Yeah, I think people should realise that Lutherans don't worship Luther. He said alot of stuff that was just examples of him being a sinning human like all of us. But God worked through him in other ways. And gave us a lot.

Thank you for posting....I was reading this thread for education, and I found a lot of hostility to protestants, Lutheran's specifically....yuk.

Well, as a new Christian, this thread has made me sad. I don't mean to be pollyanna about this, but I think people who have been Christian for a long time might forget what it is all about? And right after Christmas?
Theological debate is great...but don't forget the bigger picture. Ok?

Since the thread we were on has been flamed so it would get moved to the back room (plus an even worse, and very vulgar, natural-woman FRmail to me from the same poster), I reply to you here.

Your #201: So that's all it takes, huh?

If you were Jewish, challenging something Jesus said in the New Testament, I would say the same thing. It is all about Scripture that actually is the Word of God, but you do not yet accept it as such. You should inquire of the Lord concerning it, that you may know for yourself and not take my word for it.

Sometimes as the still small voice bears witness, people do not recognize it for what it is. Only later do they realize that the Holy Spirit has been witnessing to them for some time, as in the following:

Luke 24:30-33
30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,

1 Kings 19:11-12
11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
Other times people say they were called many times but they would not hear.

Your #229 to the poster of the article: Well, as a new Christian, this thread has made me sad. There are people posting here who profess to be Christians but who behave like modern-day Pharisees. Unfortunate, but true. Jesus said, "By their fruits ye shall know them." When their fruit is contention and false accusation, that should be your first clue.

By the way, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon), and they are rather hostile towards me and my faith. You can see some examples of that if you follow the link in my previous post. (I am not talking about Elsie or Quester, but some of the others.)

Best wishes to a new disciple of Christ!

Thank you so much for your kind words, for a while I thought I was imaging all this. I can tell you I have NEVER experienced anything quite like it. I really thought that Vatican II had opened peoples minds... I did hear of this kind of thing with the early Christians -- they were accused of all sorts of crazy things like being cannibals.

I actually thought I would find more people like Piers-the-Ploughman who is intelligent, and articulate while putting forth his belief and does not resort to bashing.

Thanks again!

This is your second example of your FR rule breaking in your last two posts. FR has a rule against thread jumping and bringing up issues in those threads that do not belong in another thread.

In post #231 you bring up comments you don't like from a differnet thread, you even mention the link again, to bring controversy to this thread. You broke FR's rules.

Previously in post #230, you say "Since the thread we were on has been flamed so it would get moved to the back room (plus an even worse, and very vulgar, natural-woman FRmail to me from the same poster), I reply to you here."

Not only do you bring up some freepmail that may or may not exist, I don't know if this freepmail does exist, you could easily be making this up since you have just shown that you aren't above breaking FR posting rules. But you also link back to another thread to comment on another thread that you could still post to, it hasn't been pulled, it still exists on FR, but choose not to because you need to keep some appearance of holiness by not posting to the backroom. There is no good reason for you to bring your comment here when it should have been addressed on the apporpriate thread.

So, White, you've broken FR's posting rules twice, and pushed the envelope on another. What will you do? Will you realize your error and apologize and drop the hypocritical, natural behavior you've exhibited? Or will you white wash your behavior and explain it away?

Which will it be White? Will you take the honest road?

Lutherans? No. Luther...well, not exactly bashing, just pointing out the untruths that he spread about Catholicism, namely on the subjects of relics and indulgences. Please read through the thread and see what the church REALLY teaches on those subjects.

I really thought that Vatican II had opened peoples minds...

Vatican II was hijacked by a bunch of liberals. The documents themselves bear no resemblance to what the people were told.
