What Conservative Court?
By Bobby Eberle
June 30, 2003
There has been a longstanding charge by liberals, both in government and the media, that the United States Supreme Court is too conservative. This belief has led to scare tactics by Democrat legislators and pundits that President Bush's mission is to stack the entire court system with even more of the dreaded conservative judges. There are many who believe that efforts by Democrats to filibuster judicial nominees such as Miguel Estrada and Priscilla Owen are done merely to set the stage for when a vacancy opens up on the Supreme Court. But, do the charges from the left hold water? Is the Supreme Court really as conservative as they claim?
The recent rulings by the Supreme Court on a host of social issues proves that the cries by liberals are completely unfounded. Just ask leading social conservative leaders about the so-called "conservative court," and you'll get shaking heads, faces of disappointment, and sighs of defeat. In a week of rulings that could have set a new tone for America, the Supreme Court proved that social traditions take a back seat to mandated social change, states rights has little meaning, and discrimination for the sake of diversity is permissible.

Last night Senator Frist story broke about his support for a Constitution Amendment on Marriage -- came in about 10:00 last night to my email from AOL Update News who send out the latest from the AP wire!
If he is speaking out on a Sunday about this, then I would expect the gloves have come off! I can only hope. Have a hunch this ruling by the SCOTUS may have touched off a firestorm that could just put some fight into the Senate Republicans!

Ya know..I have a sneakign suspicion that we will have two retirements, or more, this term...since the GOP hasn't quite decided on how/when their strategery will be to fight the filabusters, they've "asked" that the O'Connor and Renquist retirements be delayed a while.....BTW..I still thing that Brennan will retire also...the first move by the Dems will be to suggest a tit-for-tat...we'll give you a conservative judghe, you give us a lib one..to maintain the balance...

Maybe it's important for you to read the thread, "The dysfunctional Supreme Court(Bush to nominate liberal per Novak)". Looks like things will get far worse.

You won't be disappointed. I get news from GOPUSA that I don't see elsewhere!
Like you, I am shaking my head -- believe this is going to be one nasty campaign with the issue of appointments to the Supreme Court right near the top of nasty propoganda by the Clinton DemocRATS.

Novak doesn't have the foggiest what this Administration is going to do as witnessed by his articles in the 2002 campaign that were so far off the mark I couldn't believe.
Novak does not have access to this Administration like he has had in the past and I have very little confidence in what he has to say.
Pres Bush will NOT appoint a liberal judge no matter how many times that Novak writes it! You can take that to the bank! He also will not appoint a Souter. The first SCOTUS appointment by President Bush will be a strict Constitutionalist judge who is not an activist and Novak and his anti-Bush writings can take a hike!
Haven't seen anything written by Novak in the last couple of years that is worth much of anything! He has been wrong so many times on what this President is going to do that I have lost track!
BTW, if you didn't get the hint, I don't believe what Novak has to say and neither do a host of people on here! He is definitely not the voice of this Conservative!
