Yes, it does include those counties. And yes, there's a fair amount of granola in the Asheville area. But when you include the hard-shell conservative Democrats, this is a conservative District.
The Republican nominee will almost certainly become the next Congressman. The Democrat nominee, Sam Neill, -- an "edukashun" union guy -- in the last two elections, almost cannot run again. He still has $468,000 in debt as of 1 July, from his last run. The Dems will have to come up with a novice lib-Dem; otherwise they'd have to pay Sam's debts before he can begin to move forward. LOL.
As long as I don't get into a mud-slinging contest with Charlie Taylor, the Rep nominee should win the General. I won't campaign that way because I'm not stupid. Charlie won't do that because the best tactic for an incumbent is to ignore any challenger, not to give him/her a boost by even mentioning his/her name.
I've taken a very hard look at all the practical and realistic details of this campaign that are above and beyond the issues.

Thank you, my friend. I hope that all the veteran FReepers who have special ping lists, like you do, will consider it worthwhile to ping their folks to take a look at this thread and say and do what they think is right.
In response to your ping, I've changed my tagline.

It's worse than you say. I was an
advertising executive before I became a lawyer, and now I'm looking at Congress. I'm mindful of Twain's comment, "America has no native criminal class, except perhaps the Congress." LOL.

Thank you for putting up the whole Teddy Roosevelt quote. I like the entire speech, but there are space limitations in writing a column. Old TR was a danged fine writer, among his many other qualities.

Thank you, my friend.
We've both been fighting the good fight since before we met at (was it?) the first Rally on the Mall. Help as you can, especially through contacting others in Western Carolina.

Congressman Billy Bob here is a fellow you ought to know if you don't. This is a letter to the editor of the Asheville Citizen Times he sent 8/11/03.
All that outrage against Bush cuts both ways
I am writing on behalf of my new organization, "Citizens Outraged at Everything, Especially George Bush," (COEEGB)
Our whole purpose in life is to see Bush impeached. The reasons:
Bush believes in marriage between only men and women, which insults anyone who doesn't. Bush drives around in big cars and flies on airplanes, destroying the ozone whatever.
Bush had no right t o fly onto a carrier and look good doing it. Bush is rude to foreigners like Saddam and Kim Jong II when he should be helping them run their countries with government money. Bush refuses to appoint Jesse Jackson to a high-paying cabinet level job. Bush went to parties when he was in college and actually drank whiskey. Bush is not former President Bill Clinton.
Impeach Bush or I'll hold my breath until I turn blue. I must lie down now. Where are my smelling salts?

You're very welcome. It isn't the
whole quote:
Shame on the man of cultivated taste who permits refinement to develop into fastidiousness that unfits him for doing the rough work of a workaday world." ~ Theodore Roosevelt
I left it off of my own homepage in case an elite pundit or pol stops by to see the news he isn't reporting. Didn't want to scare 'em off. (^;

ROTFLMAO One short letter sums up quite nicely why the democrats hate President Bush.
Bush had no right to fly onto a carrier and look good doing it...I love it!
