FLDS Parents Could Face Charges for Abandoning their "Lost Boys"
KCPW News ^ | February 14, 2008

Posted on 02/22/2008 9:11:12 AM PST by Zakeet

They're called the "Lost Boys," the teenagers kicked out of their homes and communities by leaders of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to ensure there's an ample supply of single, young women who will one day become plural wives. Representative Lorie Fowlke (R-Orem), is running a bill to make this abandonment a felony.

"Estimates are that we've had more than 1,000 children - primarily in southern Utah - thrown out of their homes," Fowlke says. "What we were trying to do with this bill is criminalize this behavior and send a message to this community that they can't just throw away their children."

H.B. 23 adds child abandonment to the definition of child abuse, and makes it a felony crime. It also adds an enhancement if a parent or organization benefits from the child's abandonment to further an illegal enterprise, such as polygamy. This is the case with the FLDS church, says Roger Hoole, a lawyer who represents some of the displaced young men and sits on the board for the Utah Association for Justice. He says the church benefits from kicking out young men who would compete for plural wives. This, he says, has devastating consequences.

"There's a huge impact that's coming, like a tsunami, that's going to hit the state of Utah, when these boys get a little older and realize what has happened to them and get angry," Hoole says. "There's a real problem here."

Fowlke's bill gained unanimous support in a Senate committee this morning, and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

Apples and oranges, OMm...

You have already, repeatedly destroyed your credibility. You would have a tough time getting anyone to give you credence on that one (because of your history and because of Billy Graham's).

And...Are you declaring that this cited Mormon historian is inaccurate on the issue of Joseph Smith consumating his in time marriage to Helen Mar Kimball? As you would say...prove it!

And..I am glad that you brought Billy Graham up in regard to this issue...because the contrast between Billy Graham and Joseph Smith in the context of sexual purity and fidelity in marriage IS SO ABSOLUTELY CLEAR!!!!!!

While Billy Graham wouldn't even be alone with another woman in an elevator, or in a room, or in any other situation...Joseph Smith was secretly, from the public and his wife (Emma), marrying and bedding other women!

Billy Graham's life of sexual purity, honesty and humility speaks volumes against anyone bringing such charges against him (and no one would believe it).

Joseph Smith on the other hand...He is a confirmed debaucherer (and almost everyone would believe it)! What kind of spouse would you want OMm...the Billy Graham kind or the Joseph Smith kind?

Then, who's head was the marriage in?

It is your posted reference, OMm.

And then, OMm posted an inference that the marriage was just contrived by an anti-mormon author's imagination.I responded that restornu, and even Mormon historians, confirmed that this marriage was a historical reality. I asked OMm to confirm that he was alleging that this marriage never really took place...and, as in several other cases, OMm did not respond. OMm, then, switched positions and asked that I prove that consumation took place. When I posted a Mormon historian's confirmation that it did take place...OMm went silent on the subject, again. Each of these ineffective Mormon defenses will, unfortunately, be used again...around and around they go.

Of course.

Link from that site led to  H. Michael Marquardt and further info:

H. MICHAEL MARQUARDT is an independent historian and a longtime research consultant of the Latter-day Saints (Mormons). He has been publishing on Mormonism for more than thirty years. He is the author of The Rise of Mormonism: 1816-1844 and The Joseph Smith Revelations: Text and Commentary..from an editorial review on Amazon.com

http://www.xmission.com/~research/about/books2.htm

In my earlier booklet The Book of Abraham Papyrus Found, published in October 1975, it was shown that Joseph Smith did not correctly represent the Book of Abraham text as to what was written on the Hor Sensen Papyrus. It was also shown that Joseph Smith did not understand the ancient Egyptian language when working on the Book of Abraham. These Egyptian Papers are issued in this present publication to reinforce the knowledge that Joseph Smith knew nothing on how to correctly render the papyrus characters into the English language. Students of the Book of Abraham problem should be aware that this is one of the great values to having the Joseph Smith Egyptian Papers published.

The manuscripts included in this compilation were written in English but were based upon the Egyptian papyri which were in the possession of Joseph Smith. The numbering of the manuscripts and the handwriting identification was derived from the list published in the LDS Church publication BYU Studies Vol. 11, No, 4, page 351. These documents were first published by Modern Microfilm Company of Salt Lake City, Utah in April 1966. While at that time these manuscripts had not been numbered and labeled, it is nevertheless a fact that the manuscripts do represent Joseph Smith's dictation to his scribes and also his own handwriting which appears on part of Egyptian Manuscript No.4.

More on Marquardt's papers here: Link

Apologies if you have already posted this info...

It doesn't matter to OMm.

The Rev. Billy Graham, a spiritual leader to 10 Presidents, and one of the greatest men of the last Century, is an "apostate" to OMm (I am using OMn's own words).

Everything you posted pby about Rev. Graham not even permitting himself to be alone in a room with another woman has been documented and verified by countless witnesses, but it doesn't matter to Mormons.

You see - the sins and sexual immorality of Joseph Smith cannot be covered up, so Christians must be smeared and degraded in order to distract the facts.
