no particular denomination. I go by the salvation of the Bible that doesn’t mention Joseph Smith anywhere.
I don't think any person has the right or knowledge to answer that.
The Bible is very clear about it. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
If a person choses to not accept Christ, though, I believe it is then up to God to make the final decision. Not us.

(and just between you and me...the Bible clearly states what happens to people that reject Jesus Christ as Savior).
