One post - big whoop. You're the one that needs to move on - to another thread.
I said all of this to you yesterday and you refused to even acknowledge I made a comment - don't get high and mighty with me.
I know what is going on here - you don't.
Get over yourself. And get off the cases of the people in the line of fire who are concerned about their families, friends, neighbors and property.
I have no use for self-righteous, smug computer jockeys who think they know better than professionals not only in the midst of things such as this but who also live in the midst of things like this. Most especially when they are several thousand miles away and have nothing to lose.

I have just as much right to hang out on this thread as anybody else, don't like my posts, don't read them.
As for whatever you might have said yesterday, sorry didn't read it.
I know what's going on here better than you. When I say "the media" you read "Gabz friends who are still in the media and according to Gabz doing a fine job", get out of your Gabz-centered world, I didn't comment on your friends. And I have accepted your declaration that the local media is doing a fine jobs without challenge.
I haven't claimed to know better than anybody. I'm simply pointing out that when it was a Cat 5 the Weather Service had already forecast that it would drop to a Cat 3 and none of the national press chose to include that particular nugget of info in their stories laden with body counts from previous hurricanes. If you see no problem with that style of reporting fine, I do, I think it sucks and they should be ashamed of themselves.
Now really, can we move on?

You people don't own the hurricane you know. Anybody can talk about it. Or in my case about the crappy national press coverage of same. Don't like it, don't read it.

From the
satellite loop page of the site you so kindly pointed out, it looks like the land is breaking up the leading edge of the storm. While it still looks bad, maybe there's hope for the people further inland to be spared the worst.

Just reported Albemarle County Schools CLOSED tomorrow in VA; Greene County VA Orange County VA closing at 10am or noon. All area schools expected closed Friday.

Did you know that Friday is Talk Like a Pirate Day?Arrr. I'm off to drop anchor in me local grog shop, and maybe check out the contents of the chumbucket. But I'll raise me mug to those who've lashed themselves to their mizzenmasts waiting for that scurvy dog of a storm.

I don't know XS -
I just have little use for people who think they are media experts, yet use the broad brush of generalities to tar all members of the media.
I'm no big defender of the media as a rule, as you well know, but I will be damned if someone with so little knowlege (practically none) of a particular situation in a particluar area will get away with bad-mouthing people who actually know what they are talking about.

I am surprized that the storm surge is not expected to be higher. A big storm can push a dome of water nearly 20 ft high on shore. I hope they are right.
