Rush is not an
"idol". All people have
"feet of clay". "Liberals" are rejoicing. So what? This episode will be of no consequence.
By the way: Get well soon, Rush.

"His supporters have rushed to defend their idol..." And his detractors have rushed to judgement.

BALONEY.
Nothing about this negates the fact that Rush is the one of the greatest of all Conservative pundits/thinkers.
This is a bump in the road for him, not unlike the tough times we all go through now and then.

revealed today that he is addicted to illegally-obtained prescription painkiller... BECAUSE of recurring (nearly, it appears) inoperable spinal problems which seems to cause continual pain -
- and NOT exclusively for the *pleasure* of zoning out.

His supporters have rushed to defend their idol, running around clucking about how this is really all no big deal. Well, Im sorry to say, it is a big deal, and the legions of Rush Limbaugh devotees are just going to have to deal with the pain. Its always devastating to find out your idol has feet of clay. Say it aint so, Joe! Not really. It's his audience that counts. The rest don't matter.
Who cares if liberals think it's a big deal? Arrogant, aren't they?
If I cared what liberals thought, I'd be in line for my welfare check right along with the worst of 'em!

I personally don't know anyone who ever thought Rush was "more than human." I do know that he is 100% right when he says that when the Hollywood left or some NFL star goes into these programs, he's feted like a hero and celebrated. Well, let's see how fair the media is on Rush. Will he be given a hero's treatment, like any of the dozens of Hollyweird people who have done rehab and now are just "wonderful?"

Rush is a giant. Without him there would be no Republican House, Senate or Presidency.
Harkin back to the first several years of his radio show. He was absolutely the furthest right wing broadcaster to affect the nation in a very long time. He moved this country rightward.
Nowadays he may seem tame, but he was the pioneer taking arrows for the entire movement. Do not disparage his impact.
I fear that without Rush the spineless Republicans in DC will become even more spineless.
Hope for his speedy return, and don't fool yourself into believing that you are now somehow inciteful or cool by kicking him while he is down.
To: B-Chan
Rush emphasizes that he is only an entertainer - nonetheless, he has a huge audience of politically active Conservatives that make a difference in this country. That is an achievement.
Also, his addiction started post-surgery - he didn't set out to deliberately become a "pill popper". He claims responsibility for his actions and was quite clear about that in his radio show today. I wish him the best.

It's not likely that anyone with a sixth grade education or above will take seriously a post that starts with a false assertion ... Popular radio show host Rush Limbaugh revealed today that he is addicted to illegally-obtained prescription painkillers and is entering a rehabilitation program for substance abusers. But it was a nice try at sliming ...

spend hours writing elegies in Elvish for fallen Glorfindel of Rivendell.Glorfindel was NOT of Rivendell; he was from Gondolin, founded by Turgon. He died while fighting and killing a Balrog.
The Glorfindel from Rivendell was still living at the end of the Lord of the Rings series.

Popular radio show host Rush Limbaugh revealed today that he is addicted to illegally-obtained prescription painkillers and is entering a rehabilitation program for substance abusers. He merely said he was addicted. He said nothing about the charges of them being illegally-obtained. You'd think your fact-checkers could at least get your first sentence correct.
To: B-Chan
I agree with a lot of what you said, if not in the rather callous way you said it.
Saying it at this time and place, however, is not very tactful.
But I guess that's OK, too. Rush himself is not known for his tact.
