They're called the "Lost Boys," the teenagers kicked out of their homes and communities by leaders of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to ensure there's an ample supply of single, young women who will one day become plural wives. Representative Lorie Fowlke (R-Orem), is running a bill to make this abandonment a felony.
"Estimates are that we've had more than 1,000 children - primarily in southern Utah - thrown out of their homes," Fowlke says. "What we were trying to do with this bill is criminalize this behavior and send a message to this community that they can't just throw away their children."
H.B. 23 adds child abandonment to the definition of child abuse, and makes it a felony crime. It also adds an enhancement if a parent or organization benefits from the child's abandonment to further an illegal enterprise, such as polygamy. This is the case with the FLDS church, says Roger Hoole, a lawyer who represents some of the displaced young men and sits on the board for the Utah Association for Justice. He says the church benefits from kicking out young men who would compete for plural wives. This, he says, has devastating consequences.
"There's a huge impact that's coming, like a tsunami, that's going to hit the state of Utah, when these boys get a little older and realize what has happened to them and get angry," Hoole says. "There's a real problem here."
Fowlke's bill gained unanimous support in a Senate committee this morning, and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.
I thought the latest spin was that he married her but they did not have sex???
They must be attempting a clintonian triangulation here.
Those links are from worthless sources. How about providing REAL Egyptologists huh?
HERE ya go!
Are you still denying what Mormon historians accept as fact (that 37 year old Joseph Smith married 14 year old Helen Mar Kimball, among other teenagers)?

Was it just a one night stand without a ceremony ?????
Maybe there is more to Joseph Smith rejecting Helen after the sexual accounter...
Maybe her exclusion had less to do with the dance and more to do with the fact he had “had her” and thus moved on to the next victim..
After all, she was a challenge ...
She didnt want to and her Mom didnt want her too...
it took a lot of threatening and cajoling to persuade Helen and her Mom to acquiesce...
her Mom was not happy about the situation even then...
and Helen learned that she had been used by the pedophile, Joseph Smith, when she expected to attend the dance with her “husband” and found out that she had been kicked to the curb...
It has reached the point where I ask myself, do these Mormon posters actually believe these fabrications regarding the Smithian documents/ Or do they know these are fabrications and are trying out different lies to try and construct a plausibility scenario to which their religion can attached now that so much has been exposed as fraudulent? How could anyone with a thread of honesty actually make authenticity assertions regarding the absolute fanatasy called The Book of Abraham? And they keep coming up with more ways to promote the same fantasy as if it had even a grain of truth in it. No wonder they’re taught to push milk, always milk ... until the proselyte is so enmeshed in the lies of Mormonism that one more bigger lie will go down smoothly! Of course, the handshake and gesture rituals lifted from Masonic rites will be touted as so sacred that they cannot be exposed to the world until ...
I know that it is hard too keep up because the spinning changes direction constantly. It is kind of like riding a whip-o-whirl at the County fair.
At first, they were silent on the issue.
Then, restornu claimed that it was a marriage in eternity....but history points out that even Helen Mar Kimball was surprised, and distraught, over learning that it was a real marriage in time, as well.
And then, OMm posted an inference that the marriage was just contrived by an anti-mormon author's imagination.I responded that restornu, and even Mormon historians, confirmed that this marriage was a historical reality. I asked OMm to confirm that he was alleging that this marriage never really took place...and, as in several other cases, OMm did not respond.
OMm, then, switched positions and asked that I prove that consumation took place. When I posted a Mormon historian's confirmation that it did take place...OMm went silent on the subject, again.
Each of these ineffective Mormon defenses will, unfortunately, be used again...around and around they go.
Your family's eternity is dependent on you marrying me, Helen!
Survival of the fittest and best looking...
Darwin would have been proud..
:)
IIRC, the guy that maintains the site is still a mormon too.
So, that’s your proof?
Well, in that case, Billy Graham has thirty mistresses.
Same level of proof, isn’t it?
it took a lot of threatening and cajoling to persuade Helen and her Mom to acquiesce...
Your family’s eternity is dependent on you marrying me, Helen!

Child abuse...
Emotional abuse...
And then the sexual abuse...
Denied.
I guess Helen Mar Kimball’s father really really really wanted to be a god in the next life!

Yes, well he will get to talk to the REAL god...
God will ask himm why he did not protect his daughter from rape...
You are bloviating and misstating my positions again. Get it right, for a change.
Yes, well he will get to talk to the REAL God...
Well then, it is safe to say that Brigham Young isn't in heaven.
He is in the 'other' place.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I wondered about the mormons and “dancing”
The Quakers and the Amish etc would not have danced then, just as now...
Holiness required no mixing of the genders etc...
But it seems that the mormons were secular in their lifestyles...
From the New York Times in 1901...
There is mention that the dances had not changed in 50-75 years...
