The Church of the Holy Spirit in Ashburn, Va., has become the second congregation to leave the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia over disagreements on biblical authority, church discipline and homosexual clergy. Meeting after their Sunday morning worship service, adult members of the church voted 88-0 to leave the 90,000-member diocese, the country's largest, and affiliate with the Anglican Diocese of Ruwenzori in Uganda.

Sionnsar, somebody told me V. Gene Robinson's full name was actually Victoria Eugenia. That his parents wanted a daughter. Is that actually true?

If so, no wonder the poor guy is so messed up. (And what a horrible mid-Victorian name even to give a GIRL! I had a great grandmother named Eugenia Anne . . . but she was born in 1850!) Too bad he has to channel his feelings into destroying an entire denomination.

I'm always amazed that the press treats homosexuality as the reason folks leave ECUSA.

The fact is, the ECUSA's love-affair with the rainbow crowd is only a symptom of the apostasy they are hoping to mainstream.

They've given many other reasons to leave as well, but they just aren't as "sexy" and would bore the average reader of a newspaper.

Lord, his parents must have been weird.

I don't buy the story of figuring he would die anyway, why would parents fearful that their son might die just give him a girl's name? They'd have to put it on the gravestone, and I don't see that happening. Plus supposing he did live, what then?

Since I don't believe in a "gay gene" -- other than the Bish of course -- I can't help thinking that his parents contributed to his orientation. Starting with his awful name.
