With trouble brewing in Kansas again, this new book from "Icons of Evolution" author is timely:

*****

The latest in a series of cogent and provocative reference books to the current controversies of our age. The Politically Incorrect Guide series (or, as we like to call them, the PIG books) have dealt with—in order—American History, Islam and the Crusades, Science, and Women, Sex, and Feminism, and later on this year we’ll see a guide to English and American Literature. Each of the books contains clear, no-nonsense explanations of these important subjects—each and every one free of the usual academic cant that has come to obscure truth and beauty in American education and media.

In the newest PIG, distinguished scientist Jonathan Wells describes in clear, non-technical language, who is fighting whom, the roots of the conflict, and the evidence for and against both Darwinism and Intelligent Design. He also explains what is ultimately at stake for liberals and conservatives, Christians and non-Christians, educators, policymakers, and scientists.

As the controversy continues to rage in school districts around the country, this PIG is sure to become essential reading for conservatives engaged in the debate.

Jonathan Wells received his Ph.D. in biology from the University of California at Berkeley and a Ph.D. in theology from Yale University. He is the author of two books, as well as many articles in scientific and scholarly journals. He is currently a Senior Fellow at the Discovery Institute in Seattle, Washington, where he lives with his family.

Why is a book review published under the religion catagory?

The only thing at stake is realism.

Because of who commanded Jonathon Wells to his mission.

"When Father chose me to enter a PhD program in 1978, I welcomed the opportunity to prepare myself for battle." Jonathan Wells

Wells seems to be a reputable scientist... I certainly agree with him on his ID position.. Some of the anti-ID folks are claiming that he is a "Moonie"... Do you know anything about that?

Thanks for the link... That seems to settle the question... Wells was a "Moonie".... Well, he got the "creation" part right anyway... :-)

Interesting tagline... I'm assuming that you put yourself in the category of the "wise"?

Romans 1:21 "For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.."

If you read the rest of this passage.. You might be surprised at what the foolish thinking (regarding God) produces in those that consider themselves "wise"...

Interesting tagline...

I try.

If you read the rest of this passage

Heck and darnation preachers often say things like this - it's their bread and butter - doesn't make it the case, or even likely.

No matter who preaches it or doesn't preach it isn't the point... Romans chapter 1 is what God says about those that think they are wise, but in reality are very foolish...

I thought it was what Paul said about idol-worshippers

Romans chapter 1 is what Paul says God says about those that think they are wise, but in reality are very foolish.

Adjusted for accuracy.
