As a Tennessee fan, I've known the low level of quality that is characteristic of ESPN productions. So, fellow FReepers, welcome to the ranks of the enlightened.

Down with the Egg-Sucking 'Possum Network! :P

I doubt he just folded. Some of the crew probably said that they wouldn't work with him anymore.

Think he would be interested in FR Radio?

So why doesn't the media go after real racists like Michael Eisner whose ABC network radio ad calls Irish-Catholics 'baboons'??

Exactly. By defintion (the left's definition) blacks cannot be racist. Racists like Lee, Jackson, Sharpton, Mfume and Bond get free passes every time. Their free speech is guaranteed by a compliant media axis. I'm beginning to think the left's death grip on education, the media, the bureaucracy and now, religion, cannot be overcome. We are entering a dark era.

Why on earth he felt he had to deliver social commentary on black quarterbacks is beyond me>{?The topic was 'whats wrong with McNabb?'

you are right. ESPN did stick by Rush. I also saw O'Reilley this evening and he had a black sports writer on from Philly and they both agreed that what Rush said was not correct , but they also said Rush was not a racist nor should he be fired from ESPN. CNN on the other hand looks like they did a good job of making Rush out to be Hitler.

I wish Rush would have stuck it out and fought. At the same time if what Drudge posted becomes the new attack plan on Rush, he might what to focus his attention to those *astards that are trying to slime him there.

Rush was scheduled to give the keynote speech at a sports writers' convention in Philadelphia tomorrow.

I suppose that's a no-go now.

This is really going to crush him, he obviously considered this a dream job.

i suspect that the gloves are coming off against the left

I trust that care will be taken to not tear any of the delicate lace that the right's gloves are made from.

I may get smacked down for this, but ever since Stuart Scott brought Ebonics to ESPN, I've avoided them as much as I could.

I'm speechless. Isn't this a tacit admission of guilt, whether or not he BELIEVES he erred?

He'll win no points with liberals, since they'll take it as Rush himself admitting he made a racist statement. He'll win no points with conservatives for not fighting the good fight.

There has to be more to this...pressure from the network?

"There's a chill wind blowing...."

Yes there sure is. It reminds me of the final scene on Terminator I. The gas station attendant says to Linda Hamilton. (something like) "Looks like a nasty storm a 'brewin"

In probably unrelated news, Drudge has a teaser that the LA Slimes are set to do publish their Arnold expose tommorrow.

At least he goes out knowing that the ratings went way up with him on the show. I suspect there may be another football related job in his future. If not, he can always start his own football show, or just buy a team.

Smart move, really. His comment was dumb and he should have known it would make him a target. Sports isn't his livelihood so best to cut one's losses and get the negative media frenzy short-circuited (especially with the rumored story about an alleged pain killer addiction, which if true, is no big deal - Chief Justice Rehnquist had the same problem after back surgery 20 years ago, and overcame it.)

It only proves that Rush is right about the racism of the media. IF he was black it would have been allowed.

What about the coach who made the racist comments about WHITE people?

Football was supposed to be the better of the sports. Now what do we have left? Rugby?
