Prophetic Signs that we are in the End Times

The Bible gives many examples of signs that should warn us of the coming end of the age. Six such signs are given by Jesus, two characteristics are given by Paul, and eleven other occurrences are given by the prophets to occur prior to or soon after the end of the age. While we are also told we will not know the time of the End, God obviously wanted us to know when that time was getting closer. As the Christian church is increasingly drawn into the interfaith movement, and as more and more churches go into isolation, preparing to sleep through the growing attacks on their faith, perhaps God knew it would take a few signs to wake us up and remind us that we have work to do.

Unfortunately, many Christians take the verses that tell us we won't know the time of His coming to mean they should ignore any and all scripture that might warn us of this time of tribulation. Others have fallen into the trap of fearing being labeled a "conspiracy theorist" should they display an interest in the Biblical prophecies about our future on Earth. My philosophy is simple. God included it in the Bible and, since God is all knowing, we should trust that it is something we should know and study along with the rest of His Word.

It is increasingly obvious that the time of our Lord's coming is drawing near. Prophecy is being fulfilled daily, and at a faster pace than ever before. Whether you believe in a pre-tribulation rapture, or believe Christians will be witness to the full tribulation, wrath, and final judgments, matters not. The beginning of birth pains and the signs of the times should have the same effect on all of us. It should motivate us to save as many souls as we can in the time that we have left. The Great Commission tells us to be disciples to all nations, bringing the message of salvation through Christ to all people. If the Church is raptured before the tribulation, it is important that we leave behind an explanation for the trials and judgments those left behind will face. How else will they recognize the deception of the anti-Christ and seek instead the truth of the Bible? If we are to endure the tribulation along side them, we will need to be prepared to not only share the message of salvation, but share with them the reasons for God's judgment and hold it up as further proof of their need to be saved.

Below is a study of the prophetic signs God gave us as a warning of the approaching end of the age. Many of them are being fulfilled now and many will be fulfilled in the near future. I would encourage you to study prophecy, know what is coming and be prepared to share it with others.

SIX SIGNS GIVEN BY JESUS TO INDICATE HIS COMING AND THE END OF THE AGE

In Matthew24:3 Jesus was asked, "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming, and of the end of the age?" Jesus told his apostles to look for the following signs prior to his second coming and the end of the age.

1. FALSE PROPHETS AND CHRISTS

Matthew 24:5 "For many will come in my name, saying, I am Christ, and will mislead many."

Matthew 24:11 "And many false prophets will arise, and will mislead many."

In the last several years many have claimed to be the Messiah. Jim Jones and David Koresh are examples of these false christs as well as countless others who are not as newsworthy. These false prophets are a prelude to the ultimate false christ, the antichrist. Many New Age groups, some even NGO's working for the United Nations, are anxiously awaiting the antichrist, preparing the way for his acceptance as the head of the hierarchy of gods and the one who will usher in world peace.

2. WARS

Matthew 24:6 "And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end."

Rumors of wars in all areas of the world now occur frequently thanks to instant media coverage and the availability of a multitude of 24-hour news sources.

Matthew 24:7 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes."

More people have been killed in warfare in this century than at any other time in history. As the death toll rises in the Middle East, more and more countries work feverishly to develop devastating weapons of mass destruction. Add to that the expanding threat of terrorism and unpredictable dictators such as Saddam Hussein, and the potential for the outbreak of war exists in nations, kingdoms and places across the globe.

3. FAMINES

Matthew 24:7 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes."

As white, Christian farmers are driven out of Africa in increasing numbers, and foreigners move in to replace life-sustaining crops with poppies that now supply 25% of the worlds drugs, famine spreads across the African continent. The undernourished are not limited to Africa, however. A large portion of the worlds 5 billion people suffers from a shortage of food.

4. EARTHQUAKES

Matthew 24:7 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes."

The number and intensity of earthquakes this century is at a level higher than any other time in history. A staggering number of seismic events occur around the world daily. The earthquake seismic monitor IRIS shows all major earthquakes for the last year. Indicated by yellow and red circles, the seismic events of the last 15 days provides strong evidence of the fulfillment of Matthew 24:7 in our day. By contrast, in the years from 1890 to 1900 there was only one major earthquake in the world.

5. TRIBULATIONS

Matthew 24:8-9 "But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations on account of my name."

Christians are under attack throughout the world today. In the United States Christians still enjoy freedom to worship God without suffering much more than ridicule, hatred, or discrimination at work and school. However in many other countries such as China, Sudan, Africa, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Russia, and many Muslim nations, Christian suffer much greater persecution and often times death for their faith. During the tribulation this suffering will be worldwide and will continue even to the point of martyrdom. These first 5 signs will increase in intensity and severity as the tribulation approaches, much like the birth pangs or contractions of a pregnant woman worsen as the delivery time approaches.

6. THE GOSPEL WILL BE PREACHED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD

Matthew 24:14 "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come."

This prophecy has already been fulfilled through television, radio, missionaries, the translation of the Bible into many languages, and the internet. People all over the world now hear the message of Christ from missionaries who have the means to travel the globe, and via technology that allows us to communicate with people on the other side of the world right from our own homes, churches and offices.

TWO CHARACTERISTICS OF THE END OF THE AGE FROM THE APOSTLE PAUL

1. GODLESSNESS IN THE LAST DAYS

II Timothy 3:1-5,7 "But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of god; holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth."

For anyone who has watched television, read a newspaper, lost a retirement to corporate greed and corruption, or just walked outside their front door, it is obvious this prophecy has been fulfilled by our generation. Our leaders are often corrupt; our cities are filled with crime, brutality, and neon signs proclaiming our sinful, godless nature. The New Age Movement brings in increasing numbers of mystics who claim to be the enlightened ones. They are some of the most educated and influential people in our societies, and yet the most lacking in real truth.

2. APOSTASY (FALLING AWAY FROM THE FAITH)

I Timothy 4:1-3 "But the spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons. By means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth."

Churches today are becoming more and more ecumenical, embracing the New Age interfaith agenda, and denying Christ as the only way to salvation. Giving in to the politically correct media and a corrupt society, they have embrace homosexuality as an acceptable alternate lifestyle and preach tolerance and compromise in place of God's truth for the salvation of the world. The environmentalist movement within the New Age movement lures them into a worship of mother earth, belief in past lives, reincarnation, and Karma while demonizing all those who would eat the meat God gave us as nourishment for our bodies.

ELEVEN FULFILLMENTS OF BIBLE PROPHECY REQUIRED FOR THE END OF THE AGE

1. EXISTENCE OF A 200,000,000 MAN ARMY IN THE EAST

Revelation 9:16 "And the number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them."

An army of that size had never existed until China's army reached that number in the 1960's.

2. REDEVELOPMENT OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE (EUROPEAN COMMUNITY)

Daniel 2:32-33 "The head of the statue was made of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay."

Daniel 2:40-43 "Then there will be a fourth kingdom as strong as iron; inasmuch as iron crushes and shatters all things, so like iron that breaks in pieces, it will crush and break all these in pieces. And in that you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter's clay and partly of iron, it will be a divided kingdom; but it will have the toughness of iron, and partly of pottery, so some of the kingdom will be strong and part of it will be brittle. And in that you saw the iron mixed with clay, they will combine with one another in the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, even as iron does not combine with pottery."

The fourth kingdom of iron is the Roman empire according to Daniel's interpretation of King Nebuchadnezzar's dream. The two legs are the division of the Roman empire into an eastern portion called the Byzantine empire which ended in the 1400's and a western portion based in Rome which ended in the 400's. The nations of Europe since the Roman empire dissolved have never adhered or formed one empire but continue as separate nations, however, the European Union now has 15 Member States and is preparing for the accession of 13 eastern and southern European countries.

3. RETURN OF THE ONE PURE LANGUAGE, HEBREW, TO ISRAEL

Zephaniah 3:9 "For then I will return to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve him with one consent."

Prior to the restoration of Israel in 1948, Hebrew was a dead language. Now Hebrew is spoken throughout Israel.

4. REBUILDING OF THE TEMPLE, RESTORATION OF TEMPLE WORSHIP AND ANIMAL SACRIFICES IN JERUSALEM

For several end time prophecies to be fulfilled, the temple will have to be rebuilt.

Revelation 11:2 "Leave out the court which is outside the temple and do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations; and they will tread under foot the oly city for forty-two months."

Daniel 9:27 "And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolation, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate."

Daniel 9:26 "Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary."

Some archeologists believe that the temple mount is actually 340 feet south of the Dome of the Rock site, putting the Dome of the Rock within the Court of the Gentiles. This may be the court outside the temple that is left out.

There are many groups already working on preparations for the new temple. The blueprints are already done, the temple garments have been made, and there have already been attempts to lay the cornerstone of the temple. The only thing standing in the way of the construction of the new temple is Islam's third holiest site, the Dome of the Rock and government support for such an undertaking. Some possible scenarios for the rebuilding of the temple are as follows:

1. The persuasion and performing of miracles by the Antichrist and False Prophet convinces the Islamic world to approve the rebuilding.

2. The United Nations will negotiate the rebuilding of the temple following a war with the armies from the North (Russia and Islamic forces). This assumes that the war with the armies from the North is not the battle of Armageddon as some feel and that this attack occurs before the rapture or tribulation period begins. The supernatural destruction of the Russian army and Islamic forces will cause an outpouring of Christian worship and zeal amongst the Jewish people who will reconstruct the temple.

3. It is determined that the site of the first two temples is actually south of the Dome of the Rock, and the court of the gentiles (Dome of the Rock) will be left out of the 3rd temple.

A group in Israel called the Temple Mount Faithful have obtained most of the clothing, instruments and other equipment required for temple worship and are actively preparing for the laying of the third temple's cornerstone.

5. APPEARANCE OF THE RED HEIFER AFTER 2000 YEARS

Numbers 19:2-7 "This is the statute of the law which the Lord has commanded, saying, "Speak to the sons of Israel that they bring you an unblemished red heifer in which is no defect and on which a yoke has never been placed. "You shall give it to Eleazar the priest, and it shall be brought outside the camp and be slaughtered in his presence. Next Eleazar the priest shall take some of its blood with his finger and sprinkle some of its blood toward the front of the tent of meeting seven times. "Then the heifer shall be burned in his sight; its hide and its flesh and its blood, with its refuse, shall be burned. "The priest shall then wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward come into the camp, but the priest shall be unclean until evening."

A red heifer will be required to be used in the process of purification described in the book of Numbers. In May 1997 the first Red Heifer was born in 2000 years. Another red Heifer was born in Israel in March of 2002.

6. INCREASE IN KNOWLEDGE AND TRAVEL

Daniel 12:4 "But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase."

Billy Graham was quoted as saying, "ninety percent of all the engineers and scientists who have ever lived are alive today." Air travel, space travel, DNA research and human cloning are all examples of the rapid increase in knowledge in our generation.

7. RETURN OF THE ETHIOPIAN JEWS TO ISRAEL

Zephaniah 3:10-11 "From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia My worshipers, My dispersed ones, will bring My offerings. In that day you will feel no shame because of all your deeds by which you have rebelled against Me; For then I will remove from your midst your proud, exulting ones, and you will never again be haughty on My holy mountain."

In 1984, Operation Moses saw the airlift of 15,000 Jews who had already fled to refugee camps in Sudan to escape starvation. In 1991, Operation Solomon flew 20,000 Jews to Israel from Ethiopia itself. A further airlift began in June of 1999, aimed at transporting the last 3,000 members of the Quara Jewish community from northeastern Ethiopia to Israel.

8. THE RISE OF RUSSIA

Ezekiel 38:2,4,8 "Son of man, set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him. I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them splendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them wielding swords. After many days you will be summoned; in the latter years you will come into the land that is restored from the sword, whose inhabitants have been gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel which had been a continual waste; but its people were brought out from the nations, and they are living securely, all of them."

In order for some end time events to occur Russia will have to be a strong nation with a strong military.

9. RETURN OF RUSSIAN JEWS TO ISRAEL

Jeremiah 23:7-8 "Therefore behold, the days are coming declares the Lord, when they will no longer say, as the Lord lives, who brought up the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt, but as the Lord lives, who brought up and led back the descendants of the household of Israel from the north land and from all the countries where I have driven them. Then they will live on their own soil."

In the 1970's and 1980's there was a mass exodus of Russian Jews out of Communist Russia. In 1999 the Associated Press reported a dramatic increase in the number of Jewish immigrants from Russia, bringing the largest number of Russian Jews to Israel since the early 1990's.

10. TECHNOLOGY FOR THE MARK OF THE BEAST

Revelation 13:16-17 "And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name."

On May 10, three members of a family in Florida became the first people to receive the biochip implant. Each device, made of silicon and called a VeriChip, is a small radio transmitter about the size of a piece of rice that is injected under a person's skin. It transmits a unique personal ID number whenever it is within a few feet of a special receiver unit. VeriChip's maker describes it as "a miniaturized, implantable, radio frequency identification device (RFID) that can be used in a variety of security, emergency and healthcare applications."

Is the biochip the mark of the beast to be used by the antichrist? We can't really know. What is significant is that people are being softened to the idea of a mark or an implant as a means of maintaining security, providing medical information, and regulating a more interdependent world. As attitudes change, fears subside, and people are convinced of the need for such a mark, the true mark of the beast will be easily introduced to the world by the antichrist.

11. PLANS FOR THE ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT

The United Nations, World Trade Organization, International Criminal Court, UN peacekeeping/police force, numerous UN NGO's, and other agencies are preliminary steps to the formation of a one world government. We now have the communications technology, transportation, and the pro-globalization media necessary to usher in the one world government headed by the antichrist. The increasing terrorist threat and the middle east conflict will only speed up the formation of this governing body as fear and promises of better security make more people willing to give up their national sovereignty for global governance.

12. INSTANT COMMUNICATION AROUND THE WORLD

Revelation 11:3, 7-10 "And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophecy for twelve hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth. When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them and kill them. And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which mystically is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. Those from the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations will look at their dead bodies for three and a half days, and will not permit their dead bodies to be laid in a tomb. And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and celebrate; and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth."

Television and the 24-hour news networks make it possible for people around the world to see the dead prophets and rejoice at their deaths.

Luke 21:28 "But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."

Luke 21:32 "Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take place."

Mother has been plagued with a fierce itch that has caused her to claw sores in her skin. It's been hard to find a good med. Finally a cortizone seems to be working most of the time. But it makes her crazier.

The MD warned dad it would make her crazy. I asked dad how you could tell a med had made a crazy person crazy. Sadly, it was obvious. She insisted periodically about every 90 seconds to "Get Bonnie!" "Where's Bonnie?" etc. A 10 year younger adopted sister of mine who committed suicide about 4 years ago. Never a dull moment, it seems! So, win some, lose some. God's grace is promised to be sufficient--whether it always feels like it at the time, or not.

I don't care THAT much how much a given individual agrees or disagree. I mostly want to expose people to grounds for faith; to encouragements to draw closer to God; to provoke unto love and good works etc. That I do poorly but I do what I can do.

I know that many things that have been repeatedly proven in my life remain mystifying to heresay to even perceived as demonic in others' lives. It's always been so. Many prophetic types and 'operating-in-Acts/Corinthians-gifts-of-The-Spirit' types nowadays were fiercely hostile to such in years past--until God hit them over the head with HIS REALITY somewhat akin to Paul on the Damascus road.

I realize that God has His own timing and priorities for such things in each life. I just feel His press to offer some parts of the puzzle now and then for Holy Spirit to at least have those puzzle pieces as grist for the mill in the lives exposed to same. The results are His business.

I know exactly what you're talking about, Quix. I'm in the almost exact situation here with Dad. I'm the only one here for Dad.

Family comes first and when Mom passes away the family tends to fall apart. She needs you very, very much and you are there for her. God bless you!

Mercifully, Dad--82 year old step dad does the lion's share of care for her. She would like to have him in her lap or she in his given her growing insecurities. And by God's grace, he has sufficient love and patience for her most of the time. But he needs spared off and on and I'm there for that. But her Alzheimer's leaves her insecure and frightened enough that she needs him at her elbow increasingly and a lot as a minimum.

Thankfully, they have truly loved each other for 52 years. Amazingly.

YES, the 911/WTC thing was found in the Codes. That was shortly after it happened, as I recall. The art and science was much more embryonic then than it is now. I don't know if those codes would be considered beyond chance now, or not. I THINK it was a fairly lengthy and robust code. I think there were several codes in a cluster. But I don't really accurately remember. You can look it up at the BCD site. It's on there or was.

MAKING HISTORY

Just after lighting seven Hanukkah candles last evening, I received a phone call from Los Angeles informing me that the History Channel will debut the program COUNTDOWN TO ARMAGEDDON in North America the day after Christmas. I was interviewed last June for the two hour special, which will also be rebroadcast several times during the last week of this year, and again in 2005.

The program's visiting American producer told me he was quite impressed by the "fantastic backdrop" my central Jerusalem apartment rooftop provided for the television interview, which we conducted last June. After all, I was giving my take on the "end-time apocalypse" in front of the historic Temple Mount and the Mount of Olives, where several biblical prophets said world history will climax with the return of Israel's anointed Messiah.

The program will air at 8:00 PM on the east and west coasts, 7:00 Central and 6:00 Mountain, on Sunday evening, December 26th. It will be rebroadcast at midnight on both coasts, which is 11:00 PM central and 10:00 in the Rocky Mountain states. The holiday special will be screened again during prime time on Thursday night, December 30th, at 9:00 PM on both coasts, 8:00 Central and 7:00 MST. It will later be broadcast on the various international History Channel outlets (including here in Israel), so keep an eye out for that if you live outside of North America.

I have no idea what the final version of Countdown to Armageddon will look like, but suspect it will at least be an interesting show. The History Channel website promo describes it in a rather sensational fashion. After mentioning "asteroids, super volcanoes, global warming and killer viruses," it goes on to ask if these "potential catastrophes" are just "natural disasters" or "terrifying prophecies from the Bible that are at last coming true?" I did not speak on camera about the changing climate or other disturbing natural phenomena (like we don't have enough problems already?) but about the fact that the prophesied return of the dispersed Jewish people to their ancient Promised Land is occurring every day, as I've reported for over two decades from Jerusalem.

END OF DAYS

The producer told me that he had become aware of my interest in biblical prophecy via my apocalyptic novel, THE END OF DAYS. This was a blessing to hear in that the book has had a rather bumpy historical ride. As some of you already know, it was first published in 1995 by Baker Books/Fleming Revell under a different title, THE END OF THE AGE.

However, that identical title appeared later the same year on a book written by a well known American television personality who had earlier also run for president. Naturally, his great fame meant that my novel—which had been doubling in sales every month—was literally shelved by many retail outlets. Although it was brought out again the following year under its current revised title, the perfect moment had apparently passed. It has sold well in the years since then, but it probably would have done even better if its initial success had not been suddenly interrupted.

When the identical title appeared on the market (containing very similar content to boot), I was urged by legal counsel to pursue a court case against the second publisher, which I was assured I would win hands down. However, I decided that such a course of action would bring public shame to the name of the King of Kings whom both I and the other author served.

Minutes after entering my Jerusalem apartment in 2002 after a speaking tour abroad, I received a telephone call from the head of 21st Century Press in America. He wanted me to bring out a fresh edition of the novel, which was published later that same year. That in turn led to the History Channel interview, and I hope as well to many more people becoming aware of my book.

Although THE END OF DAYS has generated some controversy (especially over my "novel" approach concerning the identity of the "two witnesses" of Revelation 11), I trust it has and will also alert many readers to the fact that current world events, especially here in the turbulent Middle East, are unfolding exactly as the ancient Jewish prophets foretold they would during the "last days" of human history.

Speaking of that, I will mark the pending History Channel interview, and the rapidly approaching halfway point of the first decade of the third millennium, by sending you a summary of my current thinking on the biblical end times, and how contemporary world events may be lining up in fulfillment of ancient prophecy. Although this is not the usual thing that I do via this Israel Update e mail service, I hope you will benefit from it. MORE GLEANINGS FROM MY MAILBOX CLEANING . . . I suspect the links/addy's are out of date. I don't know what the current status of such prayer efforts are. There have been waves of requests related to the Election and the President's safety as well as against terrorism.

I personally feel that the looming judgment stuff is still very looming and a lot closer. I don't think even the better churches have done well enough at prayer and in leading in prayer and repentance. Maybe a few of the best have done their part but I'd guess very few. Certainly the nation is not in the throws of a revival beginning with repentance etc. And the unity amongst authentic believers is sadly too well displayed in the blood on this thread. But this document has the flavor of a GOD EVENT that I love so much--when God cuts right across all the human sensibilities and does things HIS WAY.

I certainly think the quake and terror threats are still looming. I don't have a sense about the volcano threats but I'm convinced they've not lessened. I think this doc is at least worth prayerful reflection.

There have been several prophecies (these are on the web site) warning of the possible devastation on the U.S. West coast before November 1, 1999 unless there is "sufficient repentance."

I have been posting regularly about the move to repentance in my own home church. Now, here is an update from the N.W. U.S.A. and the repentance and revival there. It appears that God is allowing additional time for repentance - PTL (justlike he did with Ninevah)

From another Prophetic ministry I recieved the following: (Excerpt): We believe the Lord has shown us that this judgment of war will not come to America in 1999. We have received additional dreams, input from other prophetic ministries and a confirming witness in our own hearts that God is giving more time for repentance and preparation.

However, consider these remarks by another individual:

We've been praying for the Lord to withhold judgement from the West Coast. But many feel that we are past the Lord's forbearance. The latest information on fetal tissue pricing and partial birth abortion is so appalling that this nation can no longer expect God's mercy.

Where are the bold pastors, Vince? I am a new Christian looking for a single voice to ring out across this land with God's holy indignation.

All I can do is keep admonishing the brethren to speak to unsaved friends, for surely the time of His reappearing MUST be soon.

Where are the bold pastors? What about abortion, fetel tissue research, the spilling of innocent blood and our inexorable move against Israel (Gen 12:3 curse). We are still on borrowed (or rather grace) time. Make the most of it and continue to work for the kingdom while it is still day, for the night is fast coming when no man may work.

Humanly speaking, there was no connection between the recent "conditional" earthquake warning (by November 1) on the West Coast and the revival going on there, but there is no doubt a spiritual connection.

The earthquake was either delayed or averted. As the day approched, missionary Timothy Snodgrass in the Philippines, who had issued the warning after an angel encounter on September 20, said that the Washington/Oregon area was in the most danger. With very odd timing, the front page of the October 29-31 issue of USA Today warned of newly discovered "intraslab" major earthquake possibilities in the Northwest!

In view of all the above, it is probably no coincidence that the Northwest is where revival has recently broken out so powerfully.

For example, below is a message I received today. Let us rejoice and also join brother Gaffney in continued prayer:

Dear Jim

Let me tell you about the miracle of last Tuesday. the 26th of October. I asked you to pray for an open window in Washington. I want to thank you for what you have done. There were no advertisments in the newspaper, radio or television. There was only the miracle of answered prayer.

If you will remember, it started with the children. Some as young as 6 years old saw a vision of hell, and started crying out to Jesus to save the lost. Night after night hundreds came to watch the children be touched by God. Then it hit the adults. Now, hundreds are coming every night to see what the Lord is doing in Washington. Over 1,000 came last Tuesday, and the backup on the highway was about a mile long. This is a miracle for Washington! What did they come for? How did they know to come? Why did they come? I am sure the people who write books will figure it out.

This is what I know so far.

The first miracle was the unity among the churches. We had Mennonite, Dutch Reformed, Baptist, Brethren, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Assembly of God, Foursquare, Vineyard, Messianic Christian, Catholic, Episcopalian, Church of God, Charismatic and non- Charismatic, Pentecostal and liberal, all in one accord.

I felt like Moses when the 12 tribes came together. The tribe of Judah wanted to praise. Judah means "praise". The tribe of Levi wanted to work. Levi means "is joined" with work. The tribes of Gad and Zebulun wanted to go to war. They were men of war, fit for battle. The tribe of Benjamin wanted to seek the right hand of God Benjamin means "he who sits at the right hand of the Lord". The tribe of Issachar wanted to have a committee and study the times.

It was a blessing to see a Baptist church praise in English, right next to a Pentecostal church praising in tongues. No one was condemning one another. We all knew we were tearing down strongholds.

As the tribes came together, no one was saying one way or another was better. We were in one accord in our desire for revival in the land. They all promised to come back next Tuesday, the 2nd of Nov.

They promised to bring even more than before. They promised to break open the windows in heaven . On Friday evening, over 55 churches were represented in the services.

Now, for you on this list. I love each and every one of you. As far as I can tell, we had almost 1 million people from around the world praying for last Tuesday's meeting. There are 7 million lost souls here in the Pacific Northwest. We are so close to major break-out revival, you can feel it everywhere. I can't do it without you.

I am asking the Lord for 7 million souls to pray. We want one Christian around the world to pray for every lost and dying soul here in the Pacific Northwest.

The reason it has taken me so long to get back to you is because we have heard from churches, prayer groups and persons in most every state in the United States. Over 100 countries have checked in, saying they will pick up the banner and pray for this miracle.

This is not the time to stop, but the time to charge! This is not the time to back off, but the time to press in. Will you partner with the Lord on this attack on the enemy's last stronghold in the United States?

Christian body, hear the war cry! You can have a part of divine destiny and victory for Jesus. All you have to do is pray. I don't care if you pray a little or a lot, just pray this Tuesday.

Pray the Christian body awakes even more. Pray the Holy Spirit breathes life on the dry bones. Pray for faith and unity to stay in the body. Pray for souls to get saved. Pray as you would want others to pray for you.

We had small churches praying and we had churches, all over the world, of 10,000 and more praying. We had prayer groups praying. We had home fellowship groups praying. And we had thousands of individuals praying. We even had four people in Papua, New Guinea praying for Washington!

Brownsville, Toronto, Smithton, Korea, and Japan are just a few of the places where people were praying.

The responses to our request were overwhelming! So many people in other nations were already burdened to pray for our part of the country. There is an urgency in their prayers, as they know we desperately need a move of God - before God moves in judgment. How incredible to be praying in agreement with so many brothers and sisters, and to know NOW is God's time!

Here is my request .If you are a Christian, please, do not say you are too busy. Just whisper a prayer for Washington.

The Holy Spirit's Power

Did you ever wonder why so many churches are in trouble? Believers today argue with one another over the music, the staff, the maintenance of the building, and so on. The answer to "why" is the absence of the Holy Spirit’s power. While He is with us in our churches through the presence of born-again believers, His influence is hindered by their independent will. A church that attempts to do God’s work without receiving His supernatural power will have increasing friction. What can we hope to accomplish without the fruit of kindness and self-control? When the Spirit of God is in charge, we will see believers relating well to each other through supernatural patience, divine love, and Christlike forgiveness.

The Spirit sends His power to transform our character, enable us to live in unity with each other, and provide us with a defense system. Knowing our weaknesses, God understands just how Satan will try to tempt us. Our Lord wants to help His children. If we relinquish our frailties to God’s Spirit, then His power will be released so we can stand firm. We will be able to say no to sin, to Satan, and to temptation. The Holy Spirit also labors to produce godly actions through the gifts He has given us. There is work for us to do, and God promises His Spirit will give us all we need to accomplish it.

The key that unlocks the door to divine power is surrender. It will work for our churches as well as for our personal lives. Have you used the key lately?

I had this vision for my pastor. I feel that maybe it may touch and speak to other men and women of God, and to those who are called to minister to those who are wounded and hurting.

In this vision, I was in church. The man of God was behind his pulpit, preaching. As the man of God looked out over the congregation, he saw how healthy and content the people appeared; and he rejoiced in his spirit.

Then, the man of God looked down and saw the Lord at the bottom of the pulpit stairs. The Lord beckoned to him. Puzzled, the man of God stepped out from behind his pulpit, went down the stairs, and joined the Lord.
The Lord pointed down at the floor. The man of God glanced down at the floor. There, on the floor, was a basin of water. A towel was neatly folded next to it.

Then the Lord pointed to a woman in the congregation. "Go and wash her feet," the Lord told the man of God.

The man of God, still puzzled, obeyed the Lord. He picked up the basin of water and the towel and walked over to the woman in his congregation. Every eye in the church was focused upon the man of God. The man of God leaned over to the woman and whispered to her, "May I wash your feet?"

The woman drew back in horror and shock from the man of God, and began to refuse to allow him to wash her feet.

"The Lord told me to," the man of God said to her. "But you have to allow me to."

The woman began to weep, and wordlessly nodded her head; granting the man of God permission to wash her feet. The man of God knelt down at the woman's feet, set the towel and basin of water down to the side, and began to remove the woman's shoes.

As the man of God began to remove the woman's shoes, he recoiled in shock and horror. The woman's feet were a mangled, bloody mass of sores. The man of God gently held the woman's feet in his hands. Weeping, he looked up at the woman.

"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked the woman.

"I was afraid," she replied. "I didn't feel that you really cared."

"I care," he replied.

Still weeping, the man of God began to wash this woman's feet. As he did, the Lord drew near to the man of God and to the woman. The Lord spoke to the man of God, and said, "This is my bride. I sent you to be her servant.
Serve her well."

As the Lord spoke to the man of God, the man of God kept his head down, washing the woman's feet and weeping over her feet. "How many more are there like her, Lord?" the man of God asked.

"Very many," the Lord replied. "They will not come to you because of fear. You must go to them. I will lead you to them."

Interpretation

Within hours of having this vision, I began to get phone calls, e-mails, visits, from church people who were hurting, weeping. They were afraid to go to the man of God. They didn't think he truly cared for them. They
didn't feel they could trust him. Some spoke of leaving the church. Others spoke of coming to church and smiling, smiling, smiling on the outside, but feeling like they were dying on the inside. But they were too afraid
and embarrassed and ashamed to allow anyone to see their pain and misery.

As I prayed and sought the Lord about this vision, I felt He spoke these words to me. (I ask that any who read this, pray about it and discern within their spirit if they feel it is from the Lord or not; and to either accept it or reject it.)

"If My shepherds are to effectively minister to My children, to their hurts and wounds, they cannot do so solely from the safety and distance of a pulpit. I am their example. I came down. I came down from heaven. I came
down and removed My kingly robes garments, and took upon Myself the garments of a servant. I came down to your level, to where you are at. I knelt down before you, at your feet. Even when my efforts were resisted, I
gently reached out and ministered to you anyway.

"Just as not everyone I ministered to responded with love and acceptance, so will it be with you at times. It was immediately after being ministered to that Judas went out and betrayed Me. Your efforts at ministering to others will not always be met with success. But I have called you to minister. I have called you to serve. You are My servants, to be the servants to My hurting children. You cannot touch people from a distance. As you minister to them, you also will get the blood from their wounds
upon you. It is draining to serve others.

"There are times when you may become weary in your mind and in your heart. Their wounds will become your wounds. As you minister to others, I will give unto you someone to minister in return unto you. As you strengthen others, and encourage and comfort others, even so will I supply the same strength and encouragement and comfort to you.

"Do not be fearful to get down where the hurting people are, and minister to them where they are at, as well as from behind the pulpit or in the safety of your congregation.

"Go to My wounded and hurting children. Go to them, and wash their feet !!"

I'd offer that it is the church's loss of focus, the abandonment of the accurate exposition of Scripture.

his leadership has hurt, rather than helped Dallas Seminary. Since he took over as President there, he has allowed "progressive dispensationalism" to take root. This is something which would have been anathema to its conservative founders (Lewis Sperry Chafer, A.C. Gaebelein, et. al.).

Around the early 1900s Princeton University went through a similar change, going from a good Christian college to accepting more and more Neo-Orthodoxy (Protestant liberalism). This was accomplished by the influences of the "open-minded" professor, Wodrow Wilson. We see the eventual corrosive results at Princeton today.

Boronda and D. Edmund Joaquin have been conducting their dialogue with the pentecostals over important doctrine in a temperate, reasoned manner. They have been examples of exactly what to do and how to do it.

With regard to music which Stanley mentions in the above, this is no longer a "two-way street. " "Contemporary Christian" has virtually replaced the singing of beloved hymns by congregations. Reverence, piety, and communal praise has given way to more "soulish" tunes with vapid lyrics. Furthermore, this was all ushed in during the past fifty years when pastors argued "be loving" for "be tolerant" and "accepting."

Stanley is an excellent example of a speaker with very polished homiletics and mushy heremeutics.

I think you are thinking of Chuck Swindoll, not Charles Stanley. Swindoll used to be the president of Dallas Theological Seminary.
