They're good people, very amusing, and lots of fun
to be with. But, to normalize it for young people
just doesn't cut it with me.
.... explain to me how you can rationalize that they are "good people, very amusing and lots of fun to be with" but somehow it's not normal and they are to be avoided becasue
[sic] they are gay?

The words of hers you quote do not use the phrase "are to be avoided". The part she said she didn't like is the "normalize it for young people" part.

I've known gays, adulterers, serial divorcees, co-habitors, a (hetero) child molester, various Democrats, RINOs and even an occasional Libertarian who were all "very amusing and lots of fun to be with". And it may come as a surprise, but I had no trouble at all "rationalizing" my spending time with them on the one hand versus disapproving of their behavior on the other (though I never brought up the behavior unless they asked for opinions).

If we refused to socialize with everyone who has habits we strongly disapproved of, we'd be very lonely people now, wouldn't we? I mean after all, George and I and others are continuing to carry on dialog with you now, aren't we? *grin* *grin*

There are only two truly litigious news sources here at FR. No actions have ever been filed on the behalf of the conglomerates, only of the two flagship operations.

Your excerpted article was a waste of bandwidth and probably blocked someone else from posting the full article.

Jim Robinson posted in Free Republic homepage a link to all the newspapers that are included in the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times settlement.

The Sun-Sentinel is part of the Los Angeles Times/Chicago Tribune conglomerate, as specifically mentioned

True conservatives don't label entire groups based on irrational fear or because they don't like something.

That is correct. Us conservatives are NOT labeling entire groups. Rather, it's you Liberals/Libertarians who label entire groups when - like a talking doll with a pull-string - you regurgitate non-stop the "homophobe! gay haters!" epithets at entire groups of FRers here who disagree with your political/social agenda

I didn't label any group as homophobic paranoids. I labeled you and a couple others on this thread who displayed homphobic paranoia.

Except homosexuality aint a habit.

Homosexual behavior is a habit. Just as adultery is a habit. Just as child molesting is a habit.

A homosexual didn't ask for his urges. An adulterer didn't ask to be attracted to other women. A pedophile didn't ask for his urges. People who seriously desire to murder the driver in front of them didn't ask for that urge either. But what distinguishes us from other animals is that we don't have to be slaves of our urges. We KNOW BETTER. Or at least we used to know better.

ROFL!!! --- "Whaa! You and your ilk label people, but my buddies and me just identify people!"

You DID mean to put a smiley after that, didn't you?

Right on Kieri

The more we act as if homosexuality is normal the more we allow homosexuals to erode traditional family values.

THE OVERHAULING OF STRAIGHT AMERICA
By Marshall Kirk and Erastes Pill

"The way to benumb raw sensitivities about homosexuality is to have a lot of people talk a great deal about the subject in a neutral or supportive way. Open and frank talk makes the subject seem less furtive, alien, and sinful, more above-board. Constant talk builds the impression that public opinion is at least divided on the subject, and that a sizable segment accepts or even practices homosexuality."

"And when we say talk about homosexuality, we mean just that. In the early stages of any campaign to reach straight America, the masses should not be shocked and repelled by premature exposure to homosexual behavior itself. Instead, the imagery of sex should be downplayed and gay rights should be reduced to an abstract social question as much as possible. First let the camel get his nose inside the tent--only later his unsightly derriere!"

Since I receive direct TV as well I will be sending Bravo a e-mail myself!!
