An Army Islamic chaplain, who counseled al Qaeda prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, naval base, has been charged with espionage, aiding the enemy and spying, The Washington Times has learned.

Capt. James J. Yee, a 1990 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., was arrested earlier this month by the FBI in Jacksonville, Fla., as he arrived on a military charter flight from Guantanamo, according to a law-enforcement source.

"But I am not masochistic enough to go to DU and try to make this point."

I, for one, am hoping you are not masochistic enough to go to DU at all.

What that means is that Muslims cannot be trusted as loyal Americans simply because they are NOT loyal Americans. Their allegiance is not to their country.

I only hope the powers that be will come to recognize that fact. It's time to wake from the PC sleep and smell the coffee.

It's time to purge all forms of PC from the Military.

The reason I say that is because I've been to DU and traded a fair number of posts back in the day. In the end, I felt like I was interrupting someone's breakfast club, not exchanging ideas in front of a vast, well-informed audience.

You will find few things less important in the universe than the yawning chasm of irrelevance that is the Democratic Underground. And I say that will all due respect.

And do what exactly? It's all well and good to have a strong sentiment, but what's needed are useful ideas about what to do- specifically.

Also, what chaplain has access to sensitive information?

Pure wild a$$ guess on my part, but I suspect he was passing messages to and from those at Gitmo more than giving up info he had obtained elsewhere.

The numbers are surprisingly low, something like 22% of the American public will tell you that Islam is not a peaceful religion. I find this very troubling.

I would be suprised if 22% of the public could tell you who their state rep, or Congressman was.

And do what exactly?

Either disallow muslim clerics from performing such sensitive duties within the armed forces, or allow it only by special dispensation under careful scrutiny.

Ah, you're just referring to the military. I thought- considering the post you were responding to (about no Muslims being loyal Americans- that you were speaking on a broader societal basis.

The thing with the clerics though- surely a Christian chaplain wouldn't be appropriate to dispense these duties, sensitive or not. You'd either have to change the rule that says the detainees are entitled to practice their religion or supervise (as you say) the thing very closely.

When will Western "Liberals" and their dupes begin to realize that THESE PEOPLE WANT TO KILL US; THEY HAVE DECLARED WAR ON THE UNITED STATES AND ATTACKED US!??

AND... they are positioning themselves among us to conquer(kill or enslave) us from within. Isn't there an old saying that goes something like "for every cockroach you see, there are hundreds that you don't?" Common sense would say that the same holds true for people like this traitor chaplain.

I too noticed that little ray of sunshine at the end of the story. I don't expect this war to be over in my lifetime, so it's nice to think that the roaches in this motel are never going to check out!

Capt. Yee, 35, was a command chaplain for I Corps at Fort Lewis, Wash.

Fort Lewis again. Beltway sniper John Mohammed trained there, and it was in the house not far from the base that he taught John Lee Malvo to shoot a rifle.

Another jihadist with links to Fort Lewis is Semi Osman, arrested in Seattle in May 2002 for suspicion of terrorist links. According to this story, a tip from a prisoner at Guantanomo Bay figured in the Seattle investigation.

I agree... but for this class, it depends on who is teaching it and what is being taught. My assumption is that this was a PC touchy-feely class about Islam. A class on Islam taught by a Daniel Pipes type -- now that might be useful. Known thine enemy. Even if it was not a touchy feely class -- this chaplain was in there and telling all his terrorist buddies what what being taught, no doubt.

The Army may also charge him later with the more serious charge of treason, which under the Uniform Code of Military Justice could be punished by a maximum sentence of life.

This guy is now going to be a Private for the rest of his life.
