The Pope replacing Jesus as head of church..

When you say that, I don't know how to take you seriously. It just doesn't answer to anything the Church says about herself or to what I hear priests say. It's another instance of a charge which passes me right by. I know you addressed it at the Church, but you might as well say the church insists that everyone wear polka-dotted neckties.

Our salvation is not a gift and yet it is. It is ours at Baptism, but some people blow it by committing sin and not repenting. They lose their gift! And we can lose it too if we don't repent!

OSAS doesn't work for Christ. He will judge us all according to how we lived our lives.

The internet has done for heresy what the printing press did for Protestantism.

Of course, as a Catholic, I suppose I would have to say, "The Internet has done for heresy what the printing press did for heresy." :-0

That's the bad news. The good news is that the Internet has drastically lowered the barrier to entry into the discussion, so that, while there's a lot of dross, there is considerable gold as well.

If one can't explain how Jesus was fully human and fully God (for just one aspect of the Incarnation)

But we can; Nicaea, Ephesus, and Chalcedon all said some pretty substantial things on the topic.

Of course, in any case, we're explaining a mystery, and (by definition) mysteries cannot be completely explained or understood by created intellect.

So you are saying, then, that once saved or "born again" you can go out and commit any kind of sin at all and it counts for naught?

Utter nonsense to me.

We are responsible for our decisions to act in certain ways!!!

Do you live in America under American law??

Then you should understand this say kind of responsibility toward Christ and your faith.

I've been following when I can, sometimes in real time ...

I was amazed the sheer intensity of antiCatholic bigotry but I am grateful for the posting.

I have found many resources that I intend to follow up on.

I've been blessed to meet some delightful and helpful people.

Spirit does work in amazing ways.

Pax

**Then why did Jesus tell those on His left hand (who believed in Him) to depart from Him into the fire prepared for the devil and his angels? It was because they did not feed the hungry and thirsty, clothe the naked, visit the sick and those in prison. "As you did it not to the least of these, you did it not to me." Matthew 25:31-46**

BTTT -- you are so right. And I believe anyone who has read the Beaitudes could understand this.

**Maybe Satan is more clever than you think.**

He's more clever than any of us think.

**Maybe he's start more gradually.**

Does a fake Rolex GRADUALLY look a lot like a real one?

No, Satan wasted no time, making numerous versions of Christianity. The apostles warned of such present in their day.

**Church plus tradition plus Bible is too strong. Too many things reinforce each other.**

Satan could say "I'll give it all to them if that's what they want, so it looks like what those apostles have, but they won't know how to rightly divide it".

**So break away one thing at a time. First, remove the authority of the Church in succession from the Apostles, gathered around Peter.**

More precisely: First keep people from obeying Peter and the apostles by being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; that must be stopped pronto. And no better way than confuse their understanding of the Godhead.
The result: NOT baptizing in the name of Jesus. It's the only name that has power over sin.

Second, Satan tells people that receiving the Holy Ghost is not a supernatural experience like in Acts. "Oh, you feel pricked in your heart, or maybe a warm feeling? Yes, that's it. You've received the Spirit". (I've seen people's emotions overwhelmed at an animated movie)

**More than replacing God, Satan wants to separate man from God, eternally. And how better to do that than to put man in a position where each individual can decide for himself what religious truth is, and what it means ... and still claim to wear the mantle of authentic Christianity.**

I agree. And I believe the Holy Ghost filled church of Jesus Christ started in 33 A.D., and the devil started more than one variation that same year.

good nite,
Lord bless

**I am already forgiven.**

What about if you go out and tell a lie tomorrow? Cheat on your wife? View pornography?? Get drunk? Not attend Mass on Sunday?

No way you can already be forgiven for mistakes you might make in the future. It is a false belief.

**He will do his good works through you.**

So you do believe in good works! Bingo!

Don't you think that the Lord motivates Catholics to their good works in a like manner?

You wouldn't vote for Romney would you?

I'm not sure who I will vote for at this time, but I think Giuliani-Gingrich ticket would be a ballot box buster! A lot of people would be voting for them:

Giuliani for the security
Gingrich for the brains

should turn the other cheek

My dad used to say the Bible never tells us what to do after we turn the other cheek (we run out of cheeks, after all. we're never told to just keep turning them back and forth).

I am no longer Catholic, but am so sick of people who think it is their duty to bash other religions. I understand people wanting to talk about why they think their religion is better for them, but the outright bashing of other religions is ridiculous. Because I know when someone bashes a religion it makes me want to be join right up with whatever church is insulting other people's spiritual beliefs. That's sure a prime example of Christianity.
