COLUMBUS, OH: Bishop Katherine celebrates transgender Jesus

By Hans Zeiger VirtueOnline Correspondent www.virtueonline.org

COLUMBUS, OHIO (6/21/06)-While addressing a morning Eucharist at the 75th General Convention of the Episcopal Church, Presiding Bishop-elect Katherine Jefferts Schori declared, "Our mother Jesus gives birth to a new creation. And you and I are His children."

With Jefferts Schori as the leader-to-be of the Episcopal Chuch, it seems that the church will move beyond gender-inclusive language to transgender-inclusive language.

Yesterday however, the Episcopal Church's House of Bishops refused to even consider a resolution that would affirm the exclusive Lordship of Jesus Christ as "the only name by which any person may be saved." The Rev. Canon Eugene McDowell of the Diocese of North Carolina explained, "This type of language was used in 1920s and 1930s to alienate the type of people who were executed. It was called the Holocaust."

Perhaps Episcopalians would be more receptive of a resolution affirming the supreme transexuality of

Believe it or not, I've heard worse IMO: an Easter message delivered by an ELCA pastor focusing on butterflies and flowers

Hmm, I've also heard an interesting ELCA sermon: the pastorette spoke for 40 minutes about the movie Pay it Forward. She worked herself into a fine fit of tears with nary a mention of God or Christ. It seems to be a pattern with them.

How did the corruption in the Episcopal church ever get so deep?

I am nearly speechless. The cardinal doctrine of the church is compared with Nazi propaganda! This creature Eugene McDowell is no Christian, and in his final habitation he may become far better acquainted with Nazis.

If I were so unlucky as to be an Episcopalian, I would literally drop everything and run from the church forever. My pity and prayers are with the faithful who remain.

It seems to be a pattern with them.

It is indeed a pattern dutifully imparted by homeletics professors in the Seminaries; the pattern is called "transformational preaching". The technique is to use evocative language and narrative, particularly first-person, to draw the hearer into the story; but there is no real proclamation for the technique demands that the story end with "draw your own conclusions".

It is basically Rogersian therapy from the pulpit.

Dear God, my FRiends! How did this denomination fall so far and so fast? This sort of nonsense seems to be happening more and more. Not sure if we just hear about more of it because of better news transmission or if I should skip ahead in my Bible reading to Revelations.

I will pray and work to keep the ELCA from following this path of apostasy. I know there are other FReepers who feel that the ELCA is beyond redemption, but I know I must at least try.

Keep the faith!

Tell the Story!

Sing the song!

Sing this hymn, which we shall use to begin the Liturgy this coming Lord's Day as we commemorate the 476th anniversary of the Presentation of the Augsburg Confession:

"Rise, Ye Children of Salvation"
by Justus Falckner, 1672-1723
Translated by Emma R. Bevan, 1827-1909

1. Rise, ye children of salvation,
All who cleave to Christ, the Head.
Wake, arise, O mighty nation,
Ere the Foe on Zion tread.
He draws nigh and would defy
All the hosts of God Most High.

2. Saints and heroes long before us
Firmly o this ground have stood;
See their banner waving o'er us,
Conquerors through the Savior's blood.
Ground we hold whereon of old
Fought the faithful and the bold.

3. Fighting, we shall be victorious
By the blood of Christ, our Lord;
On our foreheads, bright and glorious,
Shines the witness of His Word;
Spear and shield on battle-field,
His great name we cannot yield.

4. When His servants stand before Him,
Each receiving his reward;
When His saints in light adore Him,
Giving glory to the Lord,
"Victory!" our songs shall be
Like the thunder of the sea.

The Lutheran Hymnal:
Hymn #472
Text: Jude 3
Author: Justus Falckner, 1697, cento
Translated by: Emma R. Bevan, 1858
Titled: "Auf, ihr Christen, Christi Glieder"
Composer: Joachim Neander, 1680
Tune: "Neander"

I think all the pretense is gone. Even they can't hide their absurd secular-humanism-leftism any longer, much less pretend it has anything to do with orthodox Christianity!

As Karl Marx (whom I'm sure they admire!) once said, they have - in their own inimitable way turned tragedy into farce!

Bonhoffer had some interesting comments about American Christianity. He basically said that while the US had more "religion", they had less Christ.

Seems like he was right on the money.

Julian of Norwich was speaking of God the Father, not Christ. (I happen to know the passage you reference fairly well, because somebody turned it into an anthem and we sang it in our old ECUSA parish.) “As surely as God is our father, so surely God is our mother. That is why God tells us, ‘It is I. It is I, the power and goodness of fatherhood. It is I, the wisdom and love of motherhood. It is I, the light and grace that is love. I am the Trinity. I am the unity. I am the one who teaches you to love. I am the one who makes you yearn for me! I am the one who responds to all your genuine desires.'”

Since God has plainly declared in Scripture that He is to be called Father, this seems rather borderline to me. Although I can see what Julian is driving at -- since all good comes from God, then the virtues we associate with motherhood rather than fatherhood must also come from Him.

But there really isn't ANY theological basis whatsoever for viewing Christ as female.

To all remaining Episcopalians of good faith: Get out and don't look back lest you be turned into a pillar of salt.

Dear TonyRo76--please put this out to the Lutheran PING! list. aberaussie--please put this on your blog as well. This is somewhat off-topic, but there is a great need to reach as many ELCA Lutherans with this action as possible as soon as possible.

To all ELCA Freepers:

Freep the "Evangelical Lutheran Worship" liturgy/hymnal!

Please do two things--the first easy, and the other hard:

1. There is a petition circulating around in orthodox ELCA circles, concerning the bogus "Evangelical Lutheran Worship" liturgy/hymnal. Please copy it into your own e-mail, and sign it with your own real name and congregation. Send it to the "Renewing Worship" committee at Renewingworship@elca.org You may also wish to "cc" Presiding "Bishop" Hanson at bishop@elca.org There may be others, such as your synodical bishop, you may wiish to "cc".

Do it ASAP!!!!

You will get a form letter-like reply that you will not like. And you may not like the idea of promoting "RW" under any circumstances--I sure don't! However, as with most Freeps, the idea is to fill these people's e-mail boxes with as many of these messages as possible, to demonstrate the breadth of opposition to "ELW" and to its feminazi, anti-Trinitarian contents.

Here is the message for your e-mails:

To: the Renewing Worship Team of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and Augsburg Fortress Publishers.

We, the undersigned concerned pastors, musicians, and lay leaders of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, in order that we may in good conscience promote the new hymnal Evangelical Lutheran Worship in our congregations, ask the following of the ELCA Renewing Worship Team and Augsburg Fortress Publishers:

1. to refrain from altering the Psalter (e.g.., changing from the third person to the second person when referring to God in order to avoid the masculine pronoun "he)." We desire that the Psalter in the Lutheran Book of Worship be retained in this new book.

2. not to delete the address "O Lord, Holy Father, almighty and ever-living God" from the ancient Eucharistic proper prefaces.

3. to remove options which allow for blessing (with the exception of the Aaronic blessing before the dismissal at the conclusion of the Eucharist), absolving, etc. in any name except that of "The Father. Son, and Holy Spirit."

If these simple and modest requests are met, we will gladly promote this new Evangelical Lutheran Worship book in our churches. If not, we will refrain from promoting this new book and urge others to do the same.

Sincerely,

(Your real name, and congregation)

2. Here is the hard thing to do, but very, very important:

Please do everything you can to see that your congregation does NOT order "Evangelical Lutheran Worship", or use ANY materials from it. Speak with your pastor, church council, organist and worship committee--whoever is in charge of this. If your council or pastor has already decided to order or use "ELW", ask for a reconsideration. It is central to the Christian faith that we worship in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and accept no other subsitutes!!!! The feminazi, bogus, and heretical "ELW" goes against all of this.

We can win! If sufficient numbers of congregations don't order "ELW" or its associated electronic materials, it will bankrupt Augsburg-Fortress, and the ELCA mis-leaders will have to listen to us!!!

Jefferts-Schori is a heretic, a feminazi, and a total disaster, even BEFORE she takes office!!!! She perhaps deserves some sort of award for being such a disaster even before she takes office, thus beating out Hanson, Griswald, "Selfish Gene" Robinson, etc.--a BOOBY PRIZE, of course!!!!

What a lot of people don't realize is that she is also a vocal supporter of the "New UN" "Millennium Goals", and has equated them with bringing in the Kingdom of God. Thus, along with clinton, Soros, and former "bishop" Swing of California, Jefferts-Schori is a New World Order operative as well!!!!

Lord have mercy, Lord have merch, Lord have mercy!!!!

It has not been a good week for ELCA Full Communion partners. The Presbyterians "Mother/Daughter/Womb" "Rock/Redeemer/Friend" is no better. Once again Luther's explanation of "Thy Kingdom Come" to Peter, the barber of Wittenberg seems most fitting:

Dear Lord God and Father, convert and control. Convert those who are still to become children and members of your kingdom, that together we may serve you in your kingdom in the right faith and true love and pass from this kingdom begun here to your everlasting kingdom. Control those who would not withdraw their might and means from disturbing your kingdom. May they be dethroned and in humiliation stop molesting your kingdom.
