MASSACHUSETTS Residents...EMail Anti-Tax Raise

Posted on 06/06/2003 5:07:50 AM PDT by grania

On June 11, members of the Massachusetts Education Association have been asked to email their state representatives and senators in a " 'virtual e-day march' to urge legislators to raise revenues by plugging corporate tax loopholes, restoring income tax rates to previous levels and increasing the sales tax and dedicating the increase to education."

(You just can't make this stuff up). So, what I'm thinking...if you're from Massachusetts, or know anyone from Massachusetts, forward this to them and ask them to pass it along, and have them email and call their MA elected officials on June 9 and 10 demanding that the legislature cut taxes and eliminate waste from the education and other state spending initiatives.

Maybe we can flood the email and phones before June 11, so there's a backlog messing up June11!

Mitt Will Veto.

I would hope so. But, the fact is he really hasn't done much about education spending and reform.

Besides that, it's about the information our elected officials get. If they get a lot of emails opposing higher taxes before the MTA initiative, it'll make their storm troopers look less effective or important to re-election.

You hit a "buzz-word" Re-Election. If he thinks the veto hurts his re-election chances (votes and campaign cash), he will sign it.

Rule number one: Follow the money.

Mitt Will Veto.

Yeah but the dems outnumber the GOP 3 to 1 in the legislature.

William Pitt is from Mass along with Matcom.
That should say it all.

Both guys are trying to get arrested.. I sure wish they would hurry up and get arrested. However Matcom found a job so he has been a bit silent. Funny is it. Give a liberal some money and they shut up.

The lege has already said they aren't going to do new taxes this year. E-mail if you want, but I don't think Finneran's going to change his tune so late in the game.

The point isn't just to stop the tax raise (never underestimate the power of the MTA). It would be nice to trump the MTA action on June 11 with an earlier blizzard of email against taxes.
