I visited SMU in 1980. What I saw was a school about 99 % white. I also saw no liberals, very physically fit, clean, well mannered students. Just wondering if this is still true.

What - did they want their cookies for free?

Or one to a white male and two to blacks.
To: TomGuy
Let me get this. The cookie sale is banned because it creates a "threatening and hostile environment". It requires only on black student to complain the SMU immediately reacts. If a leftwing demonstration involves calling for the "Death of Israel, down with American imperialism" followed by the burning of the US flag. If an American claims that such language and action is threatening to him, he is told by typical college administrators that it is protected by free speech. He probably will be told by the school that judging from his reaction, he needs to immediately enroll for Sensitiviy and Diversity Training otherwise the school is forced to kick him out for complaining.

Your point is well made here on the several points you address.
Those idiots at that college who were trying to sell "ideas" in using race, by means of antiaffirmative action as a factor in charging prices, are in for a very rude awakening.
In the real world, applying price discrimination in the business world is very bad business. That's how lawsuits get started and such business like that get boycotted. Take for example the lawsuit against Denny's years ago for discriminating against blacks. It's just not even funny but just plain stupid. The idea of selling a product, such as cookies, is to network with others, to make money and not destroy the American dream by invoking political ideas that are anti-social.
To: GOP_Proud
Hell,I'd givem a cookie for a song and a dance, stereotypically speaking.

Haaaa-haa-haa.. wait a sec... I'm choking... HAAA-HAA-HAAAA...
To: singsong
So the next time I get the electric bill in the mail, I'll just call them and say, "Howsabout a little networking instead of cash?"
To: Poseidon
I wish people would insult me by offering me goods at 1/4 price. Obviously this kid has neither a sense of humor nor a sense of actual self-interest. In his shoes, I'd have bought 4 cookies.

Matt Houston, a 19-year-old sophomore, called the group's price list offensive. "My reaction was disgust because of the ignorance of some SMU students," said Houston, who is black. "They were arguing that affirmative action was solely based on race. It's not based on race. It's based on bringing a diverse community to a certain organization." Sounds like it's based on race to me...
People like this ignore the unfairness of AA because it benefits themselves. If the shoe was on the other foot they would howl like monkeys.

Just to ease your minds, we sold to 2 white females and 1 white male asked for one for free as we were leaving.

No, they were not. The cookies were bad but still much better than Affirmative Action! It's the point of the exercise. Too bad some kookiess still don't get it.
To: singsong
"It's the point of the exercise."
And what point of exercise are you referring to?
"Too bad some kookiess still don't get it."
Who are you referring to as "kookies"? And what is IT that you think they "still don't get"?
To: Tacis
Excellent points.
Forcing one individual or group to benefit another individual or group will always produce hate between the parties. And this is true whether the benefit is in treatment or money or other desired goods and services.
Forced transfer of benefits destroys incentive because it disconnects rewards from those who produced them, producing hate of the system, hate of the beneficiaries, hate of the benefactors, and eventually hatred of just about everything and everyone. And a variety of counter-incentives which I will not go into now.
Hate develops naturally and necessarily from forcing people to benefit others.
Anyone can test this out by merely forcing some person to benefit some other person, on an ongoing basis, preferably for the rest of their lives (to produce the most extreme and enduring hate for those who need extra persuasion).
And if you call our 800 number right now, we'll show you hate like you've never seen before! Proven method! Guaranteed! Used by governments everywhere! We line up producers and beneficiaries *for* you! Our method of forced equalization is ready to ensure a hate-filled world for *you*! Call now!
