We've rebuilt that beach at Sandbridge rather nicely...but I still doubt there'll be much left if this thing hits.

Do that and you and the lizard will die.

Well, what good is it then? It also has a jumper cable for car batterys and also a pump to blow up bike tires, and kiddie pools, etc.

Why would we die? It's supposed to be used inside the home during power failures. Others have testified that use it for their computers during power failures as well. I will have to read that darn manual better, I guess.

i'm watching TWC channel now with steve lyons, projected path has indeed slid ever so slightly south for the onshore event, so just south of the VA/NC border rather then along the VA/chesepeake coast.

Which is still a LONG way from South Florida. Remember, Isabel is almost at our latitude yet it is over 500 miles EAST of the Bahamas.

If you are left, that is really the only important thing. The rest is sad but not anything like drowning or blowing away.

"We've rebuilt that beach at Sandbridge rather nicely..."

That is good to hear cause when we were their last severla houses had been in danger and two were completely destroyed!

We had a hell of a house rented but it had no beach at high tide, in fact the waves actually broke on the deck if it was a little stormy.

Somebody asked earlier if they expect the tunnels to flood if this comes ashore in the Norfolk area. I never saw an answer, but I can't imagine how they wouldn't.

That means that at some point, as the storm approaches, they will have to shut them down and re-route traffic.

No matter where it hits on the East Coast, because the ground is already satuated with the record rains this spring and summer, there will be trees knocked over everywhere. Ugh.

My folks used to have a little house there...I was living in WV during a N'oreaster and remember watching TV coverage of the storm and seeing my folks house fall off it's stilts into the surf.

You will be okay because you DON'T have a generator, you have a storage battery. You said you had a generator. If your power is off for more than two days your storage battery will run down. They are nice for one night and in emergencies but will do you little good in a long power outages. However you should be able to recharge it off of your car battery and dedicate it to nothing to keeping Mr. Lizard alive.

You know what I hate about these storms and I have been thru alot of them. The damn power outages, they last forever, and usually it gets hot. and the trees block the roads. And your yard looks like hell. We lost trees and that is horrid. But we never lost a house, had a tree fall on the house so we were lucky. I cannot imagine that. But no power for a week is wearing. You gotta look at the people you live with and talk to them for a week,,it is a challenge.

Hi there,,,those folks don't know how to cook after a hurricane so I am worried. No gumbo, no brisket, no roast beef, no jambalaya. They might starve. Maybe we ought to take some food up to them like the guys did a year or two ago in south america,,remember the big cookiing they did, was it Guatemala? Anyway, I hope they get by.

Yeah, they'll close them as this thing gets real close...that's why I say to get out early. They'll close the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel if the winds are sustained greater than 70 MPH...they closed it during Floyd and the winds never got that high here, not sustained anyway. I drove across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel in a VW Bug during a coastal storm that had waves crashing over the roadbed. By the time I got across they'd closed the thing...but I never did see water in the tunnels.
