Capture of the German U-Boat U-505

Polar Bear Attacks U.S. Submarine

Daily News story photo

A polar bear chewed on the rudder of a U.S. submarine and then attacked it after the sub surfaced in the ice pack during maneuvers between the North Pole and Alaska this spring, the U.S. Navy reported last week.

The submarine "Connecticut," a new Seawolf-class sub, had partly surfaced with its sail and rudder sticking through the ice on April 27. An officer then looked around outside with the sub's periscope and noticed it was being stalked by a polar bear.

In a series of pictures captured on the periscope's camera, the bear apparently chewed on the rudder, then batted it around. The Navy says the damage was minor.

I once expressed an interest in Submarine Service, but failed the first question:

One of my "voices" is very fond of telling me that I'm about as useful as a screen on a submarine.....

I'm gonna do something profound to help the Cubbies to the World Series!

How 'bout if I give up pancakes, sauerkraut, & blueberries to help assert my BELIEF in the CUBS?

LOL!

Online prices and promotions are for the continental U.S. only.

It hasn't been very many years that we've been able to call 800 numbers, or see TV the same time as everybody else. ABCCBSNBC used to come 1 week, 2 week and 3 week deplay on tape, and that INCLUDED ALL SPORTING EVENTS! And there are still places that won't ship "outside the United States", even when I tell them we ARE part of the United States. If I really want something I ship to a sibling or a friend and have them mail it to me.

How's your cubicle day going? Did you have a cookout today?

Traitor behind the lines? Pre-schooler Logan Rozeboom is blissfully unaware of an act of sabotage in a tug-of-war in Willmar, Minn. On the other hand, it may be that young Blake Jeffords simply likes eating rope.

The store I was in today is called Dollar General. Things there were priced at more than a dollar.

At home and in other states there are Dollar stores where everything is $1.00. Never have I ever spent just $1.00 there. LOL

Hi Sarge!!

Thanks so mcuh for the visuals from River Dance.

I watched them on TV, but I'm sure seeing them preform live on stage was fabulous.

Sounds like a wonderful time was had by all. Great after show meal and surprise too.

Take care Sarge and thanks for your service to our nation.
