my most heartfelt sympathies to you, Focault....I am so, so sorry. peace to you.
Her neighbors are very much broken up. Each one of them tell me how much they cared for her and how much she loved her garden.
One of my cousins, a payload manager for Lockheed-Martin Space Aeronautics flew into NJ from Colorado, on less than 12 hours notice. Another cousin, who has never been seen at a funeral, made a miraculous surprise appearance. Another, a Jersey City Detective, who had torn his rotator cup only a few days ago, showed up with his entire family. A nephew, in excruciating back pain, made a forty mile trip.
My Godmother, my Mom's childhood friend, spent the afternoon sitting quietly by herself. She was reminiscing...she told me she was going back in time with my mother...remembering their life together. You could see that she was actually visualizing periods of time..there were small snippets of smiles...some moments of laughter...and also periods grief...tho I suspect it was not so much for my Mom, as it was for the moments of remembered shared tragedies they shared.
Tomorrow is the funeral.
Please Note: I'm going on at some length with this for a reason. Mom's casket is half open. The top of the lower half contains a memory drawer. (which I never knew existed) It's purpose is to store several items which you think you would like to be interred with the deceased.
Part or all of this post is will go with my Mom.
I salute you Free Republic!
Now, my Mother will do the same for us in Heaven.
One last prayer ping to this thread, everyone. Focault and his sisters are laying their dear Mom to rest tomorrow.
Please continue to pray for them all. He's put up a wonderful post in #82.
Thank you everyone. FP...well. You know how I feel. You're a dear friend.
I am sorry for your loss...and send up prayers for you and your family in your grief...
God Bless you all.

It is obvious to me that she was well-loved and that says a whole lot. May God be with you and comfort you and your family and loved ones and may you mother behold the face of God.
"Memory Drawer"...what a beautiful idea! So happy for all of you that such a wonderful celebration of your Mother's life is occurring. I know it is something that you will cherish forever. We are blessed with beautiful memories of my Daddy's funeral as well. Nothing takes away the grief of the loss, of course, but caring expressions of love, respect, and friendship certainly help to ease the grieving.
May God continue to bless each of you as you mourn the loss of this obviously beloved person that you were fortunate to have for Mother.
Dear Focault's Pendulum, I'm terribly sorry for the lost of your mom. I will pray that she rests peacefully with our Lord.
My sincere condolences to you and your family. Prayers for all who loved her.
