Anyone up for sponsoring a Rick Warren ping list?

Then Warren moves into this Muslim-Christian brotherhood sophistry.

Purpose-Driven Dhimmi ping.

While I thought PDL was ~mostly harmless~ fluff, it does appear that Warren has jumped the shark.

"In other words, Rick Warren seems to want to be everything to everyone.?

This is nothing new. When Warren is with Baptists, he says he is a Baptist. When he is before a different denomination he denies he is a Baptist. Go figure.

I think post #9 hits the nail on the head: Warren saw only what he wanted to see -- a new market for his books and teaching materials.

I'd think Paul would have been Turkish, not Syrian.

In other words, Rick Warren seems to want to be everything to everyone.

YA THINK? Like so many others, fame and FORTUNE have changed the man and moved him to compromise in many, many areas of his "ministry".

Thanks for the information. Is Warren in over his head or is he "simple", stupid, devious or greedy?

Joseph Farrah is a hypocrite. Here is a man who went on a one year rant about Y2K. When Y2K turned out to be hype sold by snake oil salesmen, Farrah's defense was that he consulted well known theologian Tim LaHaye. However, I did not see refunds offered for all the Y2K profits on World Net Daily.
On the other hand, Warren has set up three foundations through which to distribute 90 percent of the proceeds from the book back into global ministry. Warren paid back salary to his home church before the book was published and refuses a salary.
I am not a Warren apologist, I think if he made these comments they were wrong. Additionally, in some places in his book he "stretched" theology to fit a thesis. However, I would put his theology and sanity up against Farrah's any day of the week.

You might be interested in the last two paragraphs of this. It's not about the Syria incident, but it is about Warren.

Here is something I found that addresses this subject:

Always good to get both sides of the subject, (even if Rick Warren is just a ear tickling preacher)

I dare say that this pastor is losing some of his congregation. Hard to believe that such political statements are coming out of a pastor.
