A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....06-17-03....FReeper Fun in the Sun
Billie

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Or...How I'm Spending
My Summer Vacation

"Over the river and through the woods, to Grandmother's house we go...."

School's out; summer's here.....

and that means baseball, cookouts, picnics in the park, lemonade stands, amusement parks.. and family vacations.

MinuteGal (aka Bahama Mama) and about three dozen other FReepers and FRiends recently returned from their second fun-filled FReeps Ahoy cruise, and 'DaBear family (Mama_Bear and JKPhoto) just got back from a wonderful week down under. While there, MamaBear got to cuddle with a Koala bear - one of the highlights of their vacation.

Our daisyscarlett's taking her traveling seriously this year - she no sooner got home from a month in their secluded cabin on the lake (miles from shopping and EVERYTHING!), than it was time to pack her bags to go somewhere ELSE! We hope we get to see her before the year is over! :)

To grandma's house, the beach house; the cabin by the lake, a cruise, to the mountains, San Francisco, DisneyWorld, a Dude Ranch, Golf Resort, Health Spa, Hawaii, Alaska, Six Flags.....where are you going this summer? Stop the newspaper, hold the mail, hire a plantsitter, pack your bags....and take us WITH you!

Or maybe...do you have a memorable vacation from the past - when everything that could go wrong... DID?! You can probably laugh about it now. :) Can't you? Now's the time. This is the place. :)

Thanks, Mixer!

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

St. Simons is such a beautiful island, dansy!
It has such a quiet, 'another world' quality, doean't it?

Of course, you stay at The Cloisters - right?!
LOL

Mornin' Billie. Gonna be a hot one today in the Big Valley.

Gonna do the "over the river and through the woods" thing next month. Whole family is going to make the drive north and Great-Nana will see Logan for the first time. Think she'll like what she sees...?(shameless proud poppa submission)

Love the shells in your presentation, and the dog laying on the dock. Great job Billie! One of my favorite vacations was when friends and I rented a Winnabago and went across the country. Yep, America is BEAUTIFUL! Still love going to the beach and relaxing, lazy days in the sun.

We're always glad when you check in, Temple Owl!
How goes Philly?
Have you had plentiful rain there, too?

this just in...

At Heathrow Airport today, an individual -- later discovered to be a public school teacher -- was arrested trying to board a flight while in possession of a compass, a protractor, and a graphical calculator.

Authorities believe he is a member of the notorious al-Gebra movement.

He is being charged with carrying weapons of math instruction.

(me thinks "who" would have love this one...)

I go inside where the A/C is cranked down to where you can see your breath when you talk and I stay there till October -- sometimes even November. The Cowboy is right about Houston in the Summer. Ugh!

Good Morning, (((((((Pippin)))))))

I'm looking forward to *shorter* days - LOL!

Going to bed at 9:00 has its shortcomings in the summer!

They had Vacation Bible School last night and they noticed some electrical problems with the elevator and other things so had turned off the AC and some breakers before they left. The fire was first noticed about 4:30 this morning.

The face masks of the firemen were beginning to melt it was so hot and it took awhile before they could get in.

The stained glass windows melted. They were protected with plexiglass outside. They were appraised for $2 million, but irreplaceable at any cost.

The sanctuary was 60 years old; completely renovated about 5 years ago.

It was a local landmark, one block from the courthouse square on Main St. Grown men were crying including the Catholic priest who was offering their building to the Baptists for Sunday services.

We've had a lot of problems around here the past 5 years that in many ways have brought local people together. This has effected everybody in town.

I love water vacations, and walking on the beach early in the morning or late in the evening....but others can have it when the sand is hot and the beach is crowded! :)

I'm with you on that one. I always had to have an umbrella if I went during the day. I still have it, as a matter of fact.

In Sebastian, where I left from FL this last time, the beaches are never crowded. In fact, you can just pull off of A1A, park and pick your own spot on the beach. If you need a bathroom and changing house, there's one along the way and one at the pier. I miss it so much!

Hey Bro ..... We all want to see your smiling face this morning.

Yeah, I haven't seen it (smiling) since Friday. :)

LOL! It's the only 'smiling' wolf I had handy. (Vacationing at a Dude Ranch I guess?) :)

Actually, we stay at the King and Prince Resort right on the ocean:

We don't golf, so we stay right by the beach. It's absolutely wonderful.

(((((((LadyX))))))) - I'm so glad that you and Nan are meeting - too cool!
