Where's Ann Coulter? Why is Barnes & Noble hiding all copies of TREASON from their customers?

If you take a stroll to your local Barnes & Noble, in search of Ann Coulter's new book, Treason, you may find yourself looking long and hard for a copy. I found the purposely elusive, strategically placed best-seller only after nearly 10 minutes of browsing the bookstore.

Why is Barnes & Noble hiding this book? Treason is currently #3 at bn.com, easily beating out Living History, yet the Barnes & Noble on Monroe Street, in Toledo, Ohio, has conveniently removed the book from plain sight.

I landed at the new releases, best-sellers, non-fiction section; one whole shelf is dedicated to Ms. Clinton's lies (and 20% off too; 30% off, if you're a Reader's Advantage member).

But, no Ann Coulter.

In addition, although a best-seller, Treason is not on sale. Barnes & Noble has apparently broken their own policy by asking the cover price -- this is the first time EVER that I can recall Barnes & Noble asking the cover price for a new best-seller.

What's going on here and what can we do?

Go to Barnes & Noble tomorrow and just try to find Treason without asking for assistance. I’m serious – I dare you (and please post your findings).

At my B&N,They put Anne's book by the door so you don't see it til you leave. I thought that was curious, myself.

At our Waldenbooks Coulter's book was not on the bestseller rack but over on the hot rack. Hilla the Hun's was actually on the hot rack, too, so it was in two places. Hilla's was in the #1 bestseller slot. Horrible Harry had the entire gondola just inside the door. Customers were avoiding that entire section of the store.

@ B&N in SJ only 3 copies of Treason hiding deep in and flat on a table in the middle of the store.

The top copy's cover was torn & looked well read.

& yes "Lying About History" was everywhere, not being read, not being bought.

No LIE!! I was at the B&N in Maple Grove, Minnesota this afternoon and couldn't find TREASON anywhere near the front of the store. I'm sure they carry it, but I was in too much of a hurry to look or ask a salesperson. Meanwhile, LYING HISTORY is in plain site, in more than one location on the floor. Grrrrr.....

After yesterday's Supreme Court decision, posting a picture of Ms. Coulter could be construed as demeaning to those of a different persuasion.

Actually, I don't believe the lefties are responsible for that. I know a Libertarian who was chuckling that someone she knows (I assume of the same political mind) added that gem.

Oh, I don't know, sometimes she looks like a man in drag.

She's has alot of different looks, I think that's part of the fun for her, I like her best when she looks like Melissa Gilbert(I think it was one of the MSNBC stills).

Maybe your bookstore sold most of their copies already?

No -- I found a special stand of only "Treason". The B&N store in Toledo, Ohio has at least 25 copies -- however, the stand on which all 25 copies sits is hidden from the rest of the best sellers. No excuse for this...

You're at least the fourth person to report this; it's more than curious -- it's suspicious.

"I think we re sold out..then found one on display in middle of store."

"resold" out? I don't believe it. The book was only released last Tuesday. I don't know of a single B&N which has sold out of "Treason" as of yet. The corporate office knew how popular this book was going to be and, as such, made sure enough copies were made available to each store.

Oh, it's there. Just not anywhere near the best-seller section, as it should be.

"No great conspiracy here. It was on the first table of books as I went into my B&N. And this is in a liberal area."

Do you live in or near a large city? My theory is that the stores which have the book in plain sight cannot be in small cities. (but, I could be wrong).

I think location is the silver bullet here -- not whether or not the area is conservative/liberal. Large book stores in San Francisco must have Ann's latest book in plain sight. They have to -- they can't get away with hiding it, like the small cities can.

If the book is in great demand you make more money by charging the higher price. If the book is not so easy to sell you discount the price to get people to buy it.

Then why is the new Harry Potter book 30% off (or more) at Target, Sams, Wal-Mart, Barnes & Noble, Waldenbooks, Media Play, Best Buy, Costco, etc.? Isn't there a great demand for the new Harry Potter book?

I think it's a pilot-project. They will move into buildings and put signs up telling people they can come in and purchase books there. It could catch on if they provide stations with PCs so you can get the clerk to bring your books to you.

That being said, if her arrogant ego and love of herself could be toned down a bit, I would find Coulter more respectable.

But this is why I respect her. I love someone who has a healthy self esteem. Toning down in this day and age usually means dumbing down. Arrogant usually means you have the facts to back up an opinion.
