CALLING ALL Arnold Schwarzenegger Supporters:
I am announcing the creation of ArnoldGovernor.net . I have reserved the domain, but the site is up right now at a temporary URL which can be seen here (www.elephantparty.com). I am a Californian and a conservative - and I can say with certainty that Arnold represents the best chance we have of claiming California's governorship. I am posting this site for your review.
First, the others in the race. Bill Simon and Tom McClintock are both fine men, but they have lost important statewide races in the past. Simon lost a race against Davis last year which should have been a cakewalk given Davis' record. Most political analysts agree that Simon ran one of the worst campaigns in recent memory. McClintock is a virtual unknown statewide (let's not get fooled by our own echo chamber). The KEY to remember is that we have
Only 2 months (8 weeks) until Election Day. There is NO time to run someone who Californians have rejected in the past or a virtual unknown. For those who have leaned towards either of them, I'm appealing to your sense of reason to get behind someone with the best shot of winning. Now, why should we elect Arnold?
Arnold is a fiscal conservative but moderate otherwise. His stance on abortion will matter less than you might think- that's a matter for Supreme Court justices which the California governor has no say about. He is pro-business, pro-entrepreneurship, and tough on crime (witness his Proposition 49 which aims to reduce juvenille crime - a major, largely unaddressed component of crime). He is an "American by choice" and is very patriotic. People look at him and think "It's okay to be a Republican". With Schwarzenegger pulling a Total Recall on Grey Davis, Bush may actually find that California is friendly territory in 2004.
I am looking for pro-Arnold supporters to help:
1. Pitching Arnold's candidacy
2. Graphics design- create compelling visuals that are pro-Arnold or anti-Davis
3. Anyone else that wants to be pinged for pro-Arnold events.
4. Coming up with good one liners, spin, updates, opposition research, etc.

Talk about pipe dreams. Even if you're right, you are still going to be stuck with a leftist governor. Some progress.
As I have readily and repeatedly said on all of these threads, I don't live in CA. You will decide who your next governor is. But don't pretend that what you do there doesn't effect the rest of us--it does and it will.
Do you know how bad things are in California?
I'm quite aware of the situation, yes. It is bleak, to say the least.
Do you pay taxes in California?
No, thank God.
Are you a two issue person?
LOL...that's a good one. Normally those of us who stand for the principles we believe in are called 'single-issue', no matter how broad our agenda. But to give you a straight out answer, no.
Sometimes compromise is necessary to get anywhere...
And sometimes it is those very compromises that lead you down a blind canyon.
...imagine if Davis remained Governor or Cruz Bustamonte was elected Governor of California...or Loretta Sanchez, then what?
Then CA remains on the path it is on--the road to ruin.
Time to consider who really has a chance to win...
There is no reason, given the absolute certainty that this is going to be a splintered ballot, that a united conservative movement can't elect a conservative.

I agree. He ran a miserable campaign; further hindered by the very RINOs who are now pushing the Arnold bandwagon downhill fast.

There is no evidence that Schwarzenegger is 'middle-of-the-road'. You've been listening to too much leftwing media propaganda. On the contrary, all of his public statements on key issues lead anyone who is listening to the conclusion that he himself is a leftist socialist. Listen to what he says, not what you want to hear.

That's wise. But you don't have to wait to find out where McClintock stands. He has made it abundantly clear by his words AND his record that he stands with the conservatives.

Reagan would be supporting McClintock and you know that. Ah-nold stands for EVERYTHING that Reagan fought against. We spent decades trying to get these liberal RINOs out of the party. Don't you remember what it was like when they ran the show in DC as recently as the mid '60s ? We dwindled to only 1/3rd of the Congress, we were steamrolled by all the great nutty leftist programs we're still paying for today. Ah-nold will only enact the 'Rat agenda while attaching its stigma to the "R" label, just like what Wilson did. We need to fight this, and you need to as well. There is no level of desperation that would make me sell my soul for a worthless letter of the alphabet. "R" means nothing if it has no core principle to it. Stop this insanity !
That's like saying a rapist is better than a murderer. This statement is the most overused regarding the Governor's race in CA. No, there actually are people worse than Davis. Why are we scraping the bottom of the barrel with slimeball Kennedy liberals like Ah-nold ? McClintock is the only candidate who CAN save California. McClintocks claims of rescinding on state contracts with the power companies is full of poo. I'd like to know how intends to get out of those binding contracts!! LOL!!! If some of you don't comprehend that your NEVER going to vote a far right conservative into California's Governership anytime soon. You shouldn't be discussing politics.
