Let BRAVO Know What You THINK About Their Homosexual Agenda!
07/29/03 | Kieri

Posted on 07/29/2003 6:25:52 AM PDT by Kieri

This morning I decided to let BRAVO have an earful. Here is my email:

"As a DirecTV subscriber, I am notifying you I am permanently blocking BRAVO from my menu on my DSS receiver.

Your push for homosexual-'friendly' programming demonstrates your pandering to an audience that exhibits behavior that is not only detrimental to their own health, but the health and safety of families everywhere. I refuse to risk allowing my children to see promo material on your channel, so I find it necessary to block BRAVO and will encourage others to do so. Your advertisers will no longer reach me or my family members, and I have let DirecTV know of our all too easy decision to block BRAVO.

You may consider a homosexual audience on worthy of pursuit, but families who treasure their own lifestyles think otherwise."

I encourage others to let both BRAVO and their cable/DSS companies know that you're blocking their agenda-pushing programming!

BRAVO's "Contact Us" page is here:

Why don't you put some ice on that? *grin*

Come on. I am a small l libertarian republican. I am who I am. Most of us mock those we think are being ridiculous. That is just the way it goes.

I think that the homosexual cabal planning on converting everybody theory is ludicrous. So I mock it. It doesn't make me a liberal, any more than making fun of Clinton makes one a liberal.

I can make fun of whomever I see fit, it is a Free Republic still (I hope).

Why doesn't FR just get used to the idea that alot of people don't agree about certain things? To act as if one has the "truth" on anything especially if one butresses his opinion with a Biblical quote is so very foolish when you consider that not everyone shares the same views about religion let alone homosexuality. Next thing we will all be required to be a certain religion or be insulted here. The only truth here is that alot of people detest homosexuality and alot of people don't. Why can't we just accommodate that,,to continue fighting about it is fruitless and divisive. Are we all supposed to march in lockstep or what? I for one find the incredible hatred and hostility toward homosexuals to be just plain old offensive. So flame me, but you will not change my mind nor will I change yours. Some things are better left out of this forum.

You must not have kids. :-> Actually, I agree with your points to a certain degree. Civility should dominate any debate, at least it should if you want to have a good exchange of ideas.

However, we shouldn't be afraid to tackle any topics, at least any topics within the scope of FR focus. We're conservatives, we don't shirk from issues or hide behind PC buzzwords. We state what we think.

Amazing how far you jump to reach conclusions on someone you don't even know and have never corresponded with.

Just a good judge of motivation, I guess.

Your astounding logic acrobatics cast doubt on everything you say.

Doubt me all you want, but you'd do better reading up on the issue yourself in any event.

I lived in Carmel Valley for years, but have lived the past 20 years in Los Angeles. Still consider CV my home, though. BTW, I agree that many on this thread are wound up so tight on this "gay" issue they're about to explode.

Pity, isn't it?????

Wow, that's an intelligent and well thought-out response. Are you going to tell me that I'm hallucinating a left-wing bias in Hollywood? Are you going to tell me that I've dreampt up Jesse Jackson and his race-huckstering ways? Are you going to tell me that there are no homosexuals who would position themselves to capitalize on homosexual issues such as gay marriage?

Who do you think will get voted off the island this week?

Becasue there are a million other shows that do that. This shows angle happens to be that the subject is straight and the people who give the makeover are gay.

So, either this show is unnecessary or they want to showcase the wonderful, glitzy, sophisticated lifestyle of homosexuals.

If they find a cure for AIDS, will homosexuality be ok for you? AIDS wasn't around in the 60's, 70's, so was it ok then?

What about the long long list of other STD's that gays spread among themselves? Those were present way back then. In fact, as far as I can tell, even while new devestating sexually transmitted diseases keep turning up, none of the ones already on the list are disappearing.

...(although the pedophiles in the gay community are fewer in absolute and relative numbers compared to the pedophiles in the straight community).

Report: Pedophilia more common among 'gays'

I'll say this one more time -- you're sick and you need help. And stay out of California for your own sake -- you might encounter some dastardly gays, or Jesse Jackson on a visit, or a Hollywood "leftist." PUHLEEZ!

Yes. That's my point. CarmelValleyite and some others are saying that they knew gays who weren't trying to "take over" anything, so no homosexual is. I think this current push is to advance the agenda of homosexual acceptance. It's probably tied into gay marraige. I'm saying that there are probably homosexual activists that will use this to their political advantage. Just like Jesse Jackson uses race at every turn to make himself richer!

Most of the old people and black people and gay people I know do not have political aspirations, but that doesn't mean there aren't activists in those populaitons with agendas.

Of course, you're absolutely right. The Left will use any victim group to advance their agenda, and we should be vigilant about socialist programs being proposed currently by the Left.

For instance, the prescription drug benefit recently introduced in Congress is a socialist tool to allow the government to steal more of our income and create government-dependent groups.

On the other hand, a commercial TV show not subsidized by my tax dollars does not concern me too much. The leftist propaganda being advanced by PBS and NPR is definitely more insidious than any cable-TV show about fashion and interior-decorating; in the NPR/PBS case, I'm being forced to pay such leftist drivel with my tax dollars.

FWIW, I tend to shun most television shows except for sports. I just don't find it entertaining.

Or they wanted better ratings.

And the only way they can do this is by perpetuating the homosexual stereotype? Wouldn't the format of the show be as successful or even more so using top experts in each field whether they were homosexual or straight?

With the recent emphasis on gay characters or gay programming, it seems that TV people have a PC agenda they are trying to push.

Doubt me all you want, but you'd do better reading up on the issue yourself in any event.

Me and my liberal buddy had this discussion last year. He could not back up any of his (the same as yours) points, even when searching on the internet.

Now, that said, I believe that there is something deeper than skin-deep about homosexuality. It wouldn't have persisted for thousands of years if it was just a fad.

Now, with that said, homosexuality is still a parasitic evil on society and culture. It has the same unseen costs or alcoholism and illegal drug consumption.

We're all paying for Bruce and Percy to bugger each other. We pay in higher medical premiums, in money diverted from cancer or other disease research to focus on AIDS, in increasing medical costs in general, we have to put up with a coarsening culture, with the worry that our children will be seduced by the very people who should protect them, and, worse of all, with actually witnessing any gay "behavior" involving whips, chains, degradation, and exchange of bodily fluids.

"Thusly, if we want to attempt to change the nature of television, we have every right to do so. "

Of course you have that right, within the bounds of the Constitution. You can't, however, pass laws that limit the freedom of speech of others, without very, very good cause. A makeover show where gay guys fix up a straight guy's style just doesn't fit that cause.

Just remember, unless everyone has freedom of speech, nobody does. That's a fact.
