Well with the amount of money and energy the media is spending on pushing the "Bush is a liar!" theme, I'm surprised his approval rating isn't in the 20% range. This White House doesn't seem to take these things seriously enough - I guess they expect events to bail them out. But Clinton introduced the "permanent campaign" to Presidential politics, and the genie is out of the bottle - whether Bush wants to play the game or not, if he wants to get reelected, he'll have to.
To: GodfearingTexan
I make of it that we're over a year away from an election, and Bush properly (and unlike Clinton) is mostly unconcerned with his poll numbers. Come the middle of next year he'll pander left and right and the numbers will go back up, if they're not there already.
Check out the size of his campaign coffers.

The problem with Zogby is that he post the people that respond with "Fair" with those who respond with "Poor."
Most people think of "fair" as being a positive rating, but not Zogby. Hence the famous "Special Sausce"

Unfortunately I recall Zogby was the only one to predict the 2000 election. Rasmussen and a bunch of others were way off but Zogby thought it was too close to call.

I dont know about a leftist agenda, but I've heard that Zogby, who is of mid-east descent, has taken a burn to Bush over the war on terror.
To: GodfearingTexan
Respondants were given a choice of "Excellent," "Good," "Fair," or "Poor."
"Fair" and "Poor" were considered negative answers.
Since when is "Fair" a negative?

BS-- absolute BS. Zogby is an Arab Liberal who wants to scuttle Bush's re-election so a Leftist Democrat will capitulate to the terrorists and again make out with Arafat and his wife.

"Bush ... is mostly unconcerned with his poll numbers"
I'm hoping it's because he has the bodies of Saddam and Osama down in a freezer and can thaw them out for the October surprise 2004.

I hear you both. My thoughts are that this is a sound poll: likely voters, run during the week (not sure what time of day). I can tell you that Bush DOES care about his poll numbers, though. I feel that things are not "well in hand," despite the full faith I have in Karl Rove. I feel that the news on unemployment is spiraling. We need some level of relief for a lot of these out-of-work white collar men. After you stay unemployed for awhile, it starts to make you frustrated.
Reading some of these IT stories, I'm getting frustrated. I think Bush could make some money off this problem by fixing the H-1B thing and doing something about exporting jobs - on the face of it, I'm not sure what as yet. But he needs to make more noise about it, that's for sure.
The media is going to be after Bush even more if they see blood in the poll numbers. Something needs to be done, and I think we can't sit around much longer.
To: GodfearingTexan
In a valid poll, I'm curious to know if any of the disapproval voters are conservatives POed at domestic policy, but will still vote for W over a 'RAT?

I don't think people think Bush is a liar. However, people are hurting out there. Where I live (Mason County, Michigan) 29.8% of my township are on unemployment. This is no lie. Check out the stats on
http://www.michigan.gov Flint / Saginaw area are about 15%. That's the percent of people who qualify for unemployment. Double it for the number of people hurting from lack of steady work, part-time slow death, etc.
I think, though, that these people will still vote for Bush.
To: GodfearingTexan
Zogby is an ARAB who has OPPOSSED bush's war on terrorism.
I guess that explains it all.
