This makes me glad I live in Texas, where I could rapidly get some distance between myself and my neighbors.Me too...I live in the hill country. I did notify the our safety manager at the local AF base, told her to tune in to the radio, just in case. My work neighbors are a State Congressman and a State Senator, so I am always on my toes.

If the whole grid collapses, they will park a Nuclear Carrier offshore NYC and 'bump start' the grid from the ships power plant.

Since the power outage, 500,000 more illegal Mexican citizens have invaded Southern California. They are doing the following -- popping out babies in county hospitals, waiting in line at the DMV, applying for welfare benefits, and peeing on street corners as they wait for contractors with jobs. Well, I just saw a large percentage of them down at the Wal Mart. I had not been to a Wal mart in a while. I felt just like I was in a 3rd world country. No one was speaking any English. The place smelled like pee. And they all had carts piled high to the sky with every conceivable cheap product unders the sun. Hundreds of dollars worth. Something's wrong. And here I am, a fairly well off 30 something person, wrangling with whether I wanted to spend 20 bucks on a cheap bathing suit to wear to the water park this afternoon cuz I blew the butt out of my old cheap bathing suit on the water slide last month.
But, then I looked at them, without a care in the world loading up the carts and I said what the hell, it's only twenty bucks. Something's really, really wrong.
But, back to the topic at hand. Power back up?

Wheeling, WV still has power.

Interesting that Toledo is down, but Lima--just about 70 miles south--is fine according to my mom.

95 degrees in NY? Wow.....

Lansing, MI is completely out of power. The Lansing Board of Water and Light says at least 5 hours until power is restored.

I am surprised that Boston is not affected. Does it have its on system, or is tied to the blackout grid?

If only one plane had been involved on 9/11, we'd still be hearing about the horrible "accident" that happened that day. BINGO!
The main point of terrorism is publicity. The government never wants to give the terrorist the publicity that they desire. So, if they can play a terrorist attack off as an "accident" or "mishap", etc., they will.

Reporting Toledo is completely down All the commercial radio from Toledo is off the air. I'm proud to say that the Amateur Radio repeaters are still up and running (we're always ready!).
WJR Detroit is operating on generator power, apparently, as the city is out completely.

Wouldn't you want to get home before nightfall, even if no power?
To: Joe Hadenuf
I feel for the people in NY... the reason they are fleeing, is that they are unarmed, unsafe at night, in the pitch dark with a power outage. If the power stays out, the criminal underclass will rule the night. We are not that evolved.
