Childish behavior |

They're called the "Lost Boys," the teenagers kicked out of their homes and communities by leaders of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to ensure there's an ample supply of single, young women who will one day become plural wives. Representative Lorie Fowlke (R-Orem), is running a bill to make this abandonment a felony.
"Estimates are that we've had more than 1,000 children - primarily in southern Utah - thrown out of their homes," Fowlke says. "What we were trying to do with this bill is criminalize this behavior and send a message to this community that they can't just throw away their children."
H.B. 23 adds child abandonment to the definition of child abuse, and makes it a felony crime. It also adds an enhancement if a parent or organization benefits from the child's abandonment to further an illegal enterprise, such as polygamy. This is the case with the FLDS church, says Roger Hoole, a lawyer who represents some of the displaced young men and sits on the board for the Utah Association for Justice. He says the church benefits from kicking out young men who would compete for plural wives. This, he says, has devastating consequences.
"There's a huge impact that's coming, like a tsunami, that's going to hit the state of Utah, when these boys get a little older and realize what has happened to them and get angry," Hoole says. "There's a real problem here."
Fowlke's bill gained unanimous support in a Senate committee this morning, and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.
A Fish called Wanda ???
My memory is not so precise on that ...
I think that she is here...but only lurking.
Well I found it best to be cautious when folks call your leaders false and take thing out of context.
That to me is a red flag!:)
To proceed with caution..
But; if someone, with better access to data than I, thought your screen name was accurate, they could compile a list of all the ladies with sons named andy & mike and then perhpas you wouldn't be quite as anonymous.
"Look me in the eyes," said O'Brien. "What country is Oceania at war with?"
He knew what was meant by Oceania and that he himself was a citizen of Oceania. He also remembered Eurasia and Eastasia; but who was at war with whom he did not know. In fact he had not been aware that there was any war.
"I don't remember."
"Oceania is at war with Eastasia. Do you remember that now?"
"Yes."
"Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia. Since the beginning of your life, since the beginning of the Party, since the beginning of history, the war has continued without a break, always the same war. Do you remember that?"
"Yes."
1984 has long been the first book to which we have turned for a vivid picture of a government that has used war to justify infringement on freedom; that has used speech codes to limit everyone's ability to understand higher concepts or concepts that favour human individuality; that uses powerful media to build unwarranted consensus and rewrite history; and that has used technology to nip political opposition and individualistic or eccentric practices in the bud. Far from being a caricature, it insightfully and skillfully characterizes the tendencies and motivations of unlimited government power, and the horrifying, hopeless result of such government: humanity denied its freedom to think, to be rational, and to dissent...its freedom to be human.
If, after finishing 1984, you find yourself nervous and paranoid, then: good. You have just taken a step closer to respecting the importance of human freedom and dignity, and the dangers in allowing governments to usurp your freedom to dissent or be different. All that remains is to fight to maintain or regain your ownlife (read the book, you'll know what we mean).

Snippets...
One did not know what happened inside the Ministry of Love, but it was possible to guess: tortures, drugs, delicate instruments that registered your nervous reactions, gradual wearing-down by sleeplessness and solitude and persistent questioning. Facts, at any rate, could not be kept hidden. They could be tracked down by enquiry, they could be squeezed out of you by torture. But if the object was not to stay alive but to stay human, what difference did it ultimately make? They could not alter your feelings: for that matter you could not alter them yourself, even if you wanted to. They could lay bare in the utmost detail everything that you had done or said or thought; but the inner heart, whose workings were mysterious even to yourself, remained impregnable.

He thought of the telescreen with its never-sleeping ear. They could spy upon you night and day, but if you kept your head you could still outwit them. With all their cleverness they had never mastered the secret of finding out what another human being was thinking. Perhaps that was less true when you were actually in their hands.
*crickets*
To elaborate further on my previous post to you which stated,
“Scripture is inspired...
Individual persons interpretations of Scripture is not...”
I would assume that within the Catholic Church, transubstantiation, and the Scriptures used to support that view are considered inspired....however, within many other non-Catholic Christian churches, the scriptures used to show that transubstantiation is false, are also considered inspired...so, you tell me, both churches relying on inspired Scriptures, come to two completely different conclusions, regarding transubstantiation, and these two views are completely at odds with each other...so you tell, me, which view is correct?....both groups use inspired Scripture, but both groups come to completely different conclusions...
So tho the Scripture is indeed sacred and inspired, mans interpretation of those sacred Scriptures is not inspired... its mans attempt to interpret and study and come to an understanding of what the Bible is saying...
There is a thread running right now on FR, regarding this very subject of transubstantiation...this is just one subject among many where different churches vary completely...who is going to be the one, to say, that your view and your interpretation is the only possibility?...does anyone posting here claim to be so infallible?...
So, tho Scripture is inspired, individual churches and individual persons interpretations of those Scriptures is not inspired, but of course, if someone here thinks that they are more inspired than the rest of us, I am sure they can speak up, and be made known, and inform the rest of us of their authority and infallibility...
But you ARE one of a kind!
Each of us posters have a definite style to their thoughts and writings.
We come from different backgrounds and different veiwpoints.
Many times I think a lot of these threads are a little like the blind men and the elephant.
I would never rely on you for any information on this matter..
What’s red and green and goes eighty miles an hour?
There were those Jesus also said I do not know you!
Matt 7
21 ¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
So are they!
Why doesn't a Living Prophet® say, "STOP!!!"
Use OUR book!
Even simple plain reading of the Bible, often produces many different views...this is the case with both transubstantiation, and regarding the founding of the church upon Peter...those are very simple readings, from which whole great big discussions take place...
One fish, two fish...
Sorry, mom. It looks pretty clear to me, here:
The Lord God gives us stern warnings about changing His Word—
Revelation 22:18-19, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Proverbs 30:5-6, Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
The Bible was written 1,400 to 1,800 years ago.
Joseph Smith was “inspired” to add to those Words in 1820.
Joseph Smith did rewrite the Bible to suit his “visions”
and wrote more “bibles” to suit his revised “origional visions”
Good ideas. I hope they consider such options to make these people come to their senses. The days of frontier living or wilderness families is at an end.
Sorry you had a front-row seat to Waco. It was horrific enough on the telly. I do think whatever is done would require careful coordination among the border states and I don’t know if that will happen given the adversarial nature of our politics these days. But your ideas are best.
Have a good evening.
This is true, and as you say, true of all of us....here I thought, you thought I was special...now I am crushed...LOL...
But of course, you are correct...we all present a certain aspect on FR, colored by much of our life, and what we have experienced...I think your example of the blind men and the elephant is quite an appropriate comparison....all we really do see is snippets, of each other, but we dont have enough of those snippets, to see the whole person...very good, Elsie...
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Why is that ????
If you believe in Christ and accept his atonement in remission of your sins, you will be “saved” in the sense that you will receive a degree of “glory” in the hereafter greater than you can imagine.
In order to receive exaltation, you must do more.
