Shooter Ready
Free Republic ^ | Today | Unk

Posted on 07/14/2003 6:37:02 PM PDT by SLB

I found this on a thread here today and felt it worthy of a thread of its own. We have lots of "shooters" here on FR and this is the chance for them to see how good they really are. So lets have a little informal competition. We will use the honor system, no cheating or inflated or deflated scores. I tried it once this afternoon and got a 51. Sure nothing to brag about. Lets see how some of the FReeper shooters such as: Shooter 2.5; Dead Corpse; Andonius_99; TexasCowboy; Blood of Tyrants; 30-06 Springfield; TC Rider; Joe Brower; Sit-Rep; Squantos;; Lion Den Dan; JackFromTexas; Mortimer Snavely; Jeff Head; Travis McGee; harpseal, and a host of others do in this.

Good luck to one and all and if anyone springs for the CD let me know how they like it, I am being tempted. Now, click on the link and let the fun began.

OK, how long do we have to complete this? I'm on dialup and keep timing out. When I get home (if I'm not too late) I'll have high speed cable. How long does the demo take?

A paltry 22. I guess I should know more about mil dots and ranging, huh? Maybe I should get the cd.

I might add too, I didn't use any of the equations. I just fired a test shot and then adjusted the rounds onto target like adjusting mortar rounds. So, I never achieved a first round hit (got a second round hit on the first target though). My score might be used as a "base level" for applying no skill at all ;-)

What is the course of fire for the highpower postal match? Range, positions, type of targets, type of rifle, & etc.

Regards

If you use the on screen bullet data, calculator, and formulas, there is no way to miss. No bob-weave, breathing, or trigger control. No natural point of aim.

That and the fact that I still have my notes from playing around with this simulator the first time around a few months back.

I can shoot better on the simulator than I can in real life. It is much more difficult to get a perfect score on the range.

How about a course of fire at a real range, instead?

State the course of fire, assuming any rifle and any round.

We could even do a simple CMP course; 2,3,6? Maybe even throw in a few handgun strings?

67. Funny game. It allows holding over and for wind. Grab the reticle and move it. It doesn't seem to add the final stage.
