Busload Arrested and Led Away from Ten Commandments
WTVM ^ | 08-20-03

Posted on 08/20/2003 7:00:21 PM PDT by Selmo

Supporters of Chief Justice Roy Moore have been handcuffed and led away from the Ten Commandments monument in Montgomery. They had refused to leave the monument after Moore lost a last-ditch appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court this afternoon. The federal judge who ordered the monument's removal is now expected to consider a contempt of court finding on Friday. That could set the stage for the monument to be removed ... or fines imposed on the state.

Scores of Moore supporters sang and prayed outside the building as about 20 inside were removed from the rotunda. It wasn't immediately known if they would be charged by Montgomery police.

Associate Justice Douglas Johnston issued a statement saying he had proposed moving the monument to a private area of the judicial building after six o'clock this evening. He said that would avert any fines while Moore pursues appeals that could take months. But he said fewer than five of the justices concurred, and his proposal was not approved.

The associate justices have indicated they may take action later.

As someone who hates Islam like I do, such sentiments by our Founding Fathers bother me.

8 Stat. 154, Treaty Series 358
Treaty signed at Tripoli November 4, 1796, and at Algiers January 3, 1797.
Senate advice and consent to ratification June 7, 1797. Ratified by the President of the United States June 10, 1797
Entered into force June 10, 1797 Proclaimed by the President of the United States June 10, 1797.

ARTICLE 11

"As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion, -- as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen,-- and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religous opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries. "

"My guess is killing the old people for being useless eaters. "

Good guess. Euthanasia in The Netherlands has led to legalized murder for Undesirable Old People. It has led to genuine fear of some elderly for even *going* to hospitals. It's seeping in here like a poison gas, via Oregan's fated law.

My heart aches for my beloved Country! I was born Free and will die Free for the principles I was shown to to be honorable and just. As a Patriot Warrior I know what is worth Living for and I certainly know what is worth dying for I have worn this Country's Uniform In the worse time America has endured. The Vietnam War did irreparable damage to this Country and destroyed the Flower Of American Youth All because of Vanity and Treason!

Jefferson was not a Christian, the subtext to his authorship of the Jefferson Bible, by the way. His Bible removed what he saw as too fantastical of occurrences as to gain his belief, or to formulate a basis for his faith.

Jefferson was a Deist.

Your cites are criticisms of Christianity.

The Constitution refers not to Christianity, but to religion, both the establishment of and the barring from prohibiting a citizen from freely exercising one's religious beliefs.

By the way when the rule of law visits your church and says that you must ordain gays or you must not preach certain scriptures from the Bible will you also uphold that law?

I reckon sinky would be first in line when they set up a Patriotic Catholic Church of the United States under such rules as this--particularly if they let old married guys become priests.

This is disgusting! I have watched the peaceniks and anarchists wreaking havoc on cities for a very long time now with no consequences, and these people are arrested and hauled off? There is something wrong with this picture.

Here's my prediction: If the monument is still standing when the sun comes up we will likely win. Why? Because the liberal media WILL focus on the story once one of their secular self-god judges is disobeyed. They will not be able to control themselves. Once national, even to libs, politicians will be forced to comment including President Bush. We will wake up to a national "crisis" and the ball will be squarely in the President's Court. The time of decision for America has come. I believe GW will come through for us. If not, America is lost.

Yes. And Jesus told His disciples to render to Him.

Jesus didn't like people putting money above everything else, especially their lives. If the people didn't pay their taxes, they'd be thrown in prison or fed to lions.
Jesus didn't agree with big oppressive government. On the contrary, he told us to be better than them. Pay the taxes, but change the hearts of the tax collectors.
Render to Ceaser was all about paying taxes rather than being killed. Life was more important.
It has nothing to do with petitioning the courts to change. That's what Jesus wanted from us. He wanted us to peacefully change the laws that were oppressive to the soul.

"Yes. And Jesus told His disciples to render to Him."

Only what he is OWED.

What did MLK owe to the segregationists who made the laws in Alabama in 1963?

What is owed to an unjust law? An incorrect decision? A government that is grabbing people's rights that really belong to the citizens?

You owe it to yourself in all cases to do what is *right*, because the dictates of man are fallible and sometimes unjust.
"I was only following orders" is no excuse.

It will go down in the history books as either the end of America or the beginning of its renaissance. The time of destiny is at hand. Drive, fly, walk, run to Montgomery. It is time to take a stand!

Destro, consider the possibility that Adams was being as polite and as dishonest as Arafat was being in the Oslo accords. That's Diplomacy! :-)

And dont forget the Barbary Pirates didnt learn their lesson anyway and Jefferson had to send in the Marines to kick serious butt. :-)

We have no problem with Islam, we have a problem when Islamicists kill, murder, rape, kidnap, and steal from our citizens, whether via pirate ships or terrorist cells.
