Please answer my question: didn't Rush used to say that Zogby was the most reliable one out there? Didn't Rush once commission a poll by Zogby, turning to Zogby precisely because he trusted him more than most pollsters?

I think this was because Zogby predicted the GOP takeover of Congress, or had some similar forecast that set him apart. He also forecast a close race in 2000, when other pollsters had a significant Bush lead, at least until their final polls.

When the results aren't comforting, is that a reason to blame the messenger - - - especially when Rush used to hype him?

It sure looks as though Bush is just biding his time. And why not reserve effort for when the time is right to crush his enemies. The Dem candidates are devouring one another and saying some of the most outlandish things. The Leftists lunatic fringe is splitting into the vitriolic foam-at-the-mouthers and those Dems waking up from a hang-over and seeing the whore that they have been in bed with. The Networks are erradicating any semblance of objectivity. The lights in Hollywood are on and bloated stinking leftists roaches are running for cover or to fat & stupid to move. Hillary actual believes that she has a shot at running in 2004 and the DNC agrees (HA,HA,HA,HA,hahahahahahahahahahah!) and the Banana Republic of California is on the verge of total collapse. I'd say that we have never had a more ideal situation for Republicans.

Bush will not make the same mistake as his father. When the time is right, he will use the pulpit and all that cash and set off what will amount to a political St.Helens, clearing everything standing but himself.

Just keep stashing away those 5 and 10 spots, order your new checkbooks and get ready to send those contributions to any district where there is a Republican candidate threatened or threatening. Get your bumper, flag, and NRA stickers out. Send your membership dues in and make certain that your voter registration cards are updated. Sign up now to volunteer in your districts and talk to those neighbors of yours that are sitting on the fence. Our job this year will be as crucial as our soldiers fighting abroad. If we lose this one, those men and women are as good as dead, and this nation will be in more danger than ever before.

President, Senators, Representatives, Councilmen...all civic positions are critical; Federal, State, City, County, District, Block. If there is a seat with no Republican running in opposition, fill it.

If Zogby doesn't look stupid yet, he will by the time we are done.

It's funny that all these armchair polling experts KNOW that Zogby is a fraud, but no one has posted anything at all conclusive to prove it. Incidentally, Zogby's track record is very good.

Don't blame the messenger.

Those posts aren't very enlightening. If my memory serves, Rush used to praise Zogby as the best. It's hard to take Rush seriously now if he's suddenly now calling Zogby "Zomby," because Rush doesn't like his results.

"I think, though, that these people will still vote for Bush. "

Did you hear strains of "When You Wish Upon a Star" playing in the background when you typed that?

ZOGBY is full of shit -- this polling comapny is a FRAUD. Even Hannity said this over the air.

Didn't Rush once commission Zogby to do a poll - - because Rush said Zogby was the most accurate?

When polls don't go our way, it's always tempting to diss the messenger.

It is amazing the amount of slack you guys are willing to give GW just because he has an R next to his name. What we think of the poll results is less important then what is actually happening.
1) He has yet to use a Veto
2) Our borders are wide open
3) Our industry is disappearing
4) He is spending as though he were printiung the stuff (which he is)
5) He continues to drag us through the embarassing UN crap shoot
6) He kept Alan Greenspan
7) Allowed our Judicial nominees to rot
8) Has turned his back on the Second Amendment
9) Has given up on fighting the Education Establishment
10) Has avoided the fight over Diversity, Gay rights, religion, illegal immigration, and even abortion

Perhaps the Zogby poll is wrong; but, perhaps not. We don't even know who is running against him in 2004, much less what their platform will be. We should take the poll results as what they are a small cautionary note. Whether "fair" should be counted one way or another is less important then understanding why people are replying "fair" instead of "excellent".

Yes he did, during impeachment, but Zogby had to phrase the questions.

Just like Zogby phrases "fair" as a negative.

Let me ask you a question, if the weatherman on TV says that there will be "fair" skys, do you take your umbrella?

As I recall, Rush did praise Zogby extensively after the '94 election. And, admittedly, Zogby deserved it. I don't know about Rush commissioning a poll from him, but it's certainly possible. The question I would ask is, has Rush (or any other reputable conservative voice) praised Zogby since?

Admittedly, I don't listen to much Rush Limbaugh (*gasp!* "Judas!", they shout)... he comes on opposite Dennis Prager here in L.A.... but if you, my intrepid friend, are so bent on defending the Zogby poll, then why don't you find the exact quote and airdate where Rush supposedly made that comment. It won't change my opinion of the Zogby poll one iota if you do, but it may lower my opinion of Limbaugh.

It's not any better than anyone else, and that's the rub. His success in '94 was startling because no one had the slightest notion of what was happening, except the people following his polls.

Yet, if you were watching him in '02 and betting on his picks, you'd have lost some big bucks in the races that were tight enough to need pollsters. He picked the Senate races in SD, MN, and CO completely wrong. It's easy to pick Rockefeller in WV, but you earn your money by calling the close ones. Zogby hasn't done that in a while.

I know that this is simplistic but when talking about elections wouldn't it be logical to have 5 categories;
1. Absolutely voting for X period,
2. Leaning towards X but could change mind,
3. Leaning against X but could change mind,
4. Absolutely NOT voting for X period,
5. Who?
So what am I missing?

Two more points:

1.) Zogby greatly harmed his 'polling' credibility when he blew the 2002 elections, e.g., election day he indicated that the Florida gubenatorial election was a dead heat, yet Jeb Bush won by 13 points!!!!

2.) Fox News/Opinion Dynamics just released its most recent poll (Sept 9-10, 2003):

Overall Job Approval (registered voters)
9/09-10/03 58% approve 33% disapprove (+25)
8/12-13/03 57% approve 34% disapprove
[Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, doesn't look like the President's ratings have "tanked" to me! Actually, his ratings have remained remarkably stable AND high (at approximately 60%) despite RELENTLESS attacks by the Democrats and their media enablers!]

Job Approval relative to Terrorism
9/09-10/03 65% approve 29% disapprove (+36)
12/03-4/02 66% approve 22% disapprove

Amen to that!

Nov 4-7 02 Zogby had Thune over Johnson in SD by 52-47%. (Johnson won by a couple of hundred votes.)

In Texas Nov 3-4 he had Cornyn 50%, Kirk 46% (Cornyn won 55-43%; correct, but margin was tripled).

Nov 3-4 02 in Missouri he had Talent 50%, Carnahan 43% (Talent won 50-49%).

Nov 3-4 in MN he had Mondale over Coleman 51-45% (Coleman won 50-47%).

Nov 3-4 in GA Zogby had Cleland over Chambliss 50-46% (Chambliss won 53-46%).

Colorado, you ask? Early Nov Zogby had Strickland over Allard 51-46%, though Allard won by that exact margin.

Oh yeah, he's the king alright. :-)

58% from Fox News?? Why, that's in line with ABC's 56% and several others. You don't suppose Zogby's could be the outlier (again)? Do you?

Naaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!
